I did some research and somehow last minute I noticed Five Vines Wine Bar on line before a trip to San Juan Capistrano for my birthday. Usually a wine bar has a small food menu, but Five Vines has an extensive one. I was lured by it, wine tasting options, seating inside or outside and 21 years and up age limit. An adult environment is important these days, quieter and cozier. For our visit, Five Wines didn't disappoint, it is easy to find, close to the train station. We were greeted right away, picked our own table, chose an indoor one since it was a tad cooler and their decor is so cute!!!We started with a Flight of Malbec and that was a great choice, you get to try 3 types. We also shared their Pear and Brie skillet which comes with delicious baguette, fun hot app, great for a romantic night out. We continued with a flatbread, got the Oh Honey one with bacon, goat cheese, basil, drizzled with honey, one of the best flatbreads we ever had! I got a complimentary Lava Cake since it was my b-day, they forgot the ice-cream, but they brought it in a nice dish. The cake was melting in my mouth. We also got more Malbec, you can get a taster, a glass, etc. Lots of options, in size, type of wine, they have an amazing menu. Great wines, great food, service, atmosphere. I really enjoyed a night out here, especially a celebration! They have a HH M-F, if you live in the area, take advantage. If you visit San Juan, this could be a fun place for lunch or dinner, nice atmosphere, one of a kind place!

First of all, this place is adorable! The decor and setup is really cute and feels rustic.Secondly, the food was great! Who would have thought we would be full off of 3 appetizers? There were 3 of us and we didn't end up ordering entrees. Our favorite was the brie dip. The bruschetta and spinach dip were both also delicious. The staff and owners are what make this place. They were all so kind and talked to us as if we were more than just customers. While we don't live nearby, we will definitely be back again.

I've never in my life made a bad review. I'm in the service industry and completely understand the struggles that come with it. Me and two girlfriends came in tonight and truly had the worst experience with the man that was serving at the bar. It felt as such we were inconveniencing him by coming in and giving him business, so we went to a table, he then served us half the time where a blonde woman came and stepped in. Only reason why I'm not giving them one star is because he half the time he was our server and the other half another woman was. She was so kind, and so sweet. I've always had good experiences here. I'm not sure if tonight was an off day for him but he slammed menus down. Couldn't give recommendations, was short and rude and overall not friendly. The girl with blonde hair was a saint and so sweet and truly the only reason why I'm not giving one star. I used to always prefer going to five vines over rancho Capistrano winery soley because they felt more "mom and pops" but after tonight I will refrain from this establishment based off this man's poor attitude. Food was good and wine was great, but feeling as though you're being an inconvenience to a server is a disappointment.

I came back here for another girls night - phots from the patio section. We ordered an array of starters and wines. The portions for the app are great for groups of 2-4. The veggies and hummus were seasoned well and fresh and my personal favorite could not be chosen this time as the bruschetta, tomato bisque with bread and spinach dip were equally stealing my heart. This was easily my favorite time stopping in for food. Appetizers and soup is the way to go here!

I was meeting a girlfriend for lunch and wanted a spot where we could take in the last bits of summer with some al fresco dining and Five Vines was perfect for that! It's situated on the cutest little street and was super lively on a Saturday afternoon - great for people watching! It's self seating so I chose a corner spot on their downstairs patio. Service was prompt, our servers checked in on us often, and the food came out so quickly! They were really friendly, refilled our waters before we can empty each time, and made light conversation with us. We ordered two wine flights, the mushroom skillet, the meat lovers flatbread, bruschetta, the beet and pear salad, seasoned olives, and two frosés to finish off our meal. The wines were all delicious! I'm not normally a fan of rosé but this frosé was such a treat to enjoy in the warmth of the patio. It's like the epitome of summer. The bruschetta and the mushroom skillet were my two favorites, although I wish the skillet would come with more bread slices. The salad was light, refreshing, and perfectly dressed. Wasn't a fan of the flatbread. It tasted like a frozen one to me. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and hope to enjoy it every summer!

We were seated immediately on this Friday night at about 6 p.m. and the service was excellent. My wife and her friend had the Hummus Dip plate and Honey Baked Apple Flatbread. I sampled both and thought they were well-prepared. I had the "Zucchini Carbonara with Prosciutto". With angel hair pasta and lots of garlic cloves and bacon, it was an interesting twist on classic carbonara and it worked well to create a tasty dish. I would have preferred prosciutto instead of bacon, fewer garlic cloves and more zucchini. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the dish. My Dark Star beer on tap was the highlight of the evening.

Five Vines wine bar is one of the nicer places in San Juan. Maybe even the nicest. Oh and incase you didn't know (because I didn't) they have food. Not just snack and apps to eat while you sip on wine, but a full on menu. Let me tell you! It was amazing! My favorite item so far was the pear and Brie cheese skillet. Highly recommended by Stephanie who works there and a total sweetheart. Their wine selection is awesome! It's not over the top with 50 pages of wine to choose from and a table of contents at the beginning to guid you through the menu. It was full of smaller vineyards with a great selection. If you like to sip white wine in summer, or cozy up with a nice glass of red in the fall, Five Vines is the spot. Very friendly staff and great experience. 100% will be returning for the food, the wine and the great experience.

I'm late giving my review! Five Vines is a freaking GEM of an establishment. Family run. Gracefully survived Covid (miss those hay bails!) and is just delightful. Great food and superior service. But be nice, the wait staff is busy. For a reason! Happy to return time and time again.

We booked the upstairs area for our wedding welcome dinner, and BOY was that a great decision! Suzy made the event a sheer joy for us and our hundred-odd guests. The food? Delectable. The chicken wraps and various flatbreads were standouts for me, but literally everything was tasty. We got copious compliments on the food. The decor? So frickin' cute--and perfectly in line with the vibe of our wedding. We loved the literary touches and all the little tchotchkes on the walls. The indoor/outdoor nature of the space was perfect because it allowed folks to go out to the balcony for some fresh air and quiet. There was a small mix-up with whether we were doing a cash bar (my fault), but Suzy quickly adjusted mid-event.It's expensive to buy dinner for 100 loved ones; no getting around it. But the value we got at Five Vines was exceptional. Cheers to Suzy and team for a really delightful experience that added a lot to our wedding week.
