Considering there are NO Hong Kong cafes in north OC, as a SGV native I'm very thankful that there's a DFC here in Irvine.Went early Sunday morning so the place only had four tables filled, very quick service. We did the congee breakfast combo with chow mein and a ham and egg macaroni soup with a pineapple bun with butter. Drinks came with the combo which is great. Both the iced lemon tea and iced hk milk tea were great. The chow mein seems to come out the fastest as the staff served every table who ordered it as the side with the chow mein dish first. Chow mein needs more wok hei but this is for all the DFC locations in my opinion. Macaroni soup was standard, just add some white pepper powder to your liking. I think the disappointing item was the pineapple bun which was really small and under toasted (not sure if you can tell from the photo). I ended up taking it home to toast more and it was much better.

Relative to the other DFC's, I believe this one upholds the chain reputation. Quality of food is good, and is satisfying for anyone craving HK style cafe cuisine. Interior is bright and new still (not sure when it opened) so it's welcoming and warm. It certainly can get busy for breakfast so come earlier. Parking is plentiful. I had no issues with service of the waiters.Try one of the porridges, it comes with choice of fried dough, rice roll, or chow mien. And it comes with choice of HK milk tea, lemon tea, coffee, or half milk tea half coffee. All classics.

Let me preface this review by saying every Delicious Food Corner has a different set of staff/owner/rules so the quality varies greatly from location to location. This specific is located in the Zion Supermarket Plaza and one of the newer restaurant additions. The interior and menu looks exactly like every other Delicious Food Corner. NOTE the menu prices are slightly higher since we are in OC compared the SGV locations. The issue with this specific DFC location is the staff literally does not GOF about service. As a result the food quality from the kitchen suffering significantly even the exact same items from other locations. Note you DO NOT get free white rice with your entree orders at this location! No they will not refill your iced lemon tea either, and you literally need to beg someone so you can get your check and pay. We visit all of the SGV, Diamond Bar and Chino Hills locations VERY frequently and even recommend those locations to family/friends. But this one I would NOT recommend with the million of other food choices in Irvine. We've given this location at least a handful of opportunities to change our opinion but sadly the same every time. I mean if you absolutely MUST have HK food but don't except tasty good. You will likely get super greasy shell of itself lookalike items. Unless management corrects the many issues and attitudes of the staff we would NOT recommend this place to anyone in there right mind for anything resembling HK/Canto cuisine.

More recently my parents have been wanting food from Delicious Food Corner. I will say that the food taste good, but the personality could change. What I mean by the personality is there is a young man at the front who isn't very hospitable or welcoming. The last time we ordered food to go, I paid upon arriving. I was told to go sit down and wait for my order. Granted it was already past the time my food was supposed to be ready, but without complaint I waited. Watching orders on the to go table get pick up, I was waiting for my order to be announced. Now two bags came out and nothing was announced. With no enthusiasm to really help, I asked the young man if these two bags were my order as one had a different order number on it. He pretty much said "yeah". Without announcing the order being ready for pick up, I probably would have been waiting longer unless I went to the table to ask about the order. Plus without any enthusiasm to help me confirm my order, I just took the two bags and left.As for the food, sure it taste good, but the personality could use some improvement. The kicker I'm beginning to notice is even with take out and some restaurants they prompt you for a tip without even providing the service first. Wish I could take my tip back.... So minus personality, I do enjoy their food. So hard to give a poor review.

I am a fan of this restaurant, and I hate to give a two-star review. But when the operations of the restaurant completely broke down -- in both the kitchen and the dining room -- management needs to know.I will just state the facts. We arrived around 3pm today, December 16, 2024, and the owner/manager Steve himself led us to a table by the window. We no longer saw Steve afterwards and believed he's probably gone home.About five minutes later I tried to flag down someone to place my order only to be ignored. Eventually one of the servers asked another server to take our order. We ordered a French toast, salt and pepper wings, and half a soy sauce chicken. Our drinks arrived promptly and about 10 minutes later the French toast arrived. But that was the end of it. We waited a long time for the rest of our food.At this time, I observed that the operation of the restaurant was appearing to be breaking down. The table to our left complained that he had been waiting for his rice noodle for a long time. Eventually he ran out of time and paid the bill and asked the rice noodle to be packaged to go, but the staff could not find his order.A uniformed staff member from the kitchen, probably one of the cooks, was messing around in the dining room and chatting with the waitstaff -- essentially interrupting and hindering their work. I began to wonder why our food took so long. That particular kitchen employee continued to hang around in the dining area and not in the kitchen which I believed was strange. Two tables to our left was a party of three who were already there when we arrived, and they just began getting their orders half an hour later. A while later they asked one of the servers to check on another dish (appeared to be soy sauce chicken) which arrived maybe another 15 minutes later. I could tell they were not happy. Two tables to our right, a customer who came in at about the same time as we did was also waiting for his food a long time (he just received it right when we left after 4pm).On the bright side, one of the servers was really hard working. He was clearing up and cleaning tables while taking orders and delivering food.On the other hand, there were several uniformed and non-uniformed employees walking in and out of the kitchen and around the restaurant but none of them bothered to attend to the customers. It's been 45 minutes, and we were out of time, so I asked one of the servers to check on our wings. He returned to tell us that "the order did not go through". We did not have time to wait anymore so we asked to cancel the wings but to get us the half soy sauce chicken to go.Most of you know how long it takes to cut up half a chicken -- maybe a minute? But another 15 minutes later still no chicken. We had absolutely no more patience, so I asked to cancel everything and paid the check and left.

THE absolute staple in my Chinese immigrant household. If we are craving the itch for HK style food, we no longer have to make the long drive to the 626 for some of our classic favorites and instead drop by Delicious Food Corner in Irvine. Food: 5/5 My dad and I have been here at least every month to get our Cantonese food fix. Some of our favorites:- Chow Fun - Scallop Fried Rice- Roasted Duck(On special occasions, we also order Lobster Noodles as well but it can be pretty heavy.)Service: 3/5Service here is hit or miss. Although the place is very clean compared to other restaurants, there has been several occasions where our order might get misplaced or some of our dishes would arrive before we get our appetizer. But as a no frills HK style place, I also don't really expect that much but wanted to give future visitors a head ups to align expectations. Parking is plentiful and easy to find.

The Local Cha Chaan Teng in the Heart of Irvine?Pretty sure this location came after the one in the 626, but regardless: cha chaan teng vibes replaced the old Chinese restaurant that was here a while ago. So out with the old, and in with this breath of fresh of air, mixing up the Asian food scene, serving up some of the best HK cafe style cuisine here in Orange County.Came on a Monday over the holiday break, and we were seated promptly. Place was super busy, but we waited maybe 5 minutes tops. Menu is ginormous, and it covers the whole gamut from HK milk tea to pineapple buns to wonton soup to clay pot rice and HK bbq. So what did we order?Triple Combo BBQ Plate. A must order. You know when you walk into a place and see the requisite meats hanging in the window. Screams legit. You have a few great options, and we got the necessary two: roasted pork and duck. If they do this good, you have to come back: and we will! The pork was so tasty and juicy -- not dry like other places -- for both duck and pork, which was truly a delight. But when we bit into the pork belly, the skin was just so crackly crispy and the fatty meat just melted in your mouth by the skin... I got sucked up into BBQ heaven. Definite recommend. Every visit.Wonton Noodle Soup. A solid order. Soup was full and flavorful, but a touch on the light side. Noodles nice and chewy, and the wontons form right, not too soggy. Recommend.HK Style Stir Fried Spare Ribs. A sweet and sour dish with some pork pieces with some bone in there. A surprisingly good dish that had a very decent sauce that had the right balance of the sticky sweetness and sourness. Meat was tender and not tough; the peppers and onions crisp. Can also recommend. The variety is pretty wide; and the portions big. If you want great value and great taste, try the Delicious Food Corner. The name says it all! We will be back for more in the near future.

Delicious Food Corner brought me back to my childhood and remembrance of my father at classic Hong Kong Style cafes. The service was very responsive. Ambiance was mediocre, a room with tables and chairs. Several tables were left dirty after dinners departed. I thought the Preserved Egg and Pork Congee was flavorful! Congee was a bit thick but I rather have thicker than watery.Spicy House Green Beans were delicious and cooked well. Not soggy! Chicken wing are good.Dim sum was mediocre. It was missing flavor , perhaps lacking some spices. Haw Gow, Shu Mai, Bamboo Rolls in Soup and Garlic Spare Ribs (missing black bean sauce).

Very casual restaurant but the food was delicious. If I lived closer, I think I'd visit this place regularly.
