Ordered takeout from here tonight and I was soooo satisfied. It's crazy how good food could make you feel so happy. I ordered 1 Pork Chashu Tonkatsu ramen with 2 and a half eggs since my bf and I were sharing. The amount of food was very shareable and the packaging was neat and well packaged. The noodles were perfectly cooked, al dente just how I like them. They had a nice bounce even after I microwaved them :) I liked the chili oil provided with my ramen. It was a light spice that didn't destroy my tongue. I ordered spice level 2.All in all I had a very nice experience with the host, and I thought the ramen was absolutely delicious. I worked at a ramen shop for 2 years (if you need some credibility for my review haha). All smiles in there from all the staff. Keep it up the great work

Wow, Kashiwa, what happened? Your food and service used to be great. Today, I went in, the 2 girls working there looked miserable being there. The non asian girl had a bad attitude on top of looking miserable. Anyway, I ordered the mazemen with cold noodles, and it was good. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the eggs were tasty, and the nori & green onion were equally balanced. As we say in japanese, taido warui ねいちゃんは gomen desu. I

Recently had a tasting of their Chicken Paitan Ramen on a cold, outdoor yelp event at the Santa Ana Zoo and I remembered how good it felt to have the savory chicken soup that warmed me from the inside-out. A few months later, I brought my wife with me to this store in Costa Mesa to experience this wonderful ramen. We went with the black garlic ramen with a mixture of their "swirl" broth (chicken and pork broth) and I chose my bowl as "level 2 spicy". (Their top level of spice was "3"). It was a perfect bowl of ramen as was warm and comforting, it had beautiful savory flavor, and the noodles were perfect. Before this place, I always had a preference for pork ramen broths, but they completely changed my mind. Consider trying their Paitan (chicken) ramen, or go for their "Swirl" broth (chicken and pork) and you wont be disappointed! It's perfect on a cold or rainy winter night!I also had chicken karaage and they do it nicely here. The Japanese Fried Chicken Karaage is easily one of the best versions of fried chicken in the world and it's also legit here.

The whole ramen shop is decked out in tons of Japanese related decor and I'm here for it! It's a small shop with maybe 5 tables and some bar seating, which is really similar to how they do it in Japan. The server here was so so friendly and helped us with the menu. I got the kombu ramen and a the poached egg rice combo. I love that you can choose your protein and noodle type. The ramen was good, and I appreciate that they give you a side of yuzu chili and lime. The ramen was packed with a handful of toppings and you get a good portion of protein and noodles. The soup itself was a bit on the saltier side for me, so I'd probably ask for it to be less salty. I did see they have a Tsukmen ramen so I'd probably try that next time. Parking is no hassle at all here which is great!

I tried a small sample of Kashiwa's chicken ramen at a Yelp event and was hooked. There are many ramen shops in OC but few, if any, that make a really good chicken ramen.Their shop is kind of hard to see from the street unless you're looking for it. The inside is casual and simple with a handful of tables. The menu is straightforward with limited options. You can customize your bowl of ramen the way you like it by checking off your selections on a piece of paper. I chose to try the Pork Ramen ($15) with wavy noodles and swirl broth (tonkotsu + chicken). The broth was just as flavorful as I remembered without being too salty. The pork was also tasty and they give a good amount of it. My take out order was ready quickly and they packaged everything well. The containers were sturdy and kept my food warm until I got home. This is going to be one of my go-to's for Japanese ramen now. Definitely check it out, especially for chicken ramen.

Noticed this place while driving by and saw the ratings, so we decided to try it. It was about 5pm on a Saturday and we were very skeptical due to there being only a couple parties eating. Several servers helped us and we're very nice and accommodating. The swirl broth was flavorful and light, while the tonkotsu was rich and flavorful. They also give quite a few pieces of pork. The wavey noodles were thicker while the straight were thinner. Personal preference as to which were better since they both were good for what they were. There were plenty of toppings included with both miso types, as well. Not pictured, but we ordered pudding to go. It is small, but really flavorful and worth the purchase. You also get a cool little glass jar out of it. We will definitely be back if we're craving ramen and in the area!

Adding Kashiwa to my family's list of favorite local ramen places! It was our first time here, so the server kindly explained how to place our customized orders. You choose the style of ramen, the broth, the noodles, the firmness level, and the toppings. I went for the original tonkotsu with medium-firmness wavy noodles, and it was excellent. Ambiance was typical Japanese ramen shop, bustling with activity but never feeling chaotic. Servers continually checked in to see how we were doing, refilled our water without us asking, and asked if we needed anything. Will be back for sure!

Seriously addicting! Fast service if you can get in. Make sure to make your ramen spicy and get a hot sake and a beer. Love the ambiance especially if you sit at the bar. Everything on the menu is a must order.

First time coming here. Loved their ramen and the service was good despite them being busy. I counted 8-9 tables & a bar that seats 4-5 people I believe. I'll come back here again whenever I'm in Costa Mesa.
