This place is spacious esp with little kids! I love how attentive and friendly the waiters are to them too.Food was amazing! We ordered a lot.. a lot of food for 4 people (2 adults 2 kids) and it's hard to find a good izakaya spot since Honda ya closed in city of industry.Bento box of tempera for the kids and skewers for adults. We've been here a handful of times after Disneyland and it's always a hit! Worth the wait :)

Everything was exceptional. First time to this place. Enjoyed much of the food (yakitoris) ordered. Refer to the photos taken. My favorite were the beef yakitori set, chicken gizzard, grilled whole squid, and spicy lamb chop. However, the size of the abalone butter lemon that was served didn't match up to the price. I understand that abalones can get pricey but even then it was dinky. Servers are attentive, quick, and friendly. Busy as it can get. Be sure to join the waitlist prior to arriving. Dark mood but lively. Plenty of seating. Will be back to try other items on the menu.

I absolutely love coming to visit this place! I'm usually seated right away even when it gets busy. I recommend placing big orders at the beginning of the meal. If you order takasei by the piece and intend to place partial orders throughout the meal, it'll take longer and longer to bring out takasei. I personally start off with 5 orders of pork belly, 5 orders of chicken skins, and 5 orders of something else I want to try. The ambiance is as chill as you want it to be, so if you want to have dinner with a friend and keep it classy, the booths provide enough seclusion to enjoy your meal peacefully. If you're younger and want to have a good time, DEFINITELY order some hot saki! The server may even take a shot with you, so if they are showing excitement, get ready to match that excitement by chugging down a shot of their fine hot saki. It goes very well with all their menu items. I look forward to my next visit. Their Takoyaki comes out extra hot and fresh. Please remember to be respectful to the culture there. They provide excellent service and everyone deserves to be treated with the utmost respect.

The food was amazing and very tasty, the restaurant is a little dark but sets a very interesting dinning experience .The service was alright our server only came around once and our sushi took a little longer than expected but our hot food came out really quick. I would definitely recommend and come back to Izakaya Takasei.

Stopped in for dinner w my friend, we both love sushi and this was the best choice given it wasn't too crazy packed yet at 6pm. Everything we ordered was delicious and flavorful. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Our food came in a timely manner. Parking gets packed but there are still plenty parking spaces all around the restaurant.

My family was craving sushi, another member wanted seafood, I wanted some meat. This gave us the option of this location. Outside may appear closed or dingy, but inside feels warm and comfy, as if it's a classic Japanese restaurant. Authentic decorations, Japanese level of service, and good food.Skewers (Izakaya) part of the restaurant priced between $3-8 for each, which can add up quickly. But they were al delicious. Tried liver, beef tongue, squid, shrimp, pork sausage, and some vege skewers. You can't go wrong with the classic steak skewers and compliment it with some Shitake mushroom skewers. The sushi rolls were good, but nothing stood out from them. It's above average sushi. Lastly the seafood hot pot soup was a seasonal dish ($36). It had a little bit of everything, and light seafood broth. It's hearty, not salty, and fresh ingredients. I would recommend trying this dish out if you see it on the menu.Dinner tab for 2 adults, 2 kids, was $200. It's a splurge for sure, but it's nice to go to an authentic dining experience (which you can sit on a tatami floor mat setting or standard booth style, good for large groups and romantic dinner. Service was outstanding. Every staff was courteous and refilled our drinks promptly and took additions skewer orders. One star knock for the women's bathroom not working, and the outside setting looking like this place was closed. Management, step it up, fix the sign, this place deserves some outside upgrades.

I had a fantastic experience trying out this spot! The skewer selection was on point--perfectly cooked chicken skin with a satisfying crunch, and the pork belly was incredibly tender with just the right amount of fat. The raw squid was a nice surprise too; it had a fresh, wasabi taste that paired well with the skewers. The chicken karaage was crispy and flavorful, and the beef skewer was juicy, cooked to medium perfection. I also tried the sake flight, which was a great complement to the meal. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys grilled skewers and wants to explore some unique spicy or wasabi flavors :)

I usually come here with my family and I'm always happy and full leaving. They have two options for seating, booth or sitting on the floor. The tables are quite big and there's a small divider between booths so there's some sense of privacy during your dining time. We always order a sashimi plate to share and it's very delicious. The food is definitely good here. The service could be better. They missed one of the things we ordered and they also didn't check on us that often so we had to get up and ask for water refills ourselves.

The food was amazing but the service was subpar. We had 6 different servers and they didn't communicate, leaving us without drink refills for most of the night. Luckily, the food was fantastic and it was some of the best, unique Japanese food I've seen in OC. I've been to many Japanese restaurants but I've never seen one as authentic as this either. They have tatami floor seating and menu items like fresh mochi pizza, steamed egg, and other cool items. The mochi pizza was fantastic. It tasted like a sweet cheese and stretchy mochi. We took bites of this with the dynamite roll which was made of warm, sweet and spicy scallops. The meats were tender and flavorful. The lamb chop was slowly cooked to perfection, coming off the bone so easily and it wasn't gamey either. The fish was fresh and buttery too!!
