All the dishes are marinated flavorfully, so we did not buy any BBQ boosters.

Many menus include a salad. It is colorful, fresh, and surprisingly good - even for a meat lover like me.
Takoyaki is served in a skillet, but it is only mildly warm It has happy hour discount, but it tasted only ok.

MatchaMasu for dessert!!

This place is carnivore heaven!! Just step out of your car and let the experience begin with the scent of grilled meat. I drool simply walking to the door. I LOVE going here, especially for the lunch AYCE menu. It's easy to indulge in every flavor and repeat your favorites - over and over. The meats are fantastic, especially when paired with a Sapporo large enough to share. The flavors are more subtle- not overpowering. What's super cool is the ventilation is BELOW the grill, so the place isn't filled with smoke from cooking. The service is always spot on. Helpful and attentive without hovering. They happily bring delicious plate after plate. If you can, go after the lunch rush, and slowly enjoy your experience. It's sooooo worth it.

This has always been our go to japanese bbq spot for years. We first went to their San Jose location and then when we moved to the oc, we started coming here. They use to not have ayce menu but now they do! We came here recently on a Friday night for dinner and there was an hour wait which wasnt too bad.We ordered the ultimate ayce which was their second best ayce menu option for $65. Their lowest ayce option was the premium for $55 and their highest option was the supreme for $75. Our friends really liked the beef tongue and the filet mignon. I liked the toro beef and chuck ribeye meat options which were the thinly sliced beef. All the meats were tender and tasted good. There was a variety of side options to choose from...we got the following: avocado salad, spicy cucumber salad, cold tofu, cream cheese wontons, gyoza, kimchi, garlic edamame, broccoli with cheese fondue, and miso soup/egg drop soup. All the sides were great and loved the variety. The service was actually amazing as they were always attentive and we got our order on time. We didnt have to wait long even though they were busy. Loved the cozinesss of the place as well and their happy hour menu has cheaper prices for their drinks and a la carte menu items but happy hour didnt start till after 8:30pm. Their ayce menu prices are a little steep though so probably wont come all the time for that.

My last review was 7 years ago. I came back today for lunch. It's a Friday ... arrived at 11:30am. The KEY is coming at 1130, before 12 noon ok? Why you ask? Because they have only one server and one food runner. Service isn't top notch, but for the price of 14.95, you cannot beat it. Now, I am a huge huge frugal dude who hates spending money. So, when I eat out, I don't want my wallet to hurt. Yes, my wallet feels the pain of being thin...I ordered the lunch special. Made my wife order the lunch special too... because ... I'm paying the bill so she's getting the 14.95 special lol A few things: the first 3 rows are part of the 14.95, the last row (the much higher end meats) are $3 more. Do I recommend you try the $3 more meats? Sure ... but don't go cryin when your wallet hurts. Ok so, for $14.95 it's a damn steak. It's 2 choices of meats, soup, salad, and rice. How the eff can you ever beat that price? That's right, you freaking cannot beat it. So go here and just spend $14.95 for the lunch and thank me later. I got the angus beef rib and the toro beef. The marinated beef was top notch. The soup was piping hot. The salad was tasty. Oh the sauces... ponzu, spicy, and sweet soy. So amazing that I wanna go back right now !Anyway you're welcome. This is the best hidden secret in all of OC... $14.95 for a combo meal that cannot be beat. Ps. If you want brown rice instead of the white rice, you pay more. So stick with the $0 upcharge when getting the 14.95 and walk away being a winner lolEnjoy!!

Got the Ultimate AYCE menu because it comes with beef tongue. But you only get one plate of beef tongue per person :( unfortunate but it was so yummy. Great vibes with fun foods like making smores. I thought a lot of the side dishes and matinated meats were a little too salty for my taste. My server was super nice and gave great service on a busy saturday night.

This is a fun place. It is not pretty nor is the plaza it's is located in, but it's full of energy, a great attentive staff, and great food. I should add that the patrons contribute to this a lot because it's almost always good people here and there is a lot of great conversation and personal energy. It's not inexpensive, so plan on paying 50 bucks ahead plus tip.

*OC Restaurant Week review*We haven't been here in years because of the ever-growing number of Korean/Hotpot/BBQ restaurants in OC. We are so happy to discover they are participating in Restaurant Week. $35 per person for dinner ($25 lunch) includes rice, salad, miso soup, Gyu sushi, appetizer choices gyoza, spring rolls, wonton etc, BBQ items beef, ribeye, chicken, shrimp, veggies and dessert (vanilla or green tea ice cream). All the meats were good quality, tender and tasty. We also ordered happy hour cocktails for $6.75 (regularly $9)Thank you to Bryan (front desk) and our server Long for their friendly and cheerful service.Location is on Newport Blvd off the 5 freeway x Newport.

All meat is salted, service was slow. I have BBQ Japanese before and this it is not like Japanese style at all. Maybe it's not my style. Only matcha ice cream was good after all the salted and oily foods.

Went back twice just 2 days apart, after almost 9 years away, and I must say that quality is still amazing and TOP All meats (applicable to beef only, which is what we had) was so fresh and really good quality. All the little sides were also delicious. Some favorites are the spicy cabbage salad, spicy cucumbers, buttered spinach, green salad, mushrooms, and the miso and sea weed soup. Can't wait to go back !!

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The staff and especially the manager were rude. I've been there several times and every time i leave happy with the food and the service, but this time the food was burnt ( the noodles ) and the manager wanted to extra charge us for the leftover food which's the burnt food and she was screaming loud also there was an insect on the table and she was like that's something uncontrollable!! Then she even called the cops on us! Her name is Ari.I will never go back there.
