the service was unreal in the best of ways! they gave us water and tea as soon as they gave us the menus. i and another person had just ordered the sweet and sour pork and the beef crispy chow mein with a side of rice. it was way more filling than i thought! the bathrooms, decor, and general vibes are very family and fancy that i felt so special. when the bill came, they gave us complementary sweet rice porridge and my mouth will never be the same. i'll be back!

There's a reason this place is three stars. First the good:The BBQ pork and duck combo is amazing! So juicy! The walk fired asparagus, while very tasty were cooked into next week. They needed to cook those about half as much, but they tasted good.Soup dumplings, okNo noodle soup dishes on the weekend!? WTFWIERD menu in terms of what you can and can't order.Service was typical

Our group of 12 came here for dinner tonight. The restaurant wasn't super busy but they did have some diners at the time we were there,We had two different soups first: Thai soup with seafood and tofu with seafood soup. The Thai seafood soup was good but it was luke warm and not hot. It would probably taste better if it was hotter (both temperature and spiciness level). We also had a whole bunch of other dishes. My cousin ordered for the table so I'm not sure of exact name for each dish.I liked the scallops. My favorite! Very good and perfectly seasoned. My husband loved the shaken beef. That is always his favorite every time we dine at Asian restaurants. :)Sautéed green beans were also good. The spinach or some sort of greens stir-fried with crab meat was very good. Xao long bao. Just okay. I've had it better at other restaurants. We ordered the crab fried rice but didn't see ANY crab at all. Not sure if they misheard the order. That fried rice was below average. There was literally no meat at all and only few peas & carrots. Tasted like fried rice at some fast food restaurants. The charsu pork/chicken/duck platter was meh. Too much fat.Peking duck was also very fatty and the skin was not crispy. Photo didn't upload correctly. Steamed chicken was cold chicken and with skin on so I didn't eat it.I think the forgot our sea cucumber dish because we waited forever and that never came out. When we finally found a waiter & flagged him down, he brought it out not too long after. That was good.Food was good overall. Definitely some room for improvement on some dishes though.

Capital Seafood has been an Irvine staple for quite some time now, and I'm a bit sad with all the average reviews it received. I'll preface by saying I mainly come here for the dim sum. And let me tell you, their dim sum offerings are some of the best I've ever had!Ok ok, I haven't been to China, but I've been to LA, I've been SF Chinatown, I've been to Singapore...And still I would probably pick here for dim sum. Siu mai - one of the best.BBQ pork buns - delicious flavor.Soup dumplings (XLB) - ok yea, it's no Din Tai Fung. But still pretty good!Shrimp stuffed eggplant - yum.Bean curd roll - really good. Also they have one of the best chili sauces. It's not just that basic chili oil that some restaurants provide. Adds a lot of flavor to your dumplings and buns.

I never thought I would ever write this review with one star for Capital Seafood. Never. Tonight's experience was absolutely horrendous. I've always enjoyed our food here and honestly the food was still good but that's not what i am going to talk about this time around. I could never understand why it was rated so low. Tonight explained exactly why. We went for dinner on Christmas Day. I know very well that restaurants are usually short staffed on a holiday. I get it and I understand. I also even tip very well despite restaurants usually being very busy and slow, understandably. I'm not even mad about that when it happens. I understand that people are working so that we can enjoy a meal at their establishments. I am grateful for the workers. The problem here was that there was a total lack of customer service. We came and got seated right away, which was great.--6:00-6:55pm ordered our food. 4 dishes and 2 soups. -The soups came out within a few minutes. --7:09 the veggie dish came--7:22 chicken dish came At this time we started to get really frustrated that our food was not coming out all at the same time. This is when we noticed everybody from different tables would get one dish here and one dish there. Someone was screwing up in the kitchen. And when I say screwing up, I mean badly. Instead of cooking an entire table's meal, it seemed that whoever was cooking, was cooking batches of whatever and they would send it out to all the individual tables at the same time. --7:37 noodles came Now the chicken was already cold. This really pissed me off at this point. Who wants to eat food that is freaking cold that's supposed to be hot? We then asked a worker what was going on with our food and why everything was coming out separately and so far apart. This is when our server decided to tell us that the food was taking 45 to 50 minutes from the time of ordering to the time of delivery. I was in shock. Why would you not say this to anybody before they start ordering. We were like it's almost an hour and we still don't have all of our food. All she could say was sorry. It's not her fault but she didn't tell us anything. Didn't check up on us, didn't apologize for the delay, nothing. No communication. We had to pull the information out of her. --7:59 we asked again about our food. By this time it is now over an hour since we ordered. A different server told us that our order was in the computer, but that the person in the back was messing up orders and mixing them all up. Therefore, our food never got cooked. He asked if we still wanted the food to which we said yes. Our son is waiting for the pork chop. He specifically waited for the pork chop and has not eaten and he's starving. My poor son, literally almost ready to cry because he was so damn hungry. --8:08 the pork chop finally came outNobody warned us ahead of time that they were 45 to 50 minutes behind on cooking food. Nobody. I have been to restaurants before where they gave us a heads up that they were very behind and I chose to stay even with the delay. But to not say anything upfront was really not cool. So many tables sitting there looking extremely irritated. I didn't quite catch this until it happened to us. The table immediately in front of us even left after they got the first two dishes from their order. They just couldn't take it anymore and left. This by far was the most horrible experience I've ever had. It took our food 78 minutes to all finally be on the table at the same time. We were there for almost 2 hours because we still had to eat and pay for the bill. I love their dim sum, and I would still probably go back just for that. Look through the menu photos that I've posted. Prices are insane and portions have shrank considerably. I can sincerely tell you I will never go back for the regular food. I will only dine here for the dim sum moving forward. I know times are tough, everything's costing more and more nowadays, But the portion sizes and the price that you pay is absurd. Not to mention service isn't great. I think Capital and I are gonna be on a little bit of a break for a while.

Our group of ~9 adults, 2 kids, and 2 toddlers stopped by for lunch this past Saturday, 1/11 around 1 PM-ish and was shockingly able to grab a single round table right away. The service was honestly great and typical of a dim sum restaurant. The food was solid for a dim sum restaurant. The highlights in my opinion were the spicy green beans (actually a little spicy), shrimp har gau, and Hong Kong Style Chow Fun! We ordered A LOT of food that all came out shockingly quick. I think if I wanted dim sum in at the mall or was really hungry, I would definitely come back! I solid location.

Good service and okay ambiance but food was mediocre at best if the point of comparison is to Hong Kong or Canadian dim sum. Better off buying supermarket frozen dim sum. The seafood fried rice was very good. Some items were okay, the egg tart was disaster.
