We drive 15 miles to go to Roma de Italia. We grew up in North Tustin And used to go to Peppino's and when Peppinos closed, we had to find another Italian restaurant. Roma D is authentic and has a variety of fresh Italian items. Our favorites are the fried calamari appetizer the Caesar salad, add anchovies, and capers the Pizza's,the chicken marsala and the spaghetti Bolognese. Roma D is our go to takeout spot.

Met my friend here for an early dinner. We chose this place because of the location, reviews, and the fact that it's family owned. It was an awkward experience from the beginning. The hostess was interesting. Just looked me up and down. The waitress experience was full of missed opportunities to promote the restaurant and make us feel welcome. I asked about the Bolognese and she mentioned oh the meat sauce with mushrooms and garlic. Just seems like it was a base sauce that they added a few ingredients to and called it something else and charged more. I wasn't expecting that response. She seemed annoyed. Not sure if it's a family recipe but that's okay just not the Bolognese sauce I was expecting. I've had bolognese that's not as tomato forward. It was tasty but not as expected based on previous experiences. She dropped off our food and didn't check in. My friend raised her hand to signal the waitress. I wanted some Parmesan cheese for my pasta. She seemed annoyed and pointed to a shaker on the table that was hidden behind a paper. I asked if she had freshly grated cheese. She was annoyed and said very directly, we grate this fresh daily and it's not Parmesan. I apologized and didn't realize but she acted like we should have known and was arrogant that it wasn't Parmesan. Almost like we weren't up to standard eating at their restaurant. Very disappointing experience. Actually am a foodie and in the food business. This is my first and last time eating here. It seems like a neighborhood restaurant with regulars. In these economic times it's important to attract and retain new customers. We have options on how and where we spend our money.

I love this place so much, my go-to Italian restaurant for many years. The restaurant is always clean and the waiters are friendly, and if you decide to sit outside when it's cold they have heaters. Food is delicious as always, basically anything you want will be on the menu.Highly recommend!!

The site: Free standing building renovated and expanded but parking is difficult. You can park across the street. Nice busy area with other restaurants. The vibe: Friendly staff including the front desk and take out. Lots of families and parties to single dines and parties of 2-4. Loud inside with piped in music, s but it's crowded and upbeat. Lots of parties singing happy birthday. The food: Delicious, garlicky, tomatoes (depending what you get) with emphasis on classic pasta dishes. However, lasagne is in a single bowl and not layered and some no meat options like Angel Hair Estiva sauced with tomato, garlic, olive oil, and feta cheese. Plating is simple but the Shrimp Cappelini has 8 jumbo shrimp over a more tomato-ey version of Angel Hair Estiva. Love their pizza and other dishes as well. Pasta dishes come with home made simple rolls and butter. The tomato sauce is rich and garlicky. Service: Usually moderate to fast, and most of the servers are quick on their feet despite the large number of tables they serve. Refills on coke and water. Food comes out hot because expediters as well as the wait staff bring out the food as soon as it's cooked and is hot.Overall - Arguable the most successful restaurant in Tustin. Prices start at around $16 for many pasta dishes. House burgundy is $7 a glass. Closed on Mondays.Loud and lively even on a Sunday night. Most restaurants would kill to have standing room only waiting for a table at 7:15 on a Sunday night but this is typical for this standout family Italian restaurant. I have been a customer here since the early 90's because it's so consistent and good. I've enjoyed everything I've tried.

Absolutely love dining here. There's nothing better on a cool December night, than having a cozy and delicious Italian meal at Roma D'Italia. They don't take reservations, but you can call ahead and get on their waitlist. I highly recommend, especially on a weekend night. My family and I ordered a bunch of dishes and loved them all. Calamari: 5/5 everyone's favorite. perfectly breaded and crispy and it's served on a bed of romaine with lemon wedges. And of course a side of marinara. Perfect portion to share with 3-4 peopleSpinach Bread: 5/5 One of my favorite appetizers here. Think calzone, but less dough. More cheesy and spinach filling with garlic and parmesan. Sooo good. tortellini Gustavo with chicken: 5/5 creamy tomato sauce with a great portion of grilled chicken in the mix. I finished the whole bowl! Bottom line, so many dishes to choose from. Incredibly intimate and dining at grandmas-feel. It's definitely a great Tustin dining experience.

This restaurant will always hold a special place in my heart. I love the location and I love the ambiance of the restaurant. The service is always friendly and the restaurant is always clean. The food is really good too. We usually always order a few different pastas so give those a try. We recently had the pasta with clams, pizza bread and a pepperoni pizza ( we have a 3 1/2 year old) so we just wanted him to find something he liked which he loved the pizza bread and pizza so we like knowing this is a spot we can all eat as a family and enjoy. We will continue to come to this restaurant and hope to make special memories with our family .

This is the place where my So CA relatives take visitors who want the throwback experience of a bustling family-owned Italian restaurant with red and white checkered tablecloths and an extensive menu. I went there for the first time this past weekend, and being from the Bay Area, loved the "North Beach" vibe in Tustin. There were so many menu selections, it was difficult to choose, but all the pastas were served piping hot, and the rolls and garlic bread were also delicious. Luckily, we called ahead to get on the waitlist, since there were several large parties (12 - 16 people) ahead of us, and so we only had to wait about 20 minutes. All the diners seemed to be having a good time and enjoying their food. We took a photo of our personable waiter Brian, so hoping this goes viral LOL!

After researching a lot of restaurants to posibly eat dinner at after attending a Trans Siberian Orchestra concert at the Honda Center, Roma D'Italia checked off a lot of boxes for me to make this our choice for dinner after the concert.Parking was a bit of a challenge, both on-street and the restaurant's private lot. Eventually, we were able to find parking and walked across El Camino Real to Roma D' Italia.upon entering, the smell of something wonderful hit all of our olfactory senses with tease of what was to hit our tastebuds soon. I walked up to the hostess desk and was warmly and cheerfully greeted. I placed our group name on the wait list and accepted their first available seating be it indoors or out on their patio, which was being warmed by several patio heaters. In just a few minutes, my name was called and were escorted to an indoor table. As I walked by the other dining areas, I observed almost every table was occupied except for the ones being prepped for another seating of hungry guests.Shortly after being seated, a small basket of fresh baked rolls with pats of butter, were brought to our table. The tasty, soft rolls tasted like the dough used to make old school bread sticks but without the crunch or avalanche of crumbs.Soon our server, Fernando, arrived to take our drink order: three sodas @$4.25 each; one glass of Chianti @$9.50.Shortly after receiving our dinks, we were finally able to drill down on Roma D' Italia's extensive menu that offered so many delicious sounding choices. But we made our choices: Spinach Bread w/Marinara Sauce @$14.25;Cannelloni w/red meat sauce @$17.50;Ravioli Casalingo w/meat and red sauce @$16.95;Eggplant Sorrentino @17.95Shrimp Capellini (Daily Special) @$29.95Pre-Tip Subtotal: $128.06The Spinach Bread was brought out as our appetizer. I told my wife and her Aunt & Uncle that there were a lot of great reviews and fans of this item, of which you can include us as well. Wow, I wasn't expecting much despite the great reviews, but this seemingly simple stuffed pizza dough bread with spinach and cheese, with little marinara sauce to accompany each bite, was amazing! We all echoed how we could order a plate of this as a simple, very tasty meal by itself. Rich, cheesy, garlicy goodness! A new family favorite!!My wife took one bite of her Eggplant Sorrentino and was so happy with it! It included all of her favorite ingredients for Italian food. Our other diners enjoyed their generously filled cannelloni and meat filled raviolis too.My shrimp Capellini was both a feast for the eyes as well as the palate! A very generous amount of shrimp, properly cooked rested a bed of pasta cooked al dente, with just the right amount of very tasty tomato and white wine sauce. I will always order this entree if it is offered when I'm eating here.We were all so full from our entrees and spinach bread, that we did not order any desserts. Next time perhaps.Roma D' Italia has become one of our new family favorites for reasonably priced, generous portions, and friendly attentive service in the Orange County area for Italian food.

First time dining here and it was a great experience! The food is 100 times better than anything I've had at other Italian restaurants. This is a family owned business and the service is very good.Food was 10/10We tried various different items and nothing was disappointing. The chicken Alfredo is very tasty and delicious. The raviolis were delightful. The lasagna and chicken parmigiana excellent as well! Their desserts are also delicious. We tried their homemade raspberry sherbet, tiramisu and cheesecake. Sooo good! Will absolutely return.
