2.7 stars is being nice because they are definitely overpriced for "cafe" fare...I do love the tuna-salad salad- It comes with a scoop of tuna salad (really good), hard boiled egg, cukes, tomato, avocado, sprouts (sometimes), american and swiss cheese (?) and I ask to add onions, with balsamic-- also ask for extra greens cuz they tend to skimp-- the prices varies, but with tip it's usually about $15/16 dollars (pretty steep, but I'm paying for convenience too I guess)breakfast- diner-style breakfast for newport beach prices --- if you're not too hungover to drive somewhere else, I'd do that.terrible bloody mary-- I know they are pretty easy to screw up, but this was like drinking sad sauce-- and they're made with soju. which I believe would make it thinner because your have to use more soju for it to compare to it's delicious russian counterpart-- but unfortunately had to have the waitress dump water into it to make the sludge move up the straw... *shudders*the kicker-- $6 for a cup, A CUP, of chicken veggie soup-- "smaller than my coffee cup" container of broth with a few pieces of carrot, celery and pearl onions with 3 bites of chicken. with a 1200% return it's a great business move, but pisses off your local clientele-- never again. this place could be great with a little re-vamp of the menu, or bring down the prices for what they're puttin out.

My family rented a vacation home right across the street from the café for 4 weeks and it seemed like every time we tried to go it was either closed (e.g. closed on Tuesdays) or we couldn't order off the menu that we wanted (e.g. the lunch menu is only served after 1pm, the French dip is not served at dinner time). It looks like they're temporarily closed until July, but I would've recommended the sesame chicken salad with spinach and bacon. I was also able to check-in on Yelp and get free French fries, which were pretty good.

Always eat outside on the patio it is very romantic with the droopy trees and glowing lights that are wound in the tree branches. The food is good and they serve beer and wine so it's a very nice place if you want to go on a romantic dinner but don't have a lot of money to shell out. My girl and I hit this place up any time were in the area service is prompt & friendly. It's usually only locals here because its kind of a hidden gem on the island.

We tried this location yesterday after passing it a weekend ago while walking around Balboa with our dog. This is one of the few places on the island which allows your dog to sit with you.The server was very nice and efficient, including noticing a berry from the tree were sitting next to fell into my wife's water before we did and replacing it immediately. The food is a little expensive, but was very good. My wife had the Denver Omelet, I had the Chili Cheese Omelet and we split a short stack. There are no substitutions with the omelets which leads me to believe the items are pre-mixed. There was plenty of cheese and other items in both of our omelets, they were light and fluffy and the pancakes were excellent. The only problem was my wife's omelet was a little runny in the middle, but if it really bothered her she would have sent it back. The orange juice was fresh, really good and rather expensive. It was a bonus to talk to three other couples who had dogs there, having a good conversation with other people just adds to the experience. All the dogs were well behaved and everyone was extremely friendly ... the island atmosphere. The only reason I won't give it five stars is the price was $46 including tip, which makes it difficult to make this a regular destination. You are definitely paying for eating on the island.

Located on the corner a block down from the ferry...Came here on my eternal quest for the best Eggs Benedict. It was pretty good but not mind-blowing. The servers were all very nice. The most outstanding part of the experience was the hashbrowns...they were some of the best ive had. Very simple yet perfectly cooked! If youre in the area you wont be disappointed but no need to seek it out.

Park Avenue Café is a quaint little restaurant tucked away in a corner just a stone's throw away from the Balboa ferry terminal. We came across this place while exploring the area and decided to come back for dinner because it seemed like a local hangout. We ordered the English fish and chips dinner and the orange roughy with Park Avenue sauce. The dinners came with salad or soup and portions were good, so the value's definitely great. I enjoyed the white clam chowder and the bread roll was oh so soft. The orange roughy was excellent. Deep fried and topped with the park avenue sauce - a medley of mushrooms, tomatoes and onions in white wine, the fish was soft and succulent. With a side of wild rice and vegetables cooked just right, this was beautiful. I can't quite say the same for my fish and chips. The portion was generous and batter was thin, but the fish was tough and a little tasteless. The chips were alright and I liked that malt vinegar was served without having to ask for it. I did have a snob moment by feeling appalled by the kid at the next table who murdered her chips with a heap of ketchup. We finished the meal with homemade apple pie and ice-cream. I think it was pretty good but at that point I was close to barfing after that much food. Our server was really excellent, gave great food recommendations and took care of us really well. The couple at the next table recommended the breakfast, so I guess we'll be back some time.

Ordered a sandwich but waitress put order in wrong. I asked not to have the fake bits in the sandwich. It took so long (25 minutes for food to come) - ate it anyways, but the veggie sandwich had those fake bacon bits in it for flavor. Miss Bill H. not sure who is running the ship now.

Been coming here for years. They are closed until Spring 2015 :-(I received a reply message within 24 hours on Yelp from Tracy.Read some of the reviews and they are funny. If you want crystal goblet glasses and white table cloths this place is not for you. If you want a very quaint and quiet place with great food and tables outside under the trees, on Balboa Island, this is the place for you.Cannot wait for it to reopen!

Well if you want to get lunch here, I recommend coming right after you have breakfast, because the amount of time you wait to get your order, let alone the drinks, you will be hungry all over again. The food is good, and location is top notch but the wait time is not worth it; Even if you are on vacation and time is not an issue. During the wait time I saw three tables come to the front asking "where is my food/". Lol. Speed it up a little. Well this was my experience, you never know, they could have been down a cook and server.... But nevertheless, I wouldn't return.

4 stars for outdoor patio ambience and you can bring Z Dog.3.5 stars for the food & 3 stars for the serviceThis is a small little cafe on Balboa Island that is near where you would turn left to get on the ferry. The service is fairly friendly and good. The food is good and both pancake and omelettes are fluffy and not overcooked. There is also a good amount of cheese, as opposed to a pathetic sprinkling of it. The chili is homemade and I hear very delicious. The OJ is also very fresh and tasty, but very pricey. Speaking of pricey, pretty much the whole menu is pricey, which is the only thing stopping me from making this a regular hangout.
