Indian Vegan Cafe

FALSE ADVERTISING! This restaurant is advertised as Indian Vegan Cafe but the restaurant name is Southern Spice. We were so excited that we were willing to drive all the way from La Mirada to try a new vegan place. We had to call the restaurant to find where they are located. When we get seated, we get a menu and there are no vegan options. We ask our server if they have a vegan menu and he says we can only order vegan food for take out. This was disappointing and we left, hungry, without ordering anything. Totally bummed.

I've ordered from grubhub twice and it's so delicious I'm going to order every week. I love that the menu is 100% vegan so I can order anything in the menu without restriction. This restaurant's great because you get to try a large range of Indian dishes as a vegan. Also, the vegan alternatives are plant based not that fake meat vegan stuff most other restaurants have now. So I feel it's more healthy. Indian food is my favorite and I've tried every dish as a non-vegan so I can confirm these vegan options offered here are exactly like the meat originals as far as flavor and taste.Gave less 1 star because you cannot alter anything about the food or put in special requests. Which is fine but there should not be an option to do so if it isn't permitted. Example: I requested green chutney on the side, I selected the "add napkins and utensils", and I requested one of the dishes be made "not spicy". None of these requests were done.

This place is NOT fully vegan!! They only have a few vegan options, and are not even called "Indian Vegan Cafe", it's called "Southern Spice"; we had to call just to find out where they are located, and they said they're located "inside Southern Spice" but when we went inside we discovered it's actually one and the same business, again which is NOT vegan. And they only allow online orders. Very sketchy and scam-like overall.

I waited to post a review until I tried it a few times. Consistency is very important to me. I've now ordered 3 times and it is FANTASTIC. Delicious. I can't believe it's VEGAN. Portions are big. Plenty of leftovers and re-heats well.

We've ordered from here a handful of times already and been blown away by the flavors. Our favorite dish is the Tofu Butter Masala. The Saag Tofu and Tofu Tikka Masala area also great. Lovely to have so many tofu options!

My new favorite Indian food place! My entire family loved it. Already planning our next order and looking forward to trying some new dishes!

Okay so I have an update. We gave them another try and didn't get the korma which is white like pictured below. The Aloo gobi and the tofu tikka masala are VERY good. The kulcha and samosas are delicious as well. The only thing on the menu I will stay away from is the korma and we will continue to try more things!

Ordered keema pav which says on their menu description as minced plant meat cooked with Indian masala and paired with Indian soft brioche. The pav was burnt and the dish was a total insipid pav bhaji. Also ordered tofu burji which lacked flavor and was rubbery. Takeout ordered but they made me wait 15 minutes over the time given as they were busy catering to larger orders.Not going ever again.

food was excellent. they just forgot 2 dishes. annoying. but I will order again as it really was delicious. also, I wish they had vegan raita sauce.
