Today I stumbled upon this delicious place and was not disappointed! My sons got the California bowl with carne asada it comes with chips and they have a salsa bar. We took our food to go and I always have to have a "tax bite" it was very delicious the flavors melted together so perfectly! My very picky teen came out of his room just to say how amazing the food was! And the chips ooooo sooo good!!The carne asada was of good quality the flavors were great, staff was very patient and friendly while we decided what we wanted to tryHighly recommend!

I do not get the hype around this place. Always packed always commented. It's definitely California style so don't expect anything authentic here. Had the Carne Asada burrito expecting to be good, tasted not much better than Chipotle and $3 more. Barely any flavor. Service was timely given rush hour lunch. Salsa was Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but tough to give another chance.

WOW So glad to have found this gem! I found them on Instagram. The food looked delicious so I had to stop in. Easy to find! Indoor and outdoor seating! Salsa bar was also super. It was clean and the salsa especially the green one was tasty! It wasn't watered down at all! The chips were perfectly salted! I ordered the California bowl and asked if I could do half steak and half shrimp (it wasn't on the menu that way) and the gentleman was very kind and had it made to order.I love that they served the bowl in a nice glass bowl! Most restaurants use paper or styrofoam and it soaks up all the juices leaving food dry but not this place! And they were very generous with their protein.They had a nice crowd and a couple takeout orders! I sat outside and the food was brought out to me. The service is professional and friendly. I'm definitely coming back and would love to try their breakfast!

I think this place is hyped because of the area it's in. Influencers have really did a good job at making this place look better than what you really get. The restaurant was clean and a little small but plenty of seating available when we visited. I ordered the same exact plate I seen posted on IG and that is not what all that I got. The quality and quantity of the food was not worth the $50. The carne asada was rubbery and rough. I am not a Chipotle fan yet I would rather go there than here. They have a garnish bar which is the probably the only thing I actually liked.

I honestly cannot remember where I saw this place reviewed, but I'm sure glad I saved it! I wasn't far from here on business so I figured I had to try it. It's in a small little strip center with various shops so it doesn't really stand out. Let's take food! WOW!!! The chilaquiles were insanely delicious! The portions are massive. I got the red and green chilaquiles combo with the steak and eggs over medium. It was a huge mealI somehow powered through about two thirds of it because it was soooooo good!!!! The service was great and they offer indoor and outdoor seating. I definitely recommend them! Come hungry and from what I saw other folks do they would share!

Best Mexican food in the area. I go mostly on taco Tuesday's, but rarely get the taco's. If I do get a taco it's the blackened fish taco's. I lived in New Orleans for 10 years, and these are the best blackened taco's I ever had. I also recommend the shrimp enchiladas with green sauce, and the chicken mole enchiladas. The salsa bar is also very good. I like to mix the 2 salsa's together, and throw in some cilantro. My wife who always tags along because she is an awful cook, also loves this place. Just kidding. I never bring her.

$18 dollars for burrito that only had asada, onions and cilantro. Crazy world we live in nowadays. If you want Mexican and you're in the area Hawaiian Gardens is literally down the street. I have been local to Los Alamitos my whole life. I came here when this spot first opened years ago and wasn't impressed. However, I don't remember the prices being this high. This will be my last time trying California Cocina. If you need a few alternatives to this place that give you more and better food for less here are some: Taqueria Mexico (Westminster), Tacos Los Cholos (Multiple Locations), Pepe's (Hawaiian Gardens), Tacos San Pedro (Hawaiian Gardens). My favorite out of those is tacos Los cholos. If you're spending $20 dollars on a burrito there, it's gonna be a ribeye steak burrito. But if you're in the Los Al area, just hit up either of those Hawaiian Gardens spots.

Located in a very small plaza, California Cocina is a popular neighborhood eatery where you order and pay in advance at the counter and choose your seat amongst the 10-12 tables in-store. It is cozy yet quite bustling even on a random Monday evening. The highlight of this restaurant is the price and the portion sizes. I ordered the carnitas nachos and the taco combo for around $34. There is a salsa bar with red, green, and pico de gallo as well as some sort of pickled onions and peppers. The nachos come heaped with guac, sour cream, and cheese - there were enough to stuff myself and take home what looked like a brand new order of nachos. The taco combo comes with 2 large tacos, 2 sides, and chips. Service is very quick as well. Four stars because while the food is good, the flavor was a bit lacking. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit but if you're in the area, this place would be a solid pick.

Place is really good, good service small inside hard to find a spot and that's why it's a four star food is great but if you wanna sit down and eat, it's hard always busy.

Taquitos de papa!! Sooo good!! I actually was going to stop at another place for lunch but as I was walking past this place I pulled over or the side and checked out the reviews and the food and the reviews was amazing. So you know I had to stop by. They have a reg menu and also a special menu where I located the taquitos de papa. You do Order at the front. They have a self serve salsa bar and they also offer you chips when you dine in. The staff was on point with making sure the were well taken care of. Loved how they were playing salsa music which made me want to get up and dance. This was a pretty busy place and so worth it. Make sure to stop by.
