At $75 total (including tax and tip) for a $58 omakase, Momoyama Sushi delivers a wonderful dining experience that feels well worth the price. The quality of the fish was excellent, and the presentation was on point. We even got a special private room, which added to the overall ambiance and made the meal feel more intimate and exclusive. The only thing I would have changed? Sitting at the bar. While the service was great, having all the sushi delivered at once meant that some pieces were slightly chilled rather than being served at their ideal temperature, fresh from the chef's hands. That said, it was still a fantastic meal, and I'd love to come back--especially for lunch, since it's such a great spot for a mid-day omakase treat.Other highlights: Great service--attentive and professional staff Plenty of parking--no stress about finding a spot Beautiful presentation--check out the photos!Would definitely come again!

Dropped by to see how the new ownership was doing ever since Chef Taiki left. It's a lowkey spot and for a $58 lunch omakase, it's a decent price. For the quality, it's worth. The only thing I did not understand, was why serving all the fish all at once. Our plates sat there a couple min before it was even handed over to us by the bar. Toro was okay; wasn't fatty or savory. Salmon and cod was good though. We ordered yuzu paste on the side to enhance the flavors. The steamed miso egg was bomb, but the portion size was too small. It was definitely baby size than adult size bite. The uni with fish eggs and rice was good and perfectly salty. We also ordered waygu sashimi and it was like a 4/5. I kinda expected it to be buttery but it wasn't. After the meal, I was pretty full. Satisfied for sure. The Dasai bottle we got hit the spot too. The server kept refilling our shots and water. People come through for good sushi.

Made reservations for Sunday lunch. There is not name for the restaurant out in front. But it's between Hungry Boy and Cal Shabu. The interior is very simple but nice. Service is amazing. We went with the omakasa lunch as did everyone else there. The price point is great for the quality you get. The food came out quickly. Once we are finished with one item, another one arrives. Below was everything on the omakase lunch menu. The flavors were decadent and on point. The portion is not huge but after we finished everything, we were full but not stuff. I would definitely come back soon. CarpaccioTempuraChawanmushi7 piece NigiriUni + Ikura DonTamagoyakiMiso SoupYuzu ice cream

Happy Valentine's Day!! At first I was nervous because I was waiting BY MYSELF outside along side all these couples . But you know what, all you need to do is keep your head up high & know that you're doing this for yourself. #selfcare I was greeted by Andrew who was the manager himself. He guided me to a cute little section in the back where I had my own table. Lowkey kinda sucks I didn't get to see the chef do his thing in the front but kinda glad I had my little corner, specifically on this day.The experience starts off with a warm towelette to clean your hands before you begin your 12 course meal. Way too many fish to mention but let me tell you this. Mr. Ko, the owner, than man himself, HAND picked these VERY fresh fish himself from Japan. Literally when I tell you I have never had fish this fresh. It was the moment I tried the yellow tail & tuna sashimi that I realized, AND the uni!! Barely tasted the ocean, more so creamy & milky. I also really enjoyed the black cod chawanmushi which is a steamed egg custard dish. It tasted so silky & complimented the fish so well, I could have 10 more. So while I was enjoying the Sapporo, Andrew was so generous to offer me sake on the house . I don't know too much about sake so he brought out Jozen sake. Beware omg. Literally so smooth when you drink it, let's just call it enhanced rice water.. it was a whole pot full?! Keep in mind I was by myself, so of course I need to experience a kanpai (cheers) with each of the kind souls that made my night so unforgettable! Thank you Andrew, Ryan, & Mr. Ko!!! Took the time to explain each dish & how I should eat it, kept me hydrated, kept me happy. Made sure I didn't feel alone. I would recommend this place to anyone & everyone if you ever want to try a true authentic omakase experience.

Food: 5/5 Our friend saw an ad for this restaurant on social media and we made a reservation to try it out! We ordered the lunch omakase special, absolutely love the variety they provided. They started us off with carpaccio, tempura, Chawanmushi (silky tofu), nigiri along with the uni-okura don, tamagoyaki and skiru, and the ice cream dessert. We also ordered the hand rolls close to the end of the meal, the spider hand roll was nice and crunchy. Just wish it was more filling, but the omakase gives you a taste of everything. Service: 5/5 service was great, they were quick and attentive. Ambiance: 5/5Nice sushi spot, there were seats at the bar next to the sushi chef and table seating along the wall.

Precise, well-executed omakase with a friendly service. I saw this place pop up on my IG feed few weeks ago and was intrigued by its reasonably priced lunch omakase. However, I decided to make a reservation for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. Dinner price is much higher, although probably not unreasonable given the quality of food and service. I haven't been to any other high end sushi place before so I don't have anything to compare, but the quality of the sushi was exceptional. I had same types of sushi at other places but everything tasted at a higher level here. Dinner omakase included 9 nigiri pieces and 11 other items, such as tartare, chawanmushi (steamed egg), hand roll, tamagoyaki, dessert, and several others. I can't name or describe everything we had, but the standout items from the nigiri course were red snapper, golden eye snapper, and halibut. Presentation was exceptional, especially on items like smoked toro, which came in a closed glass dish to trap the smoke inside. Dashi Tomato was refreshing and very unique in flavor. For dessert we got white sesame creme brûlée which was excellent. The whole course lasted about 90 minutes and was timed perfectly. We never had to wait too long for the next item, nor did we feel rushed as if they were trying to kick us out for the next set of guests. I think this place sets specific times to accept customers by appointment only. It seems like dinner guests either arrive at 5:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. only. I knew this place would be hardcore because they don't even have a visible sign outside. The restaurant front is also somewhat covered up by a small tree in the parking lot. As others mentioned, it's sandwiched between Hungry Boy and Cal Shabu. Sushi chefs and staff were all professional but still friendly and accommodating. From the outside the place looked a bit intimidating and strict, but warm greeting from the staff members made us feel welcome. They even gave my wife a single stem rose for her birthday. My wife and I already made another reservation for next weekend to try its lunch omakase.

I had a great time dining here, definitely a hidden gem in Fountain Valley. I came on a Saturday afternoon and had reservations, so we got seated right away. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful - there's bar seating and individual table seating, but I prefer sitting at the bar for an omakase experience. The chef and staff were really friendly, they explained what all of our dishes were as they were coming out. I felt like the pacing between dishes could've been a bit faster, but since I was dining with a friend, the wait wasn't bad. I liked most of the nigiri pieces except for the shrimp nigiri. I thought it was really basic and not worth being on the omakase. All the other fish were so fresh and the size of the fish was also sufficient. I really liked the tempura dish too since it was nicely fried. The carpaccio, soup, uni and ikura don were also really delicious. I wasn't the biggest fan of the tamagoyaki and the yuzu ice cream dessert. The yuzu ice cream was really overpowering with the tanginess and the texture of the ice cream wasn't as smooth as I'd like. The tamagoyaki was okay, nothing too special. A bit sweet but overall, a little bland. I enjoyed my experience at this omakase, and for the price of $58 pp, I thought it was worth it.

Saturday LunchCalled day of for a 1:45 pm seating at the sushi bar. It wasn't completely full but decently busy. There's a sushi bar, few tables and a private room in the back. Two chefs behind the counter.$58 pp for omakase which is what they recommend. It comes with a few appetizers, 7 pc sushi, and dessert.Tbh it's a glorified sushi combo but not bad for the cost. I left full and satisfied. Very affordable lunch option. Service was good, attentive although they never asked if I wanted to order anything else or add a few pcs of fish.. no explanation of any specials or recommended fishes to try.. Would be open to coming back to experience their dinner..

Amazing!!! We dined here for an early Valentine's lunch and it was just perfect! The sushi chef was so sweet and friendly and made the experience that much better for us. Everything we tried on the Omakase menu was delicious! The only tiny complaint was that the seaweed on the snow crab roll wasn't crispy and was sort of chewy, so we won't add that to the Omakase next time. However, the chef included a generous portion of crab to the hand roll and it was seasoned very well. Everything else was steller!

Had the pleasure of dining here for lunch with their $58 omakase set for my husbands birthday. Food: the set menu was enjoyable, I like that the food comes in variety so it's easier to taste different flavors. Unsure if we were short any items but it didn't feel like we got the complete set? Either that, or the servers didn't really notify us which part we are on the omakase, plus, the menu was taken away the moment the food comes. I think it would be helpful if we got paper menu so we know what course we're currently eating. The sushi was good, not the best but not the worse. For the price of the lunch omakase, I believe it is worth it. Service: service was overall good, our sushi chef was so nice and friendly and caught really great conversations with him. The service could use a little bit of training as I felt rush through the courses. Multiple times my food was taken away prematurely without consulting if I had finished. When I showed my hesitation, then it was asked if I'm done with my food. At this point, the food was already taken past my head, and I didn't feel the point of having it put back on my plate. Ambiance: felt a little busy and less intimate. The bar seating area felt quite close to the guests next to us, which provided minimal flexibility for intimate conversations. Overall, I would dine here again, but don't think I would try their dinner menu at a hefty $245, until a few minor areas can be improved for better dining experience.
