I am heartbroken !! Citrus Cafe is CLOSED. (We showed up today, Monday, for lunch & saw the 'store closing' sign. I obviously didn't check Yelp first....I knew the location, hours, favorite menu items,etc.....we've been coming for a decade or more after all...&had just been there the week before Christmas.)We are So Bummed!!!....We will miss the great food of course....but most of all we will miss our Friends!!...Greg, Jorge, & (I am embarassed to say, I missed her Name!)..,the sweet, kind, funny woman who always greeted us with a smile !! Greg always knew our order without asking....& unless there was a storm brewing outside, we always got seats on the patio!!! I certainly hope all our friends, as well as the cooks, land somewhere awesome. I wish we knew changes were coming, we might have been able to exchange info & follow our friends to their new restaurants!!! (If Greg sees this, we welcome a text/message/whatever) You all will be missed. Best Wishes!!!!

It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that I am here to report that as of today, 1/5/25, that Citrus Cafe is closing their doors after today's service. It's my understanding that the owner of the property has sold the land off in order to work on another food venture in the coming months. My family and I have been coming here for over 25 years. We feel that all of the servers, bussers, waitstaff and Shirley the manager has been like an extension of my own family. They will all be sorely missed. The good news is that they are taking names, numbers, and emails from the customers to contact when the new venture starts.Quick shout-out to Misty, one of our best servers ever. It has always amazed me how she can come over to a table of 5-6 people to take their order, never write a single thing down including any specialty requests and never get anything wrong with the order by memory. Along with being one of the nicest, kindest, sweetest people you will ever meet. She always remembered the last conversation that we had and what movie we were going to see or book that you read. She truly has superpowers. Also, Jorge. Another top-notch server who has taken care of us for over a decade. Knows the whole family, always cheerful, and such a terrific person. He was always great about making sure that coffee/water is filled and checking on you to make sure that everything is good. Charlie and Aricella also provided a terrific experience to all of their customers. And Shirley is truly that friendly matriarch that makes everyone feel welcome like they are old family coming for a visit, every time. We will miss you all tremendously. It's amazing the outpouring of love from all of the patrons to the staff and from the staff to the customers. But this is YELP, gotta do a food review. And, as always, even on their very last day, everything was spot-on and perfect. The restaurant was clean and tidy. There were 4 of us in our going away party today. We thought it would be busy, and it was. Glad we got there early. We ordered 2 of the steak skillets, one of the salmon hollandaise, and a steak and eggs plate. As expected, the taste was fantastic, and every item cooked correctly to our requests. The service was terrific, albeit a bit tearful for all of us. We did exchange numbers and emails with several of the staff and will keep in touch to patronize wherever they end up or for when the new venture starts. If you have never eaten here before, it was/is one of those truly iconic places that is its own local legend in the community. Truly the end of an era.

I was craving diner breakfast and this happened to be nearby me and bookmarked already. I ordered the steak and eggs, and loved it so much that I went back again the following week. I use to be a norms person but this place tops. The steak comes thick, charred, and perfectly cooked. Service is phenomenal, i usually at the bar area. bread and butter is not usually my thing but they do it well here. Crispy despite having butter on it. The environment is busy and friendly.

Great service! Solid food too. It is one of those places you go because you know the food is consistently good. Having said that, it is not outstanding food when it comes to flavor etc., but it is good. Definitely worth a visit, especially for weekday breakfast when they tend to be slower.

Let me start by saying the staff here is AMAZING! Total sweethearts and make you feel at home while you're dining. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon (peak brunch hours) and they were able to seat us right away. The menu is your classic diner food with items ranging from sweet n savor breakfast options to basic lunch like sandwiches and burgers. The portion sizes are huge!I got a steak skillet as it was noted to be a fan favorite. It comes with your choice of egg, I got scrambled but would suggest sunny side up (I just don't like runny eggs). The meal itself was a bit on the oily side but seasoned really well. It also came with your choice of fruit/toast/muffin on the side and I chose the blueberry muffin - yum! Others at the table had pancakes, hashbrowns, an omelette, etc. They know how to make some crispy hashbrowns! Next time I'd try a sweet opinion like their french toast or pancakes combos. A great spot to try if you're not trying to wait 1+ hours in line for those other brunch places, the only caveat is that they close at 2:30pm!

I am so bummed this place is closed. No one has the vegetarian eggs Benedict, that was my favorite with home fries. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

OK, so we found a new breakfast place. It was so good. The food was amazing. Everything was made fresh the service was over the top with Jeorge and I forgot whoever the managers name is but she was awesome. She even brought out a candle to put in my wife's birthday biscuits and gravy, it's got a cool vibe. I definitely like it and will be back

Do not confuse this place with Citrus City Grille in Orange, 2 completely different concepts and restaurants. My husband and I were in the area on a Tuesday and stopped in for breakfast. Food here is massive! We could have shared a plate. We each ended up taking half of our meals home. I had Canadian bacon and eggs with hasbrowns, and my husband had a hamburger patty with eggs and country potatoes. Everything was tasty. Bar area was cool, but we weren't in the mood for a drink. Service was good. I prefer places where I can order a lunch item, such as a tuna melt at breakfast time. I cook eggs all the time, so most breakfast plates don't wow me. You're not allowed to order lunch items here until 11. Parking is spacious, and it's a solid spot if you want a classic breakfast.

tl,dr: average American diner.Likes:+ Food tastes good.+ Attentive, nice, helpful staff.+ Plenty of parking.+ Decent ambience. Quiet enough during lunch hour on a typical workday.Non-likes:- They only had one type of bread/toast that day.- Typical American diner food: unhealthy. Lotta grease and salt. Lacking emphasis on vegetable variety in the main course meal (in my case, the steak skillet doesn't boast lettuce or tomatoes, for example). This is me though, placing standards on health when it comes to dining.- I can feel the menu isn't clean.- The Yelp check-in doesn't offer anything.Overall I'd give this restaurant a 3.7 for not providing healthier complements within their typical American meal.I had:$22.88 (steak skillet) +$4.95 (juice) + $2.16 tax =$29.99

This place falls under the category of "driven by it several times but never stopped to eat here until this morning". A big part of that might because they are only open for breakfast and lunch until 2:30pm. They also don't open until 7pm whereas must breakfast places open at 6am. Expecting it to be super busy on a Saturday at 10am, it wasn't that bad, except for a couple large, and loud, groups in the main dining room. Walking in, there was someone behind the front desk probably punching some orders in the register. She didn't acknowledge us and eventually walked away. There's no sign (that we saw) that said "please wait to be seated" but it looks like you can go into the room with the counter and seat yourself? Or just sit at the counter? I couldn't tell and we were a little confused. Finally, a very sweet and nice woman let us know she would right with us. Not wanting to be annoying, I didn't just stand right at the front desk, but a few feet away. Well, maybe I should have because another family came in and immediately stood there was the nice lady came back and she took their name, then took mine. Then, she seated the family first, even though we had been waiting and she acknowledged us first. Oh well, we got seated shortly after, and in another room that was quieter. This was nice as the main room was seriously bustling with noise. We were given menus, offered drinks which came pretty quick and placed our order. One thing I noticed about the menu was a statement about not asking for substitutions on Saturday and Sunday because they are so busy and that the server is not authorized to make any changes. I'm like... what? What if you have an allergy or maybe just want something a little heathier? It's can't be that hard for the kitchen to put something else on the plate beside exactly what the menu says. Luckily, I was able to order my French Toast without whipped cream as that's just a little too sweet for me. After our order was taken, we waited. And waited. Being a connoisseur of breakfast places, trust me, this took way longer than most. I didn't look at my watch, but it felt like it was 15-20 minutes before we got our food. Our server did come over and let us know it was coming, and did apologize for the wait so I assume this was a one off? The food was plentiful. The hashbrowns alone took about 1/2 the plate of the omelet taking up the other 1/2. The Frech Toast was what I expected. We asked for our check and a to go box from the server, then the nice lady that seated us also asked if we wanted a to go box and brought us one before our server did. Not a bad thing, just something worth mentioning as they obviously had good teamwork here in making sure the customer is taken care of. All in all, for $48 for 2 drinks and 2 breakfast entrees', it was an OK experience. I don't live in the area so it's not a place I would go out of my way to visit, but I would eat here again when I have the opportunity.
