I had a strange experience at this location's Coco. I ordered a level 2 spicy curry with vegetables and my friends also ordered curry entrées. Upon tasting my food, it was strangely sour. I ate a little more thinking it was the spice level as I don't usually order Japanese curry with spice. But when I tried a potato and carrot piece to confirm my suspicions, they were so incredibly sour like someone had soaked the vegetables in vinegar for a really long time. It was so off-putting, that I couldn't eat anymore. None of my friends' orders had this issue. I brought this up to our server and the staff handled it exceptionally well. They apologized, comped my meal, and remade a new dish for me. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to eat much more as the previous flavor was still stuck with me. But I did appreciate the restaurant's efforts to rectify the situation.

Great place to satisfy your curry cravings when you dont have the time to make it at home. That said, Id rather just make curry at home. The food was decent and filled me up. I got a large regular spice chicken cutlet with vegetables. The potatoes and carrots were slightly undercooked and tough to chew. Chicken cutlet and the curry sauce was delectable. The plaza itself gets crowded during the weekends and the place is far too small so you often have a long line to dine in. But thats why there is also a to-go store right next door. The restaurant is not bad but I do wish one didnt have to pay extra for vegetables and extra spice. Like is the extra 20 cents really that important to make my curry slightly spicier? Other than that price was reasonable. Me and my gf totaled to about $41 with 18% tip.

We've gone here many times, but today was quite disappointing.1. A couple came in AFTER us and was seat AFTER us but got to order before us. We had to flag down our waitor to order. It wasn't even at a particular busy time of eating (around 330pm)2. I ordered level 5 keema curry, and it wasn't spicy at all. I'm used to getting level 4 and wanted to go up a notch, but it didn't even have a hint of spice on it. I'm thinking someone messed up the food.3. My wife's potatoes in her vegetable omelette curry tasted bitter/rotten.4. My water was never refilled despite me drinking it all halfway through our visit.Needless to say, I'm not sure we will be going back anymore due to the bad service.

Checked out this Japanese curry chain, and not much to complain about. Overall, a great experience! Free parking available as it is in the jamboree, they have two gender neutral bathrooms, and they use an online self-order and pay system through your phone. You scan the QR code at the table, and they include a physical menu at each table. It looked like each seating area had a spice shaker and another container to hold tempura flakes, I think... but our table oddly didn't have one. They have a good amount of seating for the size space they have-- some tables, some booths, and counter seating. There is much variety on their menu that makes them vegetarian friendly! Along with having traditional curry omelette with cutlet, they also have udon options as well as options for vegetable only, seafood, or simple omelette plates. I ordered an omelette plate and added on a chicken cutlet which tasted great! Only notable things are that I wish there was more curry because I did run out eating some with each bite. And the cutlet was a little dry, potentially overcooked a bit.The staff was very kind and attentive, even as there isn't much interaction due to their self pay online service. Each table does have a button to call for a waiter, which we used to ask for a to-go box for our fries (a 7/10 considering it was well priced at $4.99 very worth it!). Would not opposed to coming back!

The food was decent. It's just like any other curry though. Nothing particularly special but it was good. I don't think you can go wrong with it. The workers were nice though, which is a plus anywhere tbh bc some people are rude, and the decor was pretty.

Curry House Coco Ichibanya has a big reputation, and for good reason. Originally from Japan, it's no surprise that it's always busy--this place has a loyal following, and the convenience factor makes it an easy go-to for a quick and satisfying meal.We started with the garlic naan appetizer, which was fantastic. Fresh, warm naan slathered with garlic butter -- need I say more? It's simple but hits the spot. For my main, I ordered the omurice curry with thin-sliced beef. The curry itself was rich, flavorful, and lived up to the hype. However, the portion of beef was disappointing--barely enough for a bite. Considering the cost of adding meat, it felt like a letdown. If you're looking for more value, I'd suggest sticking to the standard curry options or trying other add-ons.Service here is what you'd expect from a fast-casual spot: efficient but nothing to write home about. They take your order, drop off your food, and refill your water without fuss.Yelp Adventures 2025 - 2 of ??

Food:Came out quickly around 4PM on a Monday, it wasn't too busy then but got busy later in the evening. I tried the keema curry, it didn't taste like Indian curry to me more like American chili but was still tasty! Service:It was quick and attentive.Ambiance:The store had a variety of seating with booths, bar, and table seating.

Coco is still our go to Japanese curry restaurant in OC.Wait times can be long, but the food is worth it. The katsu is flavorful, has a nice crunch, with decent portion sizes. Curry is tasty, and you can adjust the spice levels (at an extra charge). Adding thinly sliced beef enhances the meal got sure. Service is quick, but you order by yourself and have the meal brought out to you. Interior is a little cramped at times. Parking is in Diamond Jamboree, so hit or miss in terms of ease.

When I found out that this chain was in Irvine, I had to visit. I loved this chain in Japan. When you walk in, it is setup exactly as the chains in Japan. The menus are exactly the same but in English. They provide utensils in the a little tub just like in Japan. Garlic Naan 4/5 - don't remember seeing this on the menu in Japan. We tried it. It was good and great for dipping in the curry. Chicken Karage Curry over egg and rice 5/5 - tastes just like in Japan. Curry is packed with flavor with the right amount of thickness. Chicken Karage itself was very good like the ones you find in Japan. For this meal, I felt like I was whisked back to Japan for about 45 minutes. Loved it and would definitely come back.

I ate that dish so fast and was looking for any chance to taste more curry! Their food is BUSTING as the new generation would say!My wife knows I am a very particular person with my food choice. I usually don't rate ANY dish a 10/10 unless it was that great. I give this dish a 12/10. I couldn't stop talking about it on the way driving home. Had to be hooked up with some extras to bring home. I cannot wait to taste this amazing curry. Thank you to the team with a loving customer gift.We are looking to come back for brunch.
