My first time here, I walked in and felt like I was back in one of the early banh mi shops in Little Saigon 25 years ago. Handwritten signs. Vietnamese menu. Vietnamese dry goods for sale scatttered around. I ordered a beef sandwich and paid cash of course. Out came a perfect banh mi, cut and wrapped carefully. The veggies were on it already but they were seasoned with salt and pepper and maybe something else. The sliced meat had a lemongrass flavor. The mayo was spiked with something delicious. The bun was not the crackly French roll but instead a thin cigar tube roll that was dense like an Italian breadstick. It really hit the spot. I need to try the other combinations.

Tip-- if you can call in to place order for pick up, that's ideal vs going there then ordering, which can take a while. Literally a mom and pop type of place.My favorite is their Banh mi bo nuong xa (bbq lemongrass beef patty) flavorful and goes well with the pickled veggies. I appreciate the fact they don't put pickled veggies inside your Banh Mi. Packaged individually, so your sandwich does not get soggy. Today I ordered 1 vegetarian and 3 beef. Delicious! If you're really hungry, you can easily eat two!It's my top two favorite Vietnamese sandwich places!

UPDATE-1 Star for no sense of urgency. 30 minutes to make two sandwiches... stopped in the middle of the process every time a customer walked in to serve them first.

I really enjoyed the cheesesteak and the dac biet sandwiches! I couldn't decide which one I wanted so obviously I had to buy both. There was only one man working so it took a little while for him to make my sandwiches. I think half the time was spent wrapping them up though. The sandwiches are really long so they're cut into halves, and then the halves are individually wrapped/taped, then each sandwich is put into its own paper bag which was stapled, and then the paper bags were put into a larger plastic bag which was knotted. No joke. Or I don't know, maybe it was a joke...I think what sets this place apart is the pate and butter, so creamy and good. Next time I will definitely order extra pate!

I was in the area and was so thirsty so gave this place a try. The place is very small with a couple of tables and chairs. There were several guys playing cards and I didn't see anybody at the counter. As I started walking to the counter, I noticed one of the guys got up and started walking away from the game and walk towards the counter, so I'm assuming he's the owner or worker. I thought that was strange but oh wells.This place offers assorted cold plate with eggs and baguette, snacks, banh mi and drinks. Since I was thirsty I ordered the fresh kumquat slush and it was pretty good. As soon as the guy was done with making the drink and hand it to me he then couldn't wait to get back to his game.I would come back for their fresh kumquat slush when I'm in the area.

I like the beef lemon grass (bo nuong xa) and cheesesteak (bo xao).Make sure you come early because they run out of baguette around 2 or 3pm.

At first I was amused by the idea of 1 long baguette. Usually you only get the length with plain baguette, not with stuffing. My impressions with their stuff baguettes are, "Did they re-toast the baguettes they didn't sell yesterday? Why are there black burnt marks and the baguette are so hard?" Their baguette are crunchy but so damn hard. I always try to eat flip the baguette over and eat the side w/o burnt mark to avoid having the thing scratch the roof of my mouth. On 10/22/2016, I came in at 9:20 AM while the store clerk was eating his breakfast. I ordered 1 long special baguette. He went straight into making it (without washing his hands). Uh...ok... Brought the thing to work at 9:40 AM, cut it into 4, finished devouring 1/4 of it at 10 AM. ~1 hour later, I got diarrhea. I thought I had a weak stomach... My other co-worker ate another 1/4. ~1 hour later she had stomachaches. So 2/4 people had to run for the restroom that day...

Hmmmmm, so I was craving a banh mi and not sure how to feel about this place. I have tried many of them in the valley and a few in this general area. I have to say, that the banh mi in the valley in my opinion are far better. To start, the bread is softer and tastier even when warm or toasted.The ingredients, beef or pork also better.In any event, this place started off wrong and I should have just walked out.I was trying to ask for a menu in English but no luck, the gentleman at the counter, could not understand me and I could not understand him due to the language barrier. I kept telling him BBQ pork, he said house special and I just said, ok, next thing I know I get the sandwich (several minutes later) and was nothing of what I wanted. It had some kind of meat like spiced bologna but far from BBQ pork.In any event, I took it and was disappointed. It was not bad but it was not good in my opinion. I do wish this place had english translations or menus. I would help someone like me that does not know any Vietnamese other than Banh mi and Pho for meals. I rely on pictures or translations for foreign/ethnic foods. Maybe google translate next time.Not sure if I will come back to this place, but am eager to try all the other local establishments.

Its a nice place ordered the special and he gave me a free ice tea with it would recommend.
