Ramon was great! He took care of us on the outside patio upstairs. He was really knowledgeable about the menu and had just the right amount of table visits. The view was great. We watched the ferry and the rest of the harbor traffic the whole time. The patio heaters were on point. Not too hot, but not cold either. Just right!

Ugh how to begin...maybe that day was their off day.We went in and were seated in the outdoor patio. (Note : The Pigeons are EXTREMELY hungry and aggressive, and will steal your food from your hand)Appetizer comes down, and my plate had a giant black thumb print on it (some kind of oil / lotion). I wiped it to be sure. I asked the busboy who brought me another with ANOTHER black mark on it. He seemed really offended that I asked for a 3rd plate and sure took his sweet time with the 3rd plate. He also didn't even notice that he gave me a 2nd unclean plate as he said 'where' when you can see it on the plate.I order the Sourdough Clam Chowder. The Chowder was nice (Hence the 2 stars but the bread was the absolute worst tasting item. I feel it either was old or not even sourdough and just a round bread. They toasted / buttered the top like I expected but even the top piece was meh.I was eating the Ceviche and it was pretty good. Except when the food came someone took away the 1/2 eaten ceviche! My food! (This was when the birds showed up)Server wasn't all that attentive. I guess she was really busy inside. I could tell because I counted how many times the OTHER server helped her tables in between she helping ours.Ugh.All this and the bill was over $70...so as I said, meh.

I have dined here a few times before and I was in the area with a few friends so we decided to grab a bite to eat here again. They have a great location right on the water on the Balboa Island side of Newport Beach. We were here on a weeknight so it was relatively slow, but they get pretty busy on the weekend and during the day. The tables out on the terrace upstairs give you a real nice view of the water and there are overhead heaters if it is chilly outside. The upstairs bar area and dining area is a good size and there are several TVs for watching sports. During the day, their outdoor patio right on the water is open.It was still happy hour when we arrived so we started with some oysters. The oysters tasted good but were not shucked very well and all three were still stuck to the shell on the bottom. I ordered the flat iron steak medium rare with veggies and mashed potatoes. I think they normally pour the brown gravy sauce on the steak before it comes to the table but I ordered it on the side. My first bite of steak was a little chewy but thankfully the rest was nice and tender and not chewy. The veggies were very fresh and the mashed potatoes had a nice buttery flavor. Other dishes which were enjoyed were the filet Mignon with veggies and mashed potatoes, and the filet Mignon tip fettuccine. Our server was Shane who was very friendly and provided great service. If you are feeling lucky, the restaurant does have four parking spots directly behind the restaurant. On a slow weeknight, I was able to park on Bay avenue which is the one-way street right behind the restaurant. On busier days, I usually have good luck parking in the public lot on Balboa Blvd and Palm Street.

Such a lovely restaurant. Usually we sit upstairs outside and love to watch the boats go by. Their happy hours menu is awesome and the service is always great!

Service was great! Our waitress Jenna, was on point, she came to check on us several times throughout our dinner. The food was delicious! I ate here many years ago and remembered the bbq cauliflower and wanted to come back for it! The music was at a comfortable level. Over all a great experience!

We sat upstairs and overlooked the bay. What a gorgeous view , like Hawaii! We had butternut soup and clam chowder and chicken wraps. The food was fabulous. The server was even better. Danielle was so friendly, knowledgeable , professional and fun. She is a doll . Ask for Danielle to make your dining experience perfect. No,I am not a relative or friend. She was simply fabulous. Thank you Newport Landing. We live down here and will be back so many more times to come.

Come for the location, and pay for the view. Food was okay, nice view, and the customer service from Ramon was good!AR and I decided to spend the afternoon in Newport, and it had been a while since I took the ferry to Balboa. We strolled around the plaza and even ventured out to the pier. Hungry but undecided, we stumbled upon Newport Landing Restaurant and chose it on a whim. It looked nice from the outside, so we thought, why not?Overall, the experience was just okay. The food was alright, but you're primarily paying for the prime location and the scenic view of the harbor, ferry crossing, and boardwalk; if you are seated on the second floor.Table floral arrangement - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=LJDcRVIQ2tfyplAIfZBmCg&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQThe order:House Margarita (Happy Hour - $8): Okay. Yesterday we came in for a bite with family. I recommend Newport Landing. It's a local favorite I had a avocado tuna melt sandwich and a bowl of clam chowder. It was delicious my picky godson loved his chicken strips. We were visited by a few birds lol I love this place. Everyone was so nice. The place is clean and the view is beautiful..

I've been coming here for 21 years now. Food and service remain excellent. I don't think I've ever had a meal I did not enjoy. I'm going to say the drinks this time were the strongest I've ever had. The margarita tasted like straight tequila and I'm not complaining. Fans of clam chowder must try this here. I would say the burger was a little on the dry side but the patty was thick. Kids enjoyed the fish taco too. Big fat piece of breaded fish. Some missing items I forgot to grab pictures of are the zucchini sticks, chips and salsa and shrimp bowl. The zucchini sticks are a must have and the shrimp bowl was really filling.

Made a reservation for 8 PM on a Monday night to celebrate my son's birthday after going on the Newport light cruise. When we arrive, the restaurant itself wasn't busy at all and we went upstairs for the check-in. They were able to see us early around 720 instead of our 8 PM reservation, which was good because the restaurant closes at 8:30 PM. The hostess was very welcoming, but our server gave the vibe that he did not want to be there, that's the nicest way of putting it. The restaurant itself is a bit on the older side, though not a problem we were able to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the Christmas lights, which was honestly our favorite part. The menu has a decent amount of offerings, but the food was just OK. We ordered two different kinds of pasta one was a clam linguine with actual clam shells and the clams in them, which was nice. We'd never had a dish like that before, but unfortunately, some of the clamshells broke and were in the pasta and since the clam shells are white and the Alfredo sauce is white, It made it a little bit hard to actually eat the pasta. A few bites in we got shell and then just chose not to finish the rest. The flavor of the pasta was OK. We also ordered a shrimp pasta that was cooked well. Aside from that we ordered the blackened swordfish which had decent flavor, but didn't care for the rice or the vegetable medley as it wasn't seasoned well and we ordered the fish and chips which was subpar at best. It lacked flavor and the tartar sauce didn't add much to the meal. As our appetizer, we ordered the coconut shrimp and we would say that was the best part of the meal. we also had the clam chowder which was decent. The restaurant itself is a bit on the older side and definitely needs to be refurbished or remodeled, and it's incredibly pricey. Probably the most that I have ever spent for three people going out to eat, and we've been at places that I would say are much fancier. overall it left quite a bit to be desired, and if we returned for the light cruise in the future, we definitely would be looking for a different place to have local seafood. We are giving it three stars because of the location and the view, but really that is what you're paying, for as others have said in their reviews. the service was not great, The food was OK, and overall it's not a place we would return to unfortunately.
