It's crowded whenever I go, and for a good reason: It's a wonderful market and many people know that. The market offers a variety of international foods, especially Persian foods. I go primarily for the fruits and vegetables which are fresh and of high quality. At this store you will find offerings not available in most other stores and at surprisingly reasonable prices. The workers are friendly and helpful (like when I needed help locating the fresh fennel). One of my favorite grocery stores in Orange County.

Late post - recently visited Mission Ranch Market, and overall, it was a fantastic experience! This busy Middle Eastern grocery store has a lot to offer. The onsite deli was impressive, and the fresh bread was a hit with everyone. I also appreciated the wide selection of fresh veggies, all at surprisingly affordable prices. The market includes a dried fruits and nuts bar, which is a nice touch for those looking to try a variety of flavors. While the parking lot is small and can be a bit hectic due to the high volume of customers, the vibrant atmosphere is part of its charm.I initially considered giving them 3 stars, service is quite slow, and not all veggies are affordable. Lines take a long time to move but the Koobideh I tried was absolutely superb--definitely a highlight of my visit!

Don't order pickup from these people. Awful service. They made my 88 year old father wait around for 30mins while they verified a paid order

I highly recommend this market/restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Iranian/Persian food, for their amazing deals on produce, and for their reasonably priced international snacks and candies. They've kept their prices fair even though some grocery stores nearby have been disappointing with inflation. They also have a great prepared food area inside the store on the right side when you walk in, along with a delicatessen and a bakery. I always order their fesenjan and koobideh. Their ingredients are always fresh and the dishes are consistently delicious and fairly priced. The generous portions of rice that comes with these entrees is always so fluffy, not oily, and perfectly made. This one's a gem in my community, and I'm so glad I discovered it a few years back.

First time at Mission Market, and I'm thrilled to be here! Walking in, I felt like I'd stepped into another world--so many sights, sounds, and smells, just about everything you could imagine. My good friend and calabash sister, SP, shops here 2-3 times a month and raves about the fresh produce and great prices. I was excited to take my time exploring this fascinating new place. The biggest challenge was not knowing what some of the items were, but that didn't stop me from browsing aisle after aisle; it just slowed me down a bit. After entering, I wandered through the produce section and made my way to the deli/bakery area, where they also have a hot food counter. This place is huge--bigger than I expected. The bakery had a pastry case filled with delicious-looking treats, and the hot kabob orders and fresh bread being baked right in front of me were impressive. It was a bit overwhelming, but I was determined to make the most of it. I thought to myself, "I'll have to order the kabob combination plate and eat it here sometime."As I continued exploring, I snapped some Yelp photos, capturing all the cool things I didn't want to miss. Then it happened."Hey, no pictures!" the deli counter guy exclaimed. I paused. "I need you to delete those photos." If he hadn't been so rude, I might've been more compliant, but as the saying goes, "Let's dance.""You need to delete those photos. You're not allowed to take pictures in here.""Where is that stated? Do you have a sign saying 'No photos?' I'd like to see it posted as store policy.""Delete those photos now.""Uhm, I don't think so.""I'm going to get my manager."I looked at him like he was nuts. I'm supposed to just say, "Sure, anything you say!"? Last time I checked, this is the USA. That attitude isn't going to work with me, Mr. Cold Cut Boy.At this point, my awesome first visit took a nosedive. This isn't a casino or a federal, top-secret installation--it's a neighborhood market, Mr. Boar's Head Ham on Rye! So, take it down a few kosher pretzel knots.Enter Shawn R., Mission Market's manager. We had a brief discussion, and I told him it was my first time here and that I was taking photos for my Yelp review. That was that. I bid "Mr. Bologna" farewell and spent the next 45 minutes enjoying the market. Shawn was great; he even helped explain some items I wasn't familiar with and directed me to check out the "Nut Bar"--which is just nutty, but pretty awesome.I picked up ingredients to make Chile de Arbol salsa and pickled Serrano peppers. (Some of the best produce and prices can be found at most Persian markets--true story.) I also grabbed a couple of new things to try.A few Yelpers mentioned experiencing discrimination here, which I don't support in any circumstance. (Well, unless someone's a blatant jerk; I might make an exception.) Discrimination happens everywhere, especially in South OC, and I've seen and lived it. However, most of the time, it's just ignorance.I often say, if you want to travel the world without leaving your neighborhood, visit a market that isn't a Ralph's, Albertsons, or Stater Brothers. That said, adventure and trying new things aren't for everyone; some people are too scared to step outside their ethnocentric bubble. Life is short--don't limit your experiences by getting in your own way.- Big Aloha!Food: 5Ambiance: 3Service: 3Value: 5

I read on Reddit that Mission Ranch had great koobideh. I stopped by late afternoon on Saturday and the store was packed. It is a little confusing when you enter the store. The deli/restaurant/bakery are to the right. You go to each counter to order. For bakery and restaurant you pay at the counter. The service at the restaurant was definitely lackluster, but you have to actively go and say you want to order before they acknowledge you. I ordered the plate with 2 beef koobideh skewers and the fesenjon stew (pomegranate stew with chicken breast meat). The total for both was about $34. I received my receipt and gave my mobile so they would text me in about 30 mins when my food was ready. The meals were generously portioned with lots of flavorful rice and the skewers came with a green box that had mint leaves, raw onion, butter and sumac. The koobideh were juicy and delicious. The stew was a little too sweet, but flavorful. I had enough food for a couple of meals. There is a small parking lot, but very busy and small spaces. I definitely recommend if you are in the OC area.
