Sancho's Tacos

We discovered this place almost 10yrs ago and make it a priority to go back every time we are in Newport. It's our favorite place near the beach and has not disappointed us a single time. Highly recommend the bean and cheese burrito.

RIP OFF ALERT!!! $17.60 for the Surf & Turf and $18.45 for the Caliguey!!! Didn't realize this until after I got my family to the counter and didn't want to disappoint them... but the food did that for me. The burritos didn't have much in them but at least the flavor was decent (but nothing special). My wife and son got the bean & cheese burritos because they felt bad for spending almost $20 on the a burrito they wanted. But they were even more bummed because they tasted mid and fell apart because the beans were so runny and greasy. BUT THIS IS WHAT PISSED ME OFF THE MOST: they offer a variety of hot sauces and you get ONE CUP per order!!! You want more? They charge you a DOLLAR per extra cup!!!!!!! WTF?! But the kicker is they don't tell you when you order or have it on their menu so I had no idea until I got the bill. I have been a customer here for many years and $ancho$ has always been the most expensive Mexican option... but now they are just a rip off and I will never come back.

I went to Sanchos in Huntington Beach a few days ago and couldn't stop thinking about the surf and turf tacos. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned, the steak was juicy and cut up so there were no weird rubbery chunks. I enjoyed my lunch there so much! The girl at the register was super friendly. I saw there was a closer location to me in Newport so I tried it tonight. I was so hungry and didn't see tacos available on the order ahead menu so I opted for the surf and turf burrito and a side of 4 pieces of churros. The burrito was a good size, but I only ate a 1/4th of it. The shrimp and steak are both so overcooked and rubbery. The shrimp very fishy tasting. The steak wasn't juicy and flavorful like at the other location. The churros were also disappointing and super hard and stale. Totally different experience which sucks. Even the fountain drink Diet Coke was all syrup and I tossed it. What a waste of $35.

My husband and I came here for lunch on a Friday in late August. The place is very casual with a grungy ambiance. You order and pay first before sitting. They don't really have outdoor dining but the inside is very airy. Service was friendly and laidback. Food came out quickly after ordering. I enjoyed my food but didn't think the tacos were anything to rave about.

You just can't go wrong at Sancho's!Located just a hop, 4 skips and 8 jumps from the beach and has a few seats on their covered deck with an ocean view...so beautiful...just can't have glass on the deck so no beers out there unfortunately. It's a walk-up register and seating is first come first serve.Got the opportunity to link up with one of my amazing friends who I haven't seen in years and who also happens to be a Chef de Cuisine of a very high end restaurant group and we loved the food! He liked it so much he went back and introduced another friend of ours to Sancho's the next day so HA! that's a nice stamp in your passport book of reviews ME: the surf & turf burrito + HE: a fish & a shrimp taco = total taste bud satisfactory compadres! Food came out quick and it was a HIT...saaaay less.

Best sunset views to enjoy the BEST battered fried fish tacos!! Everyone is cool here, young crowd always working and super busy, and friendly no matter how crowded and hectic it gets. Just a cool vibe. Consistently great food and service. It's my favorite place to recommend to anyone visiting Newport. Recently tried their churros too? That warm, sweet caramel sauce is a perfect dip!

When in Newport Beach you just have to stop at Sancho's Tacos! The place has a fun atmosphere and the workers are nice. The food is great! There is limited seating, so plan accordingly. Great for a snack or a full meal, this place is great!

No service, Nickle and dime everything. Nachos come with nothing except water down salsa. It is Nachos for god's sake not tortilla chips!!! When you charge close to $16. Disappointing experience .

The lunch and dinner menu is a 5 star let me start with that. It's always our go to when we need a quick bite. The breakfast is a 3 star (hence the 4 star middle ground.)The vegetarian taco was lacking flavor and the mushrooms tasted a little bit funky. The chubbie and chipotle sauce saved it. The breakfast burrito was wayyyyy over salted. Luckily I wasn't the one who got it but my boyfriend was struggling eating it. I think it was just an accident I'm hoping that they don't usually salt them that much. Coming back around with the non breakfast menu though it's amazing and the chubbie sauce is so good. Def stop by for lunch but skip the breakfast!!!

One of the best spots in Newport Beach for Taco Tuesday, Sancho's Tacos offers a special menu that includes $2.50 tacos such as the O.G., Federale, and Yard Bird tacos. There was a line out the door to order when I recently went on a Tuesday afternoon, so be prepared for a bit of a wait to access this deal. There was not an option I could find to order tacos online in advance with the special, so I went in person. The storefront is a visual masterpiece, deserving of a visit for the artistry alone. The walls are adorned with elegant lettering and curt phrases, coaxing customers to linger and admire this unique beachside eatery's decor. The perfect three-minute stroll to the beach, lends these extremely tasty tacos the most excellent sunset views. It's definitely worth the trip to check out Sancho's Tacos on a Tuesday when you are on the Balboa Peninsula.
