Hawaiian King BBQ

I've reviewed this place a couple times and it needs an update.First, the place is convenient if you're in the area, next to a Target, Ross, Post Office and a few other stores (and a chiropractor), though the shopping center is usually crowded and parking is pretty packed.Inside there is enough space for a few tables to eat at, and there are painted Hawaiian murals along the walls. I recognized the 7 Sacred Pools on Maui and Diamondhead on Oahu. This place seems to be primarily take-out, however, and you can call and place an order in advance. It usually takes about 15 minutes to prepare my order.My +1 and I usually get the same things. I like the #7 combo plate with barbecue chicken and barbecue beef, which comes with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. It's pretty filling. Sometimes I go for the seafood combo and order it with short ribs, which are delicious. My +1 usually gets the mini chicken katsu meal, but if she's really hungry she'll order the loco moco, which is decent and filling. Every now and then we'll add some spam musubi, which is a pretty good deal.The place has risen it's prices quite a bit over the past few years (which was the main complaint of my last review) but no more/less than other places so perhaps I was a little quick to be critical. Inflation being what it is, we still try to support local businesses like this one as much as we're able.

Food is amazing and the people are so nice!! Must try #1 and #33 eggs over easy!! This is my 3rd time coming here and it's just become one of my top 10 personal spots.

I came here on a Tuesday evening, at least within the last hour before they closed. The ambiance is not as vibrant or inviting and the restaurant was not spotless. I was hungry, so I ordered a barbecue chicken plate. The cashier on duty was not friendly and it seemed like they were ready to go home. I also noticed that upon closing, she just grabbed her taro boba drink to go and left without assisting her co-workers clean the restaurant. My order was ready within 7 to 10 minutes. The steamed rice was perfectly cooked and the macaroni salad was quite tasty. The grilled barbecue chicken was not spectacular. It was quite tender but disappointing because it kinda burnt and I only tasted a watery Hawaiian barbecue sauce. Honestly, I am disappointed by the cashier's unprofessional attitude, the lack of cleanliness at this restaurant and the subpar food quality.

Food was great!! Loved the loco moco. The servers were also very nice. Kids love the place too.

Food is tasty especially the chicken Katsu. Sauce for chicken katsu musubi is absolutely delicious! Plates are a bargain for the amount of food given. Inside is clean, ample seating. Very friendly cashier (person taking orders).

Came here today with my fiancée, ordered a chicken katsu. The rice was ok and the macaroni salad was as well however, the chicken katsu was so dry... it tasted like it was deep fried multiple times. Another negative point was the cashier, she was so unwelcoming... she didn't greet and even when I was leaving and said have a good day she just gave me a blank stare. It seemed like she didn't want to take my order. I rather drive to Fullerton and go to L and L. I gave them one start because at least my dry chicken was finished in 5mins or so.

Food is always good here.Service is great. Tiffany is always so pleasant when you are there. I'll have to try something new next time I go. Thanks Tiffany for the great service:)

Husband ordered the bbq chicken and short ribs plate. Both were delicious. The meat is soft, moist, and very flavorful. My kids love the macaroni.This place is clean and bright. The workers and I think the manager (a little Asian lady) are all very nice, friendly, and attentive to your needs. I recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner. You can't go wrong with good service and good food here.

Every food item we got was so fresh, hot, and delicious! Superb and friendly staff! I've heard that they do catering too so I'd love to give that a try. Would definitely eat here again!
