I came here instead of Cava and instantly regretted it. I should've gone to Cava. I spent $27 bucks on rabbit portions and flavorless Mediterranean. I want my $27 back.JUST GO TO CAVA!!!

Your faithful and favorite Yelp correspondent here, writing you from the Irvine branch of DonerG after four prior stops at their Lake Forest and Anaheim venues. Tonight's NBA match up between LA Lakers and the Denver Nuggets is an apt metaphor for how tonight's dining experience went. Stay with me here, and I'll elaborate. After four straight 4 or 5-star visits to companion stores in Lake Forest, I drove the extra ten miles past Ball Avenue on the 57 FWY (Anaheim) to sample the Irvine branch. Like the Nuggets, the 2023 NBA champions who've throttled the Lakers eight straight times in the Mile High City, I arrived expecting a fabulous, memorable feast. Instead, the only thing I feasted on was my beloved Michoacana wife's irritated comments and strained face as she endured, by her appraisal, a meal unworthy of DonerG's reputation. Leti ordered her and my signature dish at DonerG- The Chicken Kebab Platter, while I sought to switch things up by ordering a Chicken Doner Bomb plus a Chicken Pita Wrap for takeout. While the Irvine staff BENJAMIN, NAIM and an unnamed young man with tousled black hair and Eurasian complexion were all polite and service-focused, I wished their attention to the finer details of food prep kept pace with their counterparts at other branches. Specifics: *The Chicken platter warranted three demerits: a.) Some of her chicken morsels were overcooked, leaving the meat dry; b.) The signature hummus was missing; and, c.) The tossed green Mediterranean salad, usually generously bathed in a shower of lemon vinaigrette, was also dry and skimping on the dressing. *My Doner Bomb was a solid "B," but the fries heaped on it weren't even remotely hot, let alone warm. The fladenbrot pita bread used to cradle the hearty, vertically-roasted chicken shawarma was toasted to a delicious, crackling mouthful. The Irvine store benefits from a fantastic location that screams "curb appeal" and "dine here" to all of the surrounding foot and vehicular traffic. Restrooms were reasonably clean and stocked. My bill was $48.90 for three entrees, one soft drink and taxes. While the Lakers did their city proud by outclassing the Nuggets by 22 points to smite the eight-game road losing streak, it proved my overall point. Just as you must PLAY THE GAME instead of jumping to conclusions, so must DonerG guests not assume that every single meal will eclipse the 4-star or higher mark. Tonight's meal and dining experience merits 3 stars.

Likes:+ Yummy food. Variety of healthy ingredients. I like the exotic sauces offered with the order.+ Plenty of indoor seating.+ Each order comes with a wet wipe.+ Efficient service.. Ample but often crowded parking.Non-likes:- Their website wasn't working, so had to order pickup thru 3rd-party app.

Love Doner G. Prices are super reasonable and ingredients are fresh. Plus the staff are pretty friendly. I really love the chicken shish kebab. It takes like 15-20 min to grill up but it's worth the wait. I like the choices of toppings/veggies they have and portions are awesome. The doner meats are pretty good too. My husband and kids like it a lot. They especially like their iskender sauce. They said it tastes like really good tomato soup haha.

Short and to the point. They're located at the corner of Lake Forest and Rockfield. The plaza gets really busy at dinner and parking can get quite packed at times. It's been a while since I dined at Doner G's and I don't recall everything we ordered, but I can tell you we LOVED their food. Everything was well seasoned and so delicious. I constantly forget that they're there, so I need to visit them soon. I've been craving the fries! I guess I'll head over this weekend!

The concept is cool but the food failed to deliver. I got the Istanbowl with a mix of rice, chicken, beef, salad, pita bread and falafel. It was okay. I did not like the pickled onions so I had to pick them all out. One of the women making the food was nice while the other one couldn't even crack a smile. She also handled the food in a weird way and just gave off such negative vibes. The chicken and rice were the best part of my bowl. Each meal also comes with 2 free sauces. I recommend the garlic sauce.

The food is delicious, not too greasy or heavy. Also the service is always very nice and accommodating. A well-run friendly neighborhood spot!

Best Turkish in town and Marlen is also the best. Super friendly and always with a smile. Cannot get any better. Gracias Marlen :-)
