This place is so good! We were craving some pupusas and found this hole in the wall at a small unassuming street corner. The first thing I noticed upon walking in was how authentic everything felt. Menus entirely in Spanish, local customers, no frills, just good food.We order three pupusas and two corn tamales. The pupusas are $4 each and come with curtido (pickled slaw). The pupusas were really yummy -- nice balance of flavors between the pork, bean, and cheese. One of the better pupusas I've ever had.The corn tamales reminded me of corn bread. Quite dense inside and buttery. I will try the chicken tamales next time.Service was great and attentive. They checked up on us a few times and were very friendly. I wish their plate specials were better combos. The plates are on the pricier side so it just makes sense to order the pupusas a la carte. They have their own parking lot and they accept card for $1 added fee. Will definitely come back!

We stopped by here for a large order of pupusas for a friends dinner. We ordered revuelta(mixed beans, pork, cheese). They were delicious and came with the sauce and pickled cabbage that pupusas come with. Our large order of pupusas took about twenty minutes to make. The restaurant itself is neat. A good number of people were eating here on the Saturday night we stopped by. Something about the large quantity of chips and just layout of the restaurant reminds me so much about El Salvador. Friendly service. As of Salvadorian heritage, I approve of the pupusas here. Go get yourself some, two is a good number to eat for dinner a person.

A local spot but super authentic. Come prepared for small Spanish vocab they'll appreciate it! Gets crowded in the parking lot during weekend lunch. Parts of pupusas was super burnt. But everything is affordable. Bathrooms are clean. Service isn't fast but not slow either.

¡Delicioso todo! This restaurant has been around for some time and you'll quickly taste why. Highly recommend to try their chicharrón! Service was friendly but could be more attentive. Thank you!

The ambiance of El Rio Restaurant is casual and cozy, with a small dining area that has been set up to provide ample space for patrons to comfortably enjoy their meals. Despite its humble appearance, the restaurant was bustling with activity during my visit, but Carlos, the sole server on duty, handled his responsibilities admirably, juggling multiple tables while maintaining exceptional service. The pupusas were flavorful, with generous portions of cheese and filling, although I found the edges slightly overcooked, detracting from an otherwise delicious experience. However, this minor flaw did little to diminish my overall satisfaction as the accompanying curtido more than made up for it, in fact, making it one of the best accompaniments available at any Pupuseria across Orange County. NOTE the service continues to get better from prior experiences! Cheers and Happy 2024

Pupusas were average with minimal filling. At $4 each and no combos... seems a little pricey. We purchased 2 of the revueltas and 2 of the chicharron with 2 drinks for about $29.
