Mario's Mexican Food & Cantina

I've been coming here since I was a baby. Service is always outstanding and the food is pretty good. It's your average Mexican restaurant style food (heavy on the sodium), but still delicious. The salsa is one of my favorites as well and margaritas are always pretty strong. One of the things I love is that inside the ambiance is so warm and cozy and it honestly reminds me of being in the pirates of the Caribbean and roaming the streets. It's just so fun inside and there's always something new to spot.

Their chips were warm nicely, salsas were spicy the one i asked. So far the food has been piping hot the way I like it. Ordered veg. fajitas and avo taco. Its very busy today since its nNew Years Eve. This place has been in business since 1969.

My favorite mexican food in the OC. Doing some shopping at 5 Points and stopped for lunch. They have a happy hour and their margaritas are really good but I'm just getting something to eat. They have a current $10.50 chicken enchilada combo. I got guacamole added for an additional charge.The service is quick and friendly. I sat in the bar area which is a great spot to watch sports. It is a casual ambiance and my partner enjoys waiting for me here while I shop. He usually gets wings or mexican pizza and some cocktails.Mario's is located in 5 Points Plaza where there is a Trader Joe's, a Bath and Body Works, several clothing stores and a thrift store and pet store. I can make a whole day here.The food is so good here, we always have a wonderful time!

I happen to be driving by and Mexican Food sounded good so I stopped in Mario's Mexican Food and Cantina . And I'm glad I did. The food was delicious. The customer service was great and they have a variety of Mexican dishes. This is a big restaurant with a Full bar.

Old school Mexican food, not the new gourmet stuff. This location here since 1975! This is the comfort food gringos grew up on. All the basics are represented here and executed perfectly. Of particular note are the fajitas, the chicken breast in particular is extremely flavorful, which is quite difficult as chicken breast does not absorb flavor that readily. If all chicken tasted like this, we would not need to fry it! Nice comfy booths and the lights dimmed. I love the atmosphere. Service is always top notch: helpers circulate keeping the beverages full, and the chips topped off!That picture of the spicy jalapeño margarita made skinny is my wife's favorite in the entire world.

I was happily surprised w the food and great service. We went on father day without reservation for 11 and even they were really busy we got seats, drinks and food really quick and everything was good.As u could notice on the picture the beans and cheese were over heat but I didn't care as keeping 11 plates warm to bring them at the same time I understand some got over heat but still taste amazing!

We had a delicious dinner at Mario's tonight. I love the Del Mar enchilada and my husband, the chicken enchilada and taco. We had great service thanks to Marco- he was friendly and personable!

Some of the worst service I've ever experienced. Decided to try out the Taco Tuesday deal at the bar but aside from placing my initial order nobody ever came back to check to see if I needed anything. Saw many of the waitstaff and the bartender going around to other tables around me to check in on them and see if they wanted anything. None of them ever looked my way despite the fact I kept trying to get someone's attention. It seemed like a place where the staff take good care of the regulars and ignore anyone else. Food was pretty good but I don't think I'll ever be coming back after this experience, I felt like I was invisible to the waitstaff

I can't say enough good things about this place. Started in 1969 by a Mexican immigrant, Mario's combines the warm, jovial atmosphere of a Mexican cantina with first class Mexican cuisine. My partner and I split the Tres Amigos fajitas and ordered a side of guacamole. The food was to die for, Margaritas were tasty, service was great, the chips were fresh and crispy. If you have friends from out of town or just want to dine at a first class homey Mexican restaurant,, this is the place to go!
