I recently placed a catering order for a Friendsgiving dinner and they did not disappoint! Our dinner was potluck style and the food I brought was definitely the hit of the night. I ordered 10 banh mi sandwiches (5 chicken and 5 pork), 20 egg rolls, and a platter of fried rice. Everything on their menu is beyond reasonably priced. $3.50 for a banh mi is literally unheard of in the OC!!! The egg rolls were 75 cents each and the fried rice platter was $20! Their bread is made fresh daily and you can taste the quality. It's soft, not too bready, with the perfect amount of crunch. The egg rolls were perfect too - a great combination of protein, noodle, veggies. I had a little leftover and ate it for breakfast the next day and it was just as good as the night before! Usually microwaving sandwiches and egg rolls aren't the business, but it still tasted fresh. My catering order was ready right on time and packaged with care to ensure nothing got soggy or spilled. I will definitely be placing future catering orders here and will be back for some more banh mi sandwiches!

Another contender on the landscape of Bolsa Avenue vying for your banh mi (sandwich) business, cafe sua da (condensed milk coffee) business, and che (vietnamese dessert) business.you enter a brightly lit store, scuffling on top of newly paved green cross-hatch porcelain tiles. it's got a clean crisp feel -- with white countertops and brown mosaic tiles all along the dessert & banh mi making counter. a gaudy shade of lime green paint and a silhouette of a passion fruit still hangs on one of its walls; remnants of the previous yogurt shop that left the scene. 3 desserts were ordered:*mini mung bean balls* yucca root & sweet potato w/ gelatin* sliced fresh banana w/ mini tapioca pearlsi must admit that these were all very delish. fresh from the day of. you know that it was not from the previous day, as tapioca will harden overnight. and of course, the fact that it was "not too sweet" was how i like it.the name of the business suggests that they carry:* desserts* coffee* rolled flour sheets (with or without minced meat)* food to goi didn't pay too much attention to the latter, so not sure about their selection. here's a few things that they could definitely improve upon:1) learn to multi-task. i told the cashier girl which 3 desserts i wanted, and she said that i have to wait for the other lady to assist me. really? but you're not doing anything else right now.2) the portions are very meager -- only 3/5 cup full of an 8 or 9 ounce cup. here's the problem. HK is directly across the street & they have been making impeccable che for over 20 years. they only charge $1.75 for an amazing full cup of yumminess whereas this place charges $2.00 for a 3/5 cup full of goodness. either use a small cup or give more! 3) they put coconut juice/sauce directly on top of the sliced banana dessert. some people do not want an entire ladle of coconut juice/sauce. most places will put it separately on a small container. 4) the glass countertop is so high you cannot make eye contact to place your order... or you have to kinda scream your order (not very classy having to raise your voice)FREEBIES **currently they have a buy 2 get 1 free promotion. BMCC has had that promotion all of their business lifespan. it's worked successfully for them, and their multiple locations w/ long lines proved it. $5 for 3 banh mi and $3 or 3 che. this place got sandwiches that range from $2.95 to $3.25 and che is all $2.00. BMCC's business motto works so well bc people perceive that they are getting a great value, which it totally is. IN CONCLUSION **the 3 che i tried are delish indeed. asian people work very hard for their money and they really value a "good value." i hope that this place can learn to offer what the patrons who come this plaza desire... and may they prosper.P.S. your dessert comes in an 8/9 oz crystal clear cup, but doesn't everything look more appetizing in a MARTINI GLASS? =)

Desserts that are served after a meal in Western countries are not generally eaten in Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam. Vietnamese people usually conclude their dinner or lunch with fresh fruits. Besides fresh fruits, our desserts selections are based solely on "xoi" (sticky rice) and "che" (pudding). Many of you have probably been familiarized with these desserts type as they are sold in many specialty shops in Little Saigon like Banh Mi Che Ca Li or Hien Khanh. The core ingredients in Vietnamese desserts are glutinous rice, mung beans, tapioca pearls, sweet yam, yucca root, coconut milk, rock sugar, palm sugar, longan, red azuki, and so on.We have recently become frequent customers at Mai Anh Thach Che, a fairly new Vietnamese specialty shop in Luc Dinh Ky / Cho Tam Bien plaza on Bolsa Avenue. This shop is brightly lit, looks organized and clean overall. Customer service is friendly and welcoming. They sell many different desserts as well as banh mi. Banh mi is available all the times and made to order, however, they serve different "xoi" and "che" and other desserts every day and or sometimes they run out of the popular items. So if you are looking to buy any specific Vietnamese desserts, you should call ahead to check. Their banh mi does not have an inviting smell of a good baguette and is very hollow inside. We ordered it to accompany with their Vietnamese chicken curry, which was spicy and so tasty, but don't get the baguette here.Banh bao (steamed pork bun) was yummy. The filling had Chinese sausage, a whole egg, and lots of meat. The bun was soft and smelled absolutely divine. This is actually the first place that I enjoy my steamed pork bun the most.Banh tet chuoi (Vietnamese sticky rice cake with red banana, steamed in banana leaves). This item is seasonal and quite popular here. Very good!I am a huge fan of "che". My grandma makes delicious "che" so whenever I come across a good place that sells "che", it reminds me of my grandma. And this is the place. Open late. Cash Only.

Overall, I like the place. However, there are things that I have to get off my chest. There is this lady who acts like she is the owner, I am not sure if she is or she is not. She is in her late 40's, skinny, tall, small face, long hair. She almost always seems to have an attitude with customers and is very impatient. The workers there are normal and I don't see anyone else who acts that way so this lady must be the big boss/owner here I suppose. I'd rather not seeing her there when I come because looking at her just makes me paranoid.I have ordered various types of banh mi and also egg-rolls. The egg-rolls were delicious, just the right combination of ingredients. The Banh Mi's bread was kinda chewy, not bready. The Banh Mi does NOT taste good after being stored in the fridge over night. So I guess your option is to eat it while it's new and fresh. I came a few days ago and twice I was told that they were out of Banh Mi at around 6:00PM. I guess they have been selling Banh Mi like crazy or something. It is kind of disappointing and a waste of my gas to drive here since this store opens late, but what's the point of opening late when you are out of items? Lee's Sandwiches got my $$$ instead from those two failed visits.I have not tried any of the sweet desserts since they are way pricier than Banh Mi Cali and Che Hien Khanh and I doubt that theirs would taste any more superior than the others so I passed. The one thing I like about this store is they now accept credit cards for purchases over $10 so this reason alone is enough for me to pick them over many other stores around Bolsa because I am one lazy person who does not want to stop at ATM machines that often and rarely have cash on hands. For that, I will give them a solid 3 stars. I hope they still have Banh Mi to sell the next time I stop by. If not, they will lose me as a customer for sure. I will give them just one more chance. Third time's a charm, after all.

Stopped by first time at this place today and got beef stew to go. Better that expected from a to-go place and it is cheap ($5). Taste better than it looks. They also have many types of vietnamese desserts.

I have been in the eternal search for the perfect bahn mi sandwich ... this place is pretty close to it. No, I am not new to Vietnamese sandwiches, I have tried many, many establishments in Little Saigon and this is a hidden jewel. My review covers two items: bahn mi and egg rolls, I can't say for the rest of their food because I haven't tried it. My usual order is the BBQ Pork sandwich, and yes, it is incredible. Baguette is uber-crunchy outside, nice and soft inside!!! Flavor: incredible!!! the lady makes the best combination!!, and the pork is always properly marinated, soft and full of flavor, crating a nice contrast with the fresh vegetables that accompany it.

Unfortunately THH was closed when I got to the plaza. While wandering around, I stumbled upon this place, thinking it would be a decent place to grab a sandwich. I ordered a bbq pork sandwich. About 25% into the sandwich, I found a small piece of thin wire while chewing. To be on the safe side, I ended up tossing the rest of the sandwich. Please don't waste your money here.
