Food is good, ambience not so great, kids being worked. And to top it all off shady charging practices charging tax per item consumed instead of overall consumption. As a Mexican consuming Mexican food I wish they had more honest practices. Never coming back to this place.

This has been my to go place for over 10 years. The food is amazing. It's authentic Mexican food and not your average taco shop. It's family owned and run so the service can be a little slow but it's still great service. The place is clean but not a fancy elegant place (so don't come here for the looks) I usually have the huaraches and their house sauce is delicious! I will continue to come here (when I have the time to dine in of course lol) would definitely recommend!

DOLLAR TACOS!!!! I repeat...DOLLAR TACOS!!The only caveat is that they're served weekend evenings. My favorite is the al pastor. First runner-up: Miss Asada. It's a friendly family-run business in a sorta shady-looking strip mall tucked behind the Chevron gas station. No need to fear...I've resided in the neighborhood since 1998, walking distance from this joint. Oftentimes I take it to go, and then come back later in the evening for more. It's like having a taquero in my backyard!!There is inside dining, but I like sitting outside the storefront under the pop-up canopy that shows up on the weekends. Sometimes there's disco lighting!Parking doesn't seem to be a problem. There's street parking on Trask or in the neighborhood as options.

I've been coming to El Chilango # 1 since the original owner was here she was an amazing cook who reminded me of my mom's cooking. Her daughter who runs the restaurant now was always there and she is very polite and friendly not only with longtime customers but with new comers making sure they enjoyed their food. For those who know what a real Mexican fondita looks like you will feel at home. The decoration is very tipical of a restaurant, and they have some interesting pictures of what Mexico City looked like decades ago. Roughly I've been coming to this place for about 27 years and every meal is delicious as the first day I came here, consistency is crucial and I believe that's part of their ongoing success. On the weekends don't forget to have a Plato of menudo () oh yes and have some tacos de canasta hope you try this restaurant soon. Note: They are no affiliated with any other restaurant with same or similar name. This is a family owned restaurant and their parents must be very proud of their daughter and her family.

Absolute LET DOWN. Probably the most bland "Mexican food" I've ever tasted in my life. They even managed to mess up the agua de limon & flan...the most simple part of the order. The gordita was SMOTHERED in grease. Took one bite, spit it out, & ended up throwing it all away. It seriously hurt to do that because I hate wasting food but there was no way I'd eat that. Do yourself a favor & skip this place. I promise you're not missing out on anything.

The food here deserves a Michelin star. Honestly, the huitlacoche quesadilla was probably the best thing I've eaten this year. The tlacoya de frijoles was a bit bland, but the cantaloupe agua fresca was outstanding, and the coffee flan was to die for. Super laid back - seating indoors or outside in the parking lot with great music. Super kind service.

Rating this because I didn't seem legit, was a little sketchy. Food was whatever! But could use better salsas and that could help the good ultimately
