Wow, Chef Yokohama has rightfully earned his Michelin Star!!Master Chef Yokohama blew us away with his kokoro (passion for excellence)! He makes every dish seem simple as he goes about his work, but that's the sign of a true master when they make the complex look simple!Every course was prepared and executed with excellence, and every piece of his masterful work was artful in design and flawless is its execution. This is a FIRST CLASS dining experience that one must place trust in the hands of this master chef to enjoy it to its fullest - your true omakase!!

I took my boyfriend here for a birthday dinner recently after seeing that it has good reviews. It was both our first time at an omakase, so we weren't sure if taking pictures would be rude and decided to just enjoy the moment. The place is small and cozy. There was a total of 5 guests that night, including us. It was a very intimate experience since the chef prepares each dish in front of us and explains everything as he serves each dish. Everything were plated beautifully. We loved most of the courses, especially the sushi! My only complaint was the multiple dishes with the dashi broth. We had some served warm as a soup, some cold as gel, and some as cold soup. We both didn't like the taste of it, so it was a bit dreadful to keep seeing its appearance every so often throughout dinner.Overall, we had a great time and loved all the sushi. As someone who doesn't like raw food too much, I enjoyed it more than I expected!

Overall, Hanare was an incredible omakase experience. I made a reservation for 2 people 2 weeks before via OpenTable, and it was super easy to make the reservation, but you are also able to text them to make a reservation as well. My aunt and I sat at the bar (10 seats), which only serves the Chef's Omakase. I lost count of how many dishes total, but everything was so well presented and tasted amazing. The fish was high quality with the perfect rice to fish ratio for me. For your last omakase dish, we got to choose from an uni roll or toro roll, and I chose uni, but you could not go wrong with either one. Definitely worth a try!

This was my first time at an omakase. We were a party of 4 and came here on a Wednesday night for my friend's birthday. It was definitely an experience that I won't forget. The place is really low key and had a really amazing atmosphere at the store. We were served 10 courses and at the end it was filling and paced nicely. The fish and meat were so tender and fresh the best quality I have eaten. The service was quick and each dish was explained. Overall a perfect meal that touches on different taste buds.

Michelin Star well deserved, Chef Yokoyama presents an excellent coursed omakase with the usual stars like SB uni , wagyu, seasonal fish- but he makes sure to display his knife skill and layered umami especially with his use of hinoki mushrooms and tomatoes. 5 star food, presentation and service in an intimate setting. Located in the back of the Anti-Lab parking lot in Costa Mesa, this sushi spot is unassuming to say the least. However, you are literally transported to Japan- and this spot gives you the vibe of an upscale neighborhood sushi bar in Kyoto or Osaka. We enjoyed our omakase set here and look forward to returning for the a la carte menu.

Was able to secure a seat at my first Michelin star (and full omakase!) experience three nights in advance via text messaging, for a Friday 5:30 seating. The staff at Hana Re was not only able to graciously accommodate for a second unexpected guest that I asked to change my reservation to include, but also allow for a 30-minute delay when my guest hit an unprecedented wall of traffic en route. Discreetly hidden away in the bustling LAB Anti-Mall, a rope curtain inside obscured the 9 seatings in our time slot, each with a close view of the food preparation. We were seated and provided menus by a very welcoming hostess, who brought our drinks and also a few of the courses throughout the evening. Chef Atsushi explained the ingredients of each dish as they were served with a smile. My personal favorite prepared dishes included the unagi with foie gras, hairy and baby crab, A5 wagyu, and the melon panna cotta dessert. Standout raw fish included the toro (unimaginably creamy) and uni nigiri (usually sourced from Japan, but due to transportation constraints the chef notified us that our dish was made with Santa Barbara sea urchin). I stayed hydrated with one of the fruitier sakes recommended by the hostess. At $250 per person, this was probably the largest splurge I have personally indulged myself in and it was well worth it. During the lull between courses, both the hostess and chef made pleasant conversation with the guests. Will have to come back to try their different seasonal menus.

Loved our omakase at Hanare!! The locations a little hard to find at the camp. The restaurant was very understanding that we were running a little late. The food was delicious, each plate had such an exquisite array of flavors and textures. My favourite was the unagi and foie gras. The chef even checked in with us on how full we were getting so he could evaluate his rice ratios! Overall such a great experience.

$250 per person before tax tip drinks. Def an interesting omakase experience. There was almost as much hot dishes as cold which isnt common. It was almost a kaiseki style omakase. I would def recommend checking this place out if you want something different than the run of the mill sushi omakase.Dinner doesnt take too long lasting about 2 hrs. Ive def had longer/shorter omakases. I think my only critique would be that I hoped the sushi would have had more exotic cuts of fish instead of the tried and true toro, amberjack, flounder, etc...OR dressed up more creatively instead of just the nikiri brush on the nigiri. However, the other dishes were really creative and def made this experience worth checking out.Overall, would def recommend especially if you want something different!

The hubby surprised me by taking me here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary then Hana Re is the perfect place. It's a very small and intimate setting. Presentation is very beautiful. I have had Omakase many times and I have to say that Hana Re is easily one of my top 5 now. Otoro for example is always super delicious but otoro here was juicy! You heard me, it's juicy. I haven't had otoro that was juicy before. They use really high end and great ingredients and products in every dish that comes out. I truly felt like I was able to taste the different senses like sweet, sour, and savory. Loved that the pace was slow and I got to really enjoy each item that came out. Not to mention being able to photograph each item. They are also accommodating if there are specific allergies of different types of seafood you cannot eat.I highly recommend Hana Re. 2 thumbs up from this Yelper. It'll be a night you won't forget!Tips:*Reservations only.*Free parking at the Anti-Lab.*Restroom available outside.*Credit card accepted.*Alcohol accepted.*Michelin star for a few years.*Omakase $250 pp*Closed Sunday & Monday*Two times seating available 5 & 8pm.*Max reservation is for 4 ppl.

Went here for my friend birthday. Totally disappointed. They sat us at the table instead of sushi bar without noticing us. Didn't feel like we had Omakase. Food was mediocre and overpriced for what we paid. I would not recommend this place. 2 stars for the service.
