I've had tamales plenty of times, but I have never tried a Guatemalan tamale. The texture of the corn dough was much finer than the typical tamale I'm accustomed to, which made it taste richer. Being wrapped in banana leaves gave it a fragrance which added an extra dimension to the flavor. There was plenty of pork filling, but the meat was a bit on the drier side. Eating just one tamale kept me sufficiently satiated for lunch.Service was wonderful and friendly, and she patiently explained to me the differences between the different styles of tamales and pupusas. I ordered some additional pan dulce for work, which was a hit! The size of the pan dulce was impressive.

This Marilu's location (versus the OG one down a few blocks on Cherry) was less panaderia and more little cafe with an amalgamation of home-style Guatemalan, Salvadorian, and Mexican fare. My husband and teen ordered pupusas, which were piping hot and freshly made, with a generous amounts of filling (especially the frijoles). Their curtido was tangy and they had this awesome chile to spice it up along with the standard salsa roja. I ordered the molletes, fresh bolillo split and slathered with beans and a healthy sprinkling of white cheese melted on top. It was simple, delicious, and super filling. We got my toddler a licuado de platano. They must have known it was going to be for him because they mixed in some choco milk powder in too. It was SO much for the cost. I'd go back just for that.

The chilaquiles plate looked too big so I ordered a torta version. I asked if it was spicy and the lady said a little. She was right. It was just spicy enough for me. The griddled torta bread was super fresh. The chips were lightly sauced and placed on the bread with black bean spread, mayo, and crumbled fresh cheese. Before it arrived someone popped out and asked if I wanted onion on it and I said yes but no onions were in the sandwich so I blame my poor Spanish. The red sauce on the chips was pretty basic with a strange bitter aftertaste. Maybe it's more Guatemalan or Salvadorean than Mexican. I'm used to richer warm red sauces. All in all I like the place and people and want to try other dishes but wouldn't order this torta again.

Came here for their $3 Pupusa Tuesday deal. Very friendly and welcoming staff. They have dining room connected that was well maintained and clean. The food was fresh and we were also served a basket of bread and bowl of beans which was a nice surprise. All in all, a really great experience and value!

INCREDIBLE food at small bakery. There's so many pastries but their pupusas were the standout. For $5 you get a large pupusa which I think is a great deal. Kept me full all day.

BY FAR the best Tres Leches I've ever had. Hands down. No arguments. Don't @ me Service is always super friendly & the ambience is just what you'd expect from a small bakery. It smells great and is very welcomingThe flan is delicious as well, but the TL is a must try. You're welcome

This place is a mixture of Mexican and other Latin American flavors. I picked up a flan, a tres leches cake, a few sweet breads, and some pupusas. The flan and tres leches were only so so while the pupusas were decent. The best of the bunch were the sweet breads as they were very fresh and soft. The service was amazing and they have the best little saleslady working the counter.Recommend to try their breads.

Amazing baked goods! Incredible food. We love this place. It is a gem inside a street side shopping center that is well worth hunting down.

They have great pan dulce selection and delicious juices. Their pupusas are amazing! Loroco con queso and frijol con queso are a great. The portions and toppings are generous. The ladies are friendly and welcoming.

Great spot to go have pan dulce,breakfast, or lunch. Everything is so good! Plus customer service is great
