Review for cakes only: This is our go-to place for our office cakes! We had a yellow cake with vanilla frosting and it was delicious! The second cake we got was a strawberries and cream cake. I wanted to live in that cake!! Service has been great each time I've gone!Overall store is cute - appreciate the open doors but sometimes a few more flies/gnats get in than should be in a store - however if I was a fly/gnat I would definitely go here as well :) Maybe adding in a light windscreen would help.

Came back from Paris a week ago and craving croissants. Thought this bakery was named correctly so decided to stop by. Boy was I wrong. Bought a box of croissants, they were not flaky on the outside and tasted a few days old. Could have bought cheaper ones at Costco. So disappointed. Not Parisian bakers at all.

I bought a Groupon and was excited to go try this bakery. However, upon entering the employee told me that Groupon had run the promotion without their consent. Since I drove all that way, I ended up getting a ham and cheese croissant. It was your average ham and cheese. They have a large selection of pastries, cakes, and cookies that look interesting. Danishes and danish wheels are their specialty per the sales gal. They have variety in spades. I had a sample of the cinnamon bread they had out and it was on the dryer side. Parking was easy. Literally everything here is absolutely amazing. The staff are very polite and efficient and the place just smells like heaven.Love it, love it, love it !

Cookies and cupcakes were good. Customer service was nonexistent and I was the only patron upon entrance to exit. I wasn't greeted nor told "I'll be right with you"!. I actually felt as if I was intruding on unwanted territory.

Until 2/27 never had I had a terrible cake. I had asked the gal what cake was under the strawberry, she said white cake with strawberry frosting. I asked on multiple cakes before making decision . not one concern since every cake over the years has had many compliments this was not white cake, it was angel food cake , I would not have chosen if I knew that, the cake was mush with frosting, it was a birthday cake disaster. Even the birthday person took couple bites and threw the rest away. No one ate a slice more than half the cake was thrown away. it was a moist, mush angel food cake with frosting Heads up to others to ask when white cake is under frosting, ask more to not have a mush disappointed. The bakery is wonderful , other cakes have all been fabulous, Be cautious of white cake , The cake was a waste of money.

Cute little bakery with excellent offerings. The staff is super sweet and always incredibly friendly. I really dig the wagon wheels and the danishes which come in several sizes. Mmmm mmm

Thank you so much French's Bakery in Costa Mesa! My baby girls cake turned out super cute and it was delicious as always!!!!! I made an error in emailing the wrong location to begin with but it turned out to be the location I needed. I sent pictures of what I was looking for and spoke to someone who helped me with what the cake designer could do and I was very happy with the outcome. The white cake with natural strawberry filling w/ whip cream is our absolute fave cake. Super soft and delicious, has kids and adults coming back for seconds!Bringing in my own strawberries for this cake was worth it! Everyone loved the cake!

Update as of this weekend. Went to buy a cake from them for my husband & brother in laws birthday. I picked it up yesterday & today (Saturday) I look in the box & it has slid apart! This cake has come home from French's & straight to the fridge. The separation is messed up. Very awkward and disappointing

This gem of a sweet shop is not to be overlooked. No inside seating, no long line to wait in. The aroma will tantalize the senses. If you do have to wait, samples of fresh bread will make it worthwhile.
