Holé Smokes

I originally visited this neighborhood gem as part of 2024 OC restaurant week.It took me this long to return, and I was quickly reminded... I'm not waiting to return!Don't pass up a chance to sink your teeth into the incredibly smoked meats and treats! The Tri It All family platter Served is 3 adults and one kiddo. Westill took home two boxes of leftovers! The brisket was really tender with good bark, sausage was spicy and full of flavor (good snap, too)- the ribs are meaty and the pile of pulled pork was amazing. The shrimp on the platter was a pleasant surprise.Several choices of BBQ sauce are brought to the table. I found the original sauce Smokey/Hickory and not too sweet.For the sides?? Plenty to choose from..We had Brussel Sprouts, French fries and (of course) mac n'cheese. All were incredibly tastey and cooked perfectly. After all that, who had room the Texas toast that was included on the platter?!Great, friendly service from Cesar. He was helpful with the menu, offered suggestions and very attentive.Full bar.And a pretty extensive Mexican menu, too.Would I go back? HECK YA!

3 Meat Combo - upgraded with ribs and tritip, creamed corn elote and Brussel sprouts with bacon. Homemade pickled onions we delicious. Pickles nice and crunchy. Appetizer trio - fried pickles, burnt ends in honey, and fresh guac with chips.Also enjoyed a grapefruit schofferhofer draft pint. Service was fantastic. Golden bbq sauce was the best topping for the meats. Can't wait to go back.

It's great to finally have a local BBQ place in Westside Costa Mesa! While the food is just okay and could use a bit more flavor--especially the sides and kids' options, which sometimes feel a bit overpriced--the overall experience makes up for it.Atmosphere & Service:The employees here are fantastic and the ambiance is awesome. No matter if we're a party of 6 or 20 (depending on which sporting event we're heading to next), they always accommodate us with a smile.Drinks:Their alcohol selection is top-notch, adding to the fun, relaxed vibe of the place.All in all, even though the food might not win any flavor awards, the convenience, good vibes, and stellar service make this spot a local favorite. We'll definitely be back for more!

My boyfriend and I came to Hole Smokes on a weekend around 12 pm, and there were plenty of tables available indoors and outdoors. I had ordered from food from Hole Mole that same week, and on the bottom of the receipt was a 50% off a brisket sandwich and fries, so we wanted to try it out since it was on our try list anyway. Alongside the brisket sandwich and fries, we also got the taquitos. The taquitos came out first, and I loved that it was filled with meat. I wish the tortilla was a little thicker to balance out the meat amount, but overall, still good. As for the brisket sandwich, the meat was incredibly dry, like hard and dry. Thankfully, our server brought us out a large array of all of their sauces, which I drenched the sandwich in to make it less dry. Service was great, super sweet employees. Not the best BBQ I've had, but glad I tried it to kill my curiosity.

The service here is always amazing, so friendly and accommodating. Happy hour is next level. The smash bigger, pork pulled taquitos with the go to fish tacos are worth the trip alone. Thier BBQ is incredible and the smoke beef brisket is amazing. Worth a stop by for dinner or just for Happy hour. Have new Happy hour menue. Vivian and Mya were amazing and always smiling. Enjoy!!!

Great outdoor service (had my pup on the patio) and surprisingly good food. Bbq places are always generally pretty good but getting value and quality for the $$ is always the tricky part. Got two sandwiches (brisket and brisket and link) with mac and cheese and fries. Also got burnt ends to top of the meal. The honey glazed burnt end was presented really nicely. The flavor was excellent. Some pieces were a little hard but nothing crazy inedible. The sandwiches had perfectly toasted buns. The flavor of the meat was a bit plain (but they do give you quite a bit of sauce options on the table so you can mix and match). The sides were more generous than I thought and both pretty good in itself. Service was fast and attentive. Overall I would definitely come back.

Atmosphere here is nice. It's a great place to watch a game and the game menu is very good. My favorite item was the brisket tacos. I would get those every time! The smoked wings are a little dry compared to other buffalo wings but I think I should have expected that given they are truly smoked. The SMOKE flavor was actually really delicious though.The wedge salad....it was exactly what it should be. The blue cheese was very good and the extra fresh blue cheese was great!Smoked shrimp was good. The shrimp were good sized, a little plain overall. I'm not sure the shrimp holds the smoke flavor well in general.My favorite part of this experience was the service! Honest, timely, helpful, and attentive! All the things you want when you go out to dinner especially when it's your first time somewhere.I will go back and try more items!

Great friendly service... everyone is very nice and welcoming. Casual atmosphere.The complementary Berndt and appetizer was a very nice gesture to start. We enjoyed all the food, especially the brussels sprouts with bacon. They were outstanding. Smoke brisket was done perfectly...enjoyed it very much. All the sides were well done, and the Texas chili was nicely seasoned and had lots of meat.Thank you, Holy Smokes, for a very nice dinner.

The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We were on vacation and decided we wanted bbq. I yelped some places and this looked the best. We order the shareable taste of everything. We loved all the flavors of the meat. The smoked flavor was amazing. Great margaritas and the kids loved the Mac n cheese.

Have been looking for a new bbq spot for my dad since Hambones left HB. Someone recommended this place. We ordered a tray for 2 instead of 2 meals based on a recommendation from the staff taking our order. I let her know my dad needed very tender meat and asked which would be most tender she said brisket and pulled pork, we got those and a link. We got macaroni and cheese and cowboy beans. To us the only thing edible was the cowboy beans. The brisket was 80% fat - very little meat. The pork was so tough and dry. The link was okay... not great and the Mac had no seasoning besides breadcrumbs. I will say the service was good they gave extra sauce and hot sauce to go.
