Number Three used to be one of my go-to spots in Laguna Beach. The food was always solid, the prices were fair, and it has a relaxed atmosphere. I never quite understood why people would flock to Urth Café next door for what I considered subpar food when this gem was right there.Lately, though, things have gone downhill. In the past few months, I've shown up multiple times, only to find the place inexplicably closed--on days when it should've been open. Then there was this random introduction of seafood hot pots and other new dishes, which felt like a departure from the quality and variety of the old menu. I tried one of the hot pots on a previous visit. It was fine--good, even--but nothing special.Still, I wanted to give it another shot. Today, I went back with some friends and ordered the hot pot again, along with the house noodles with lamb. That's when the staff told me both dishes had been off the menu for weeks. The reason? The owner is the only one who knows the spice recipe, and he hadn't made it available to the staff. Honestly, if that's the case, just take those items off the menu and be upfront about it. It's beyond frustrating to see half the menu unavailable because the owner won't share his "secret recipe" with the staff--yes, that's exactly what I was told. With no choice but to stick to the classic menu, I ordered a burger. Sadly, it was overcooked and lacked any real flavor. And to top off an already disappointing experience, when I asked for ice water, I discovered the ice was being stored in a dingy white cooler on the floor. No ice machine? That feels like a health code violation waiting to happen.I don't know what happened to this once-great spot, but it's lost its charm. I was tempted to give two stars, but the ice situation dropped it down to one.

This place is very close to the beach about a block away. We parked on the same street and walked past. Not wanting to be hungry on the beach we ordered here. This an order at the desk place. I ordered a burger and bottle of white wine. The service was very quick . We arrived around 1 close to closing and were taken care of quickly. Great place for a quick bite. The outside area is clean and very sunny with a few spots of shade.

This place needs more hype, I went on a weekday for lunch and it wasn't that busy. The menu is so diverse and affordable, each meal is filling for one person and could even be shared for a light meal. We ordered the Seafood Special and it came with a side of rice, of course it's not the best quality seafood, but it was very good for the price. It came with salmon, shrimp, mussels, clams, potatoes, and corn. The back patio of this restaurant is super cute and reminds me of a little garden. ig: @cravingswithcat

Hidden gem in Laguna!! Delicious, filling, and fairly priced seafood dishes. They have a pretty small menu/selection, but all are pretty solid options and good portion size! 'Seafood Special': Mix of shrimp, clams, mussels, salmon, potatoes, and corn. It was like a soupier version of a seafood boil, but it was still flavorful and not too spicy! Also comes with a side of rice which soaks up everything really well! They have lots of self seating inside and outside, definitely opt for the outside seating in the back because their patio area is so nice and peaceful!!

An American restaurant, but the items that we had I thought were a fusion between traditional Chinese noodle soup and American seafood. Super incredibly savory, great up a little spice. Noodles were delicious , and had tons of seafood in mine. price was excellent, overall really great value easily my favorite restaurant in Laguna BeachAmbience was excellent, lots of outdoor seating and indoor seating available. Even had a live band outside! Service was fast in the server was very friendly

4/7/24 An update, it's certainty been a while because we saw this new addition for a hot pot for Number 3!!Eugenio was there to explain that some new menu items were added. There's new equipment for the hot pot (see photos from today)). I wanted some French toast for breakfast but they no longer have this on their menu, so I got the apple pancake. Coffee us great. Hubby git the Salmon Frenzy with extra shrimp--DIVINE!! It's all about the spicy sauce (not too spicy but enough to clear your sinuses). I really wanted to have this meal at s place that is surrounded by foliage. I miss this-something I have not found yet in Montclair or its neighboring cities. I noticed that the place filled up quickly (more than before) I'm guessing the new menu items were the perfect addition. I would like to return at a later time when there's more leaves on the trees for shade. Today was perfect because even though it's sunny, it was still quite chilly out. Parking is still a challenge but it was well worth visiting & we got lucky by arriving early & snagged a spot at the parking lot in the back (only 3 spaces).

We stumbled upon Number Three Restaurant by accident while struggling to find parking in the area we wanted to be. Luckily, we found a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Initially unsure about the place, we ventured inside, passing through a modestly-sized kitchen. With only a couple of seats taken, we placed our order at the counter and found seating further outside in what seemed like a backyard. The patio was beautifully decorated, and the garden was well-maintained, creating a serene atmosphere. I started with a bottle of Modelo Negro before the food arrived. The Spanish and Asian fusion food with a hotpot concept was intriguing. We ordered a meal with lamb and seafood and shared it. Despite it not being what we initially expected, we thoroughly enjoyed the serene environment and our conversation over a Spanish-style lunch. The service was also outstanding.

Number Three is the number 1 must go to place whenever my family is in town. In the past 3+ years, we took many friends to enjoy the food. Not a single guest didn't wow about the Asian skillet dishes. Whether it's in the cozy indoor or the serenity outdoor zen garden, both are pleasant & peaceful. Next door to the crazy busy Urth Cafe, this art garden dinning location is a beautiful sanctuary deserve much more attention. The price of each dish & the food quality is very decent. Good portion of the plate with reasonable pricing at most $20ish. It will cost easily double in other similar restaurant setting. The host/cashier is very friendly & professional. Their hot skillet special of seafood, salmon, shrimp and lamb were must have. Unfortunately, the Asian food menu is discontinued. This is the BEST seafood in town with delicate modified 13 spices based sauce. It is more or less equivalent of the French ratatouille! It's very schock and sad to see them removing the dish from the menu. They only serve American dishes like burgers, omelet and salad. People started to compared the omelet with Denny's. Sooner people will compare the burger with Black Angus. It will be no different to any other American food restaurants in town. By removing the Asian dish from the menu, it losts the uniqueness of the food selection. I realize people complain about the shrimp with the head in the dish. In seafood industry, the shrimp with head-on shell is a much better grade with lot less seafood preservatives needed. In order to be culturally correct, maybe use the same shrimp but remove the head in the kitchen before presenting to the table? Please bring back the thirteen spices dish. It will be helpful to promote the restaurant & dish more with local flyer/advertisements.
