Just getting into town for the week and needed dinner. We were promptly seated and served water by the very friendly staff. The place was busy and we were content while waiting for our order, but the staff felt bad and gave us a complimentary edamame. It was delicious and appreciated . We all enjoyed our hand rolls and shared a couple specialty rolls. The crqbtopia roll was amazing ! The restaurant is lovely and you can tell it was filled with patrons who come often. We will definitely return when in the area.

I did an online order for pick up and in the special instructions wrote "No shrimp(allergic)" for the sushi combo and the sushi combo had shrimp in it. Despite clearly indicating in the special instructions that I have a shrimp allergy and requesting no shrimp in my order, my sushi combo still contained shrimp. This oversight put me at risk of a severe allergic reaction, which could have been avoided if the restaurant had paid attention to my dietary restrictions.Not only did this mistake ruin that sushi combination I ordered, but it also raised serious concerns about the restaurant's attention to customer safety and care. It's unacceptable for a sushi restaurant not to take allergies seriously, especially in this day and age when food allergies are so common.Additionally, the restaurant only included three packets of soy sauce with the order which is incredibly stingy. My order had approximately 48 pieces of makizushi and 8 nigiri pieces and three soy sauce packets were used before half of the meal was completed.Overall, I cannot recommend Newport Fusion Sushi to anyone with allergies or anyone concerned about receiving the correct order. The lack of attention to detail and disregard for customer safety make this establishment one to avoid at all costs.

This is my GoTo Sushi restaurant every year I come to Newport Coast for our weekly family vacation. Value is definitely 5 Stars. $33 for 8 pieces of Sashimi AND 8 pieces of Sushi. Quality of fish is 3.75 to 5 depending on the species.Sake (Salmon) 3.75, a little chewy and sinewy Maguro (Tuna) 4texture was perfect, a little lacking on flavor. They do sell Blue Fin Tuna and Fatty Tuna (Toro)Yellowtail 4.5, nice cut, good flavor and texture Fatty Yellowtail 5, a nice chef's surprise to the dish. Tasty and melted in your mouthAlbacore 4.5, flavorful and very soft texture Unagi (Eel) 5 served warm with just the right amount of sauceEbi (Shrimp) 3 Lacked flavor and was chewyThe chef stated one cut was seared but I couldn't tell.They also served Miso and a salad prior to bringing out the combo. The salad was chilled perfectly. Not your usual salad on just lettuce and dressing but lettuce, carrots, red cabbage, and cucumber in a fabulous dressing.Overall, good to great quality of sashimi, friendly staff, very clean establishment. And as I said, Value for the size and quality of food, 5 Stars
