We were looking for a new inexpensive place to have lunch in downtown San Clemente. We discovered this little Thai restaurant and decided to give it a try. It has a simple clean interior, a bit on the dark side. We were greeted by the server as we entered and we picked a table. We were served water and regular menus along with a lunch menu was provided. The lunch menu is amazing. Everything is $12.99 and it includes a salad, spring roll and an entree. One side of the lunch menu lists all of the vegetarian entrees and the other side are the meat entrees. I chose Emerald Curry, a vegetarian entree that was delicious. It was a tad bit spicy but not too spicy. Two mounds of rice was served along with a bowl full of green curry and fresh vegetables. I would definitely go back!

The family wanted to try Thai in another area. We learned that if we live in an area with great Thai food, no need to venture out. Service was kind and as attentive as possible. We had high expectations because majority of the reviews are good and the restaurant was packed. It stayed busy the entire time we were there. We ordered the drunken noodles, seafood soup, the appetizer platter, and crab fried rice. The drunken noodles were ok. The appetizer platter was over cooked and the presentation was not appetizing at all. The food just didn't have good flavor and not properly cooked. I guess we're spoiled in our area and I'm assuming Thai food is limited in San Clemente which is why it stays busy.

In town for my best friend's baby shower and needed a place to meet for dinner. Since Thai is a go to for me and we are both indecisive when it comes to food, we decided to go to Mongkut. We got there a bit early so we waited outside until they opened. Once they opened, we were seated immediately and served water. We ordered the Tom Yum soup with chicken and though the soup base was delicious, the chicken was overcooked. This seemed to be a trend with the chicken. We had also gotten noodles with beef and the beef was good. I would probably avoid the chicken the next time. Only street parking available. Clean restroom and a good amount of indoor tables.

Was excited to try this place that I found as recommend by Yelp. Thai is my favorite food and I couldn't wait to discover a new gem. I was with my wife and kids ready to go in on some great food. From the moment we walked in was let down place was not very packed but someone had a stroller blocking door was hard for us to find a seat seating is cramped up. Took very long to get our order even to get some water doesn't seem to be much order. We were very hungry we ordered a lot of food. Food took long to get we ordered the seafood soup which didn't have much seafood and tasted sweet for some reason. The drunken noodles were pretty dry not much flavor the crab fried rice was not that great we ordered the sampler appetizer platter to get a taste of all the appetizer and it was cold lacking presentation. Wife ordered a chicken curry and it lacked flavor over all was disappointed with food. The lady taking orders was nice and one of the servers who helped us tried his best to help we just made the best of it.

They use Charmin Ultra Soft. Not skimpy on paper. 10/10. Server was also very friendly and attentive.

Not a fan of this place. I really wanted to like it because it smelled so good! The yellow curry was very liquidy, the bbq chicken was super salty, the Tom yum soup lacked flavor and the pad se iu was super greasy. Friendly service and cute place but the food is definitely lacking. Waited way longer than quoted.

The food is delicious! We have gone to Mongkut Thai for years and had many, many different dishes. Most are GF and can be as hot or not as you like them.

Food (5/5 stars):We had a Thai feast with Yellow Curry, Drunken Noodles, Shrimp Hot Tray, Egg Fried Rice, and Crying Tiger! Everything we ordered was great, but my favorite dish was the Drunken Noodles because it was so flavorful and perfectly spiced.Experience (5/5 stars):* Price: reasonable* Wait Time: minimal on a Saturday for lunch* Service: very good and friendly* Parking: there's a free parking lot down the street from the restaurant* Ambiance: it's a nice, simple restaurant. A tad dim inside

We had an excellent dinner here. Our server was really nice and helpful, the food was excellent, and we know it was a good place since the flow of locals picking up their online orders never stopped. Will definitely eat here again when we're in the area.
