Les S. "This place serves several variations of mazemen (brothless ramen) but I think Original Mazemen is the way to go. It comes with spicy minced pork, poached egg, green onions, chives, seaweed, garlic, and fish powder. Flavor isn't quite as strong as places like MoguMogu, but I also don't get as much of an MSG attack either. I tried the Bulgogi Mazemen and Tonkotsu Ramen as well, but they weren't as good as the Original. The Tonkotsu Ramen tasted weird so I never ordered it again on my repeat visits. Service was friendly but the staff can do a better job in explaining how to eat mazemen for first time customers. There's an instruction on the table but would be nice if they can give verbal instruction and offer some rice at the end, instead of having to ask for it."

Yelen P. "Arrived about 90 minutes before closing. Ordered 4 dishes and still managed to leave in time.Food:All the banchan (side dishes) were so good. Not a single bad one. My favorite was perilla leaves, just because I love the flavor, but everything was good. Anchovies were also good- spicy beef soup - could have used more beef, but this was very tasty and brought back a lot of nostalgia. It was spicy but not too spicy.- spicy acorn noodle - also good- spicy stir-fried squid with udon noodles - a big serving. the udon was very slurpable. There was a lot of spice, but it wasn't too spicy. A good amount of squid. We ended up finishing everything.- to-go: noodles in chilled white bean soupThe prices were reasonable.Service:The man was friendly and helpful. The food came out quickly enough. They don't offer you extra water, so you have to ask.Ambiance:I loved how unassuming and family-feeling it was. They showed a Korean TV channel and played old English language songs. The focus is on the food. A place that Koreans frequent, so you know the food is good. The bathroom was clean, there were seat covers, the soap smelled good.Would definitely return."

I ordered a Medium Boneless Honey Butter Garlic Wings that came with 1 choice of side, and I got the Mac Salad. The food came out faster than the Flash Avenger! The wings' flavor was on point--delicious, crispy, and moist! The Mac Salad was creamy and yummy! Overall, I am definitely coming back with my friends! I'm impressed with the flavors and the variety of sides/appetizers to choose from! They even offer chicken bowls and a chicken burger. The staff was great, and there was no wait at all! Both are delicious though I liked the spicy yellowtail best. The medium spicy house sauce (you can pick the levels) definitely had a bit of gochujang in it and it was very well balanced. I do think the fresh salmon could use a touch for lemon for a more distinct taste. But overall ver satisfied. It's a comfortable and casual spot, and service was very nice, so all in all very satisfied for a quick bite. I'll be back!"

Paik's Noodle

Andrew K. "Paik's Noodle is one of the most globally popular Korean restaurant chains, known for its signature Korean-Chinese (Sino-Korean cuisine) dishes. They, of course, are Jjangmyeon (black bean noodles), Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). Paik's Noodle owes its popularity to the speed and consistency of its food preparation and straightforward creation of the delightful, familiar flavors of the dishes.Paik's Noodle also offers a good variation of its signature dishes and the prices are reasonable. The Jjangmyeon starts at $10.35, most dishes are under $15. You can swap out the noodles with egg-fried rice.If the combined heat and flavors of the Jjamppong dish - which starts at $13.45 - need a real kick, you can order it with more gochujang (traditional fermented hot chili paste). There is also Beef Jjamppong option which is a non-spicy variation without the seafood mix. The Tangsuyuk, $15.45 is their most recommended dish. Their version is prepared with fried pork (sometimes it is made with beef), along with cabbage, sliced carrots, onion, and wood ear mushrooms. The tangy sweet and sour sauce was just right, and not too sweet or heavy. It is best to share this dish while ordering your noodle dish for a more satisfying dining experience.Other dishes on their menu include Creamy or Chili Saeu (fried shrimp), Hong Kong Wings (spicy, soy garlic wings), Gunmandu (pan-fried dumplings), and Bokkeummyeon (stir-fried noodles). The noodles are perfectly cooked whenever I dine at a Paik's Noodle restaurant. They are bouncy, chewy, and always taste fresh. Pickled daikon radish accompanies every dish.I do not have many complaints about the food, but I was disappointed that their portions were not very generous. Their prices are low, but you should be able to get a decent amount of food, compared to its competitors and other restaurants that may specialize in Sino-Korean cuisine. But they get my approval for the variety and consistency of some of my favorite dishes."

(Caribbean spice, honey garlic). Small 8 chicken wings soy garlic. Small 8 boneless chicken soy garlic. 2 gyoza. The reason why this will be the last because it looks like there wasn't any sauce on the chicken and we had to pay extra to add more sauce. Who does that...as you can see from the pictures...it's just a small drizzle. Which was really sad. I love to eat the picked radish and we also had to pray extra for more of the picked radish....it seems this place is money driven...not customer service driven. The server didn't seem to help us. Wasn't kind or friendly. Also one of the Togo boxes had a dead bug in it.....so yah...no thank you."

We usually frequent BCD Tofu House, but we decided to give this place a shot, and we're so glad we did!We ordered tofu soup, cold noodles, and the tteokbokki with ramen, and everything was absolutely fantastic. The portions were huge, and the tofu soup was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The broth was rich, complex, and tasted homemade. It even came out boiling hot, which I love for soups--it made the experience so much better. The cold noodles were also delicious, with fresh veggies that were perfect on a warm winter day in Southern California. The tteokbokki with ramen was another highlight. The portion was massive, easily enough for four people! My sister and I shared it, and we were both impressed by the generous serving and flavor. One nice touch is the free bone broth on the side. It's perfect if you're feeling under the weather or just prefer something warm to drink instead of cold water. You can have as much as you'd like, which is such a thoughtful addition. The sides were also fantastic--the kimchi was fresh, and they even had sides I'd never tried before.Overall, I highly recommend Yoo's Place. The ambiance is really nice, even the light covers have art and language on it. Food was fresh and yummy (see ratings in the photos). No photo of the shrimp Korean pancake but that is definitely a must get! Loved the rice cakes, but not a fan of the way the fish cakes are cut all thin and put on top. Ari T. "I'm not one to throw around 5-star ratings lightly, but this place deserves it. Here's why:First off, Korean food--specifically tofu soups--always hits the spot. But let's be honest: I'm usually driving out of my way to get it, and during the workday, the commute eats into my lunch time. BCD Tofu House is always packed, and places like Yigah can be a bit too pricey for an everyday lunch. Enter this spot. For $17 before tip, I asked for mild, and they nailed it--the soup wasn't watered down, just a slight kick, with the seafood adding a nice savory depth to the broth. Now, about the banchan--wow. Normally I'm all about kimchi, radish kimchi, and a bit of fishcake, maybe a bite of the potato salad if I'm feeling adventurous. But here? I ate all five banchan clean! The seaweed salad was thinly sliced and crunchy, the broccoli imitation crab salad was a fun new addition, and the kimchi was perfectly tart and crunchy. There was also a tofu kimchi with some dry pickled fish that was salty and savory, pairing perfectly with my rice and soup. But the real highlight was an apple/radish cream salad--seriously, it reminded me of those Mexican fruit salads with walnuts. It was refreshing and sweet, the perfect end to a meal, especially during this freak heatwave!Price point - Portion - Flavor - Ambiance. As soon as you walk in, it wasn't packed so I found a seat immediately which was nice. The space has a beautiful mural of a Korean village behind the counter, and the open seating made for a relaxed vibe. The hostess was super kind and helpful, and I couldn't help but smile when I realized The Cranberries were playing in the background. Throughout my meal, I was serenaded by 90's nostalgia--Cher, Sixpence None the Richer, and even some Latin tunes. It felt like a musical time machine! Plus, the place was impeccably clean, which always scores major points in my book.Ambiance - Customer Service:I didn't catch the name of the hostess/server, but she was a gem--friendly, checked in regularly, and overall made the experience so pleasant. There's a button on the table for when you need something, but seriously, people: use it responsibly. Treat your servers well, tip generously, and act like you're in a civilized society.Customer Service - Overall, I had a pleasant experience. This place was acquired or under new management as of a year ago and they changed the name, They no longer serve sushi and have leaned into offering more Korean dishes, which I think is a smart move. It's tucked behind a bank next to Starbucks, so it's easy to miss, but trust me, it's worth seeking out. Plenty of parking and easy access make it a convenient spot for anyone craving authentic Korean food.Highly recommend, and I'll definitely be back!"

Its flavors were sweet and savory. While the price was reasonable, it wasn't enough for a meal.Overall I enjoyed the burgers here, though I wish they offered a triple or quadruple version as a double burger isn't enough to fill one up. Also, their service is of a typical Korean joint. Meaning, they try their best with the cultural and speech barrier. IMO, I think do a pretty decent job. I'm not a huge fan of Korean food in OC. And does it deliver!!Paik's is known for its Jajangmyeon (fermented black bean noodle stir-fry) and Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). Their noodles in all of their dishes are perfectly chewy, and satisfying for hearty noodle lovers. If you're new to these dishes, the noodles are like a mix between an udon and ramen noodle, typically using thick, wheat flour. The Jajangmyeon hits that spot when you want a comforting meal with an umami punch. This dish has a perfect balance of sweet and savory (more on the savory side), with flavors oozing from caramelized onions, the salty, smoky, and decadent fermented black bean, and a generous portion of elongated ground pork adding a nice meaty touch. For meat lovers, you can order this with extra meat, and for vegetarians, they offer the dish without meat at all. They even have a seafood version of this dish! The Jjampong uses the same noodles, swimming in a spicy broth infused with seafood umami. With muscles and chunks of tender squid and the occasional baby shrimp, the soup is so rich in flavor and satisfying. While there are other strong dishes here, the noodles are the star. And each dish is accompanied by Korean pickled radishes to provide fresh, crisp respite between indulgent bites.Sitting within the food court, there is no traditional service, but the staff are friendly and very quick - even during peak hours. It's easy enough to find seating, but during busy times, it's best to secure seating earlier if you can unless you plan to take the food to go.If you're looking for comforting, filling, and delightful noodles to switch up your Asian noodle-ventures between ramens, phos, pad thai, and more, you should explore the menu at Paik's. Food has always been served within 10-15mins of being seated and I have never had any complaints on the service or food.We ordered the Yedang bossam. Other bossam places I go to don't include raw oysters, so the raw oysters are always a great addition to the wrap. The meat is moist and chewy. My favorite is the dried spicy radish and the raw baby shrimp sauce which really adds to the texture and depth of flavors. We also ordered the Al jjigae(spicy fish roe soup). I honestly have always came back here for this very soup. The roe is so chewy and flavorful. The spice level is very warming and masks any fishiness. We also ordered and togo-ed Kong biji jjigae and it was yummy. It's a personal favorite of mine and I find that this place makes it decently well. The meat portions are generous and the soup texture has a lot of crushed up beans than a silky smooth texture. While the price of the foods does add up, the portions are generous and the meals are delicious. It's worth it especially if you're craving traditional korean food. Ambiance-wise it's always busy and there's lots of families, groups of older individuals. While on the outside, it doesn't appear like super traditional sit down Korean restaurant, it clearly attracts the individuals who are seeking such ambiance and traditional meals. For some clarity, every-time I've been gone to this restaurant, I usually have gone during off-peak lunch hours and have not had the issue with wait times unlike many of the negative reviews. Secondly, I am Korean and am somewhat fluent which can affect differences in service as noted in other negative reviews.
