We came here on a Thursday night, crowds were low and we wanted to know what the hype was for the ramen. I now know. Made from scratch, from Japan. You can taste the authenticity in the flavors coming together. My husband ordered a combo and loved the spices, meat was tender and wasn't salty at all. Perfect for the soul and just when you need on a rainy, cold day. I see why many flock to this spot. I love how it's essentially a food court in a grocery store and you find yourself being able to choose to sit anywhere as it's so spacious. The energy is vibrant and ready to serve hungry customers. Highly rec!

I usually go to the Irvine location since it's closer for us but my husband insisted on coming to the one in Costa Mesa because only this branch has the spicy toroniku shio ramen. I'm not exaggerating when I say Santouka Ramen is our favorite ramen in the world especially we've been to Japan many times. We love the special pork that melts in your mouth after you soak it in the ramen broth. The shio ramen is flavorful without it being too oily or salty. We also love the convenience of this location being in the bigger Mitsuwa plaza so we can buy some Japanese treats and groceries while we are here. The only minus is this plaza gets very busy during prime meal hours so it was a bit hard finding parking and finding a table to sit at.

What I ordered:- Spicy miso ramenHokkaido Ramen Santouka has a wide selection of ramen, such as shoyu, salt, miso, and spicy miso. Each type of ramen contains thick, chewy noodles that absorb the savory broth. Although the broth can be overly salty at times, the strong flavor, quality noodles, and diverse selection of quality toppings (bamboo, kikurage, chashu pork, etc.) keep me coming back.

Review 6/365 My 1st time coming to Mitsawa Marketplace and trying Ramen here on Tuesday Sept 24, 2024.I love mee a good ramen bowl especially a scrumptious place along w spicy. What I ordered~ Toroniku Spicy Miso Ramen in Large $ 17.45 noodles are yummy, chewy and good. The broth is spicy but isn't as spicy as I'd like it to be. Broth was yummy and not oily. Loved it. The large size is good and can be shared, if not really hungry. The pork is tender. Definitely recommended.Service is fast & friendly. Just a bit hard w communication a bit w the associates. Located in the food court with so many food options eateries. Lots of tables available.Looks like a good legit Japanese Ramen restaurant.Menu is in Japanese writing. Cute booth in food court looking like a Japanese restaurant in Japan.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a very popular Japanese ramen restaurant chain hailing from Hokkaido. This particular location has been at the Mitsuwa food court for as long as I remember, and honestly it never fails to live up to its reputation as one of Orange County's premiere ramen restaurants, which is saying a lot since popular ramen restaurants come and go so quickly in Orange County. The lines are always a bit long at Santouka; however, the service is relatively quick and friendly. This time, I tried their seasonal Toroniku ramen which was amazing. The flavor of the broth went perfectly with each component, especially with the fatty pork cheek! It has definitely been a while since I found a ramen that I would happily slurp down the very last drops of broth as often times the broth is too rich. This broth felt light but flavorful, so this was definitely a pleasant surprise. Overall, Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is one of the best ramen spots I've been to in a while! Come for a light, but flavorful bowl of ramen.

Been coming to this particular ramen Santouka location for a number of years. The seating and ambience has definitely changed and a lot more convenient. The service is always quick, despite how crowded peak hours can get. The staff will clean up after your meals in a heartbeat. The only downside is that parking can be pretty difficult during peak hours, so I'd recommend coming either earlier or later than the normal crowd. Other than parking, the food is legit, all their ramen options are great and with the latest new menu selections the meat portions are incredible!

The line for this stall is usually longer than the others, and for good reason! The broth is rich and delicious. The noodles have the perfect chew.I'd say for the quality of ramen a good value.

When we visit Southern Cal from Las Vegas, one of our favorite stops is Mitsuwa Market Place. Since we usually stay at a Disneyland property, I prefer the Costa Mesa location instead of the Torrance location, mostly because I hate driving in traffic. We love ramen, and the ramen at Hokkaido Ramen is better than what I've had in Vegas, and the combinations are 1000% better! I got the salt ramen with natto Rice Bowl. Yes, natto, I love it! As usual, it was great! The soup was super tasty, the thin noodles were perfectly done, the char siu super tender, the rice was perfect, and natto was as expected, delicious! The only thing is the egg, which had always been cooked very well-done, and not a soft boiled, funny, ramen egg. It is marinated in the soy based sauce, but it's very hard cooked. The food court was packed, but our order was completed very quickly, and the servers here are super nice!

It's located in a food court, so we don't expect to have any service or a good ambiance. But the good news is that you don't need to 20% tips. I always enjoy Ramen and this is one of the better ones there.

This food cafeteria is popping! Do not expect to get your food quickly. When we came around dinner time, there were lines everywhere (especially at the Matcha dessert spot). I know, I know. How did I end up at another ramen spot when I am not a fan of ramen? Mostly... I wanted soup, and this was the closest I could get based on my options. Also, it was conveniently within Mitsuwa Marketplace so we were able to wonder and buy things at the grocery store and the Daiso market while we waited for our food. This particular food vendor was busy and rightfully so. My tastebuds were happy consuming this rich and fatty broth in combination with the tender meat, and other ingredients. See photos below. For what you see in the picture below, it costs $22. 57. The receipt is attached. All in all, I would come here to eat again.
