Butaton Japanese Ramen - Garden Grove

I enjoy Butaton not only for its high quality Japanese ramen but also for the cozy ambiance. This spot offers in a variety of options, from classic Miso Ramen to Tsukemen--perfect for those who enjoy a richer, more concentrated broth with dipping noodles.Plus, if you are looking for a tasty ramen with fast service and little wait time, this is the spot for you. We're all about bold flavors and a little heat, so we went for: Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (9/10)- A creamy, pork-based broth with just the right level of spice, topped with tender pork belly and a perfectly soft-boiled egg. Spicy Tsukemen (10/10) - Thick, chewy noodles paired with a rich and flavorful dipping broth that packs a punch.

Midweek cravings led us to search for something soupy, but we also wanted to try something new. We decided on ramen and chose this location since it was closer than the Orange one--but maybe that was a mistake.The restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other table occupied, so getting a seat was easy. Quiet and played some 2000s beat making us feel old haha. However, the staff lacked attentiveness, and I found myself repeatedly going to the counter for service which I didn't mind at first but after 3 times, you should have known to check on your customers?We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, Pork Belly Rice Bowl, Baby Fried Octopus, and Takoyaki. Unfortunately, everything was mediocre at best. The ramen's broth was overly creamy yet bland, and the Pork Belly Rice Bowl was disappointingly plain--decent presentation but not worth the price. The Fried Octopus looked nothing like the menu photo.Overall, it was an underwhelming experience. Maybe we caught them on an off night since it was a Tuesday, but I don't see myself coming back.

You can never go wrong with ramen after a long day at the beach. The restaurant is clean and open. Seating was spacious and service attentive. Tonkotsu Ramen (4/5) - added cornSpicy Miso Ramen (4/5)Honestly, nothing really note worthy. The meal was solid and affordable considering how expensive ramen can be these days.

Came to butaton for the first time in a long time on a Friday night around 7:30pm. Keep in mind that butaton is in the same Plaza as Oc and Lau so the parking can get pretty atrocious at night. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen (started eating before I took a photo ) and takoyaki. Food is solid and they always have nostalgic studio ghibli movies playing, but I don't know if it'd be worth fighting the parking to come here at night.

I haven't tried a new ramen place in forever but saw this on Yelp and was curious.I got the Spicy Miso Ramen and my boyfriend got the Butaton Ramen. I wish we got to choose our spice level because mine could've used some. Broth was very rich and filling, but lacking some flavor. The chashu was thick and fatty; delicious! I would probably choose my boyfriend's ramen next time due to the spice and flavor of the spicy tonkatsu. On a hot day eating this, it didn't help that there was basically no ac in the building. We were sweatinggg!

First time trying this spot. It was empty on a Monday evening but plenty of take out orders were coming out of the kitchen. Our order was taken very quickly and our ramen was out within 10 mins. I had the tonkotsu ramen and the broth was delicious. The pork belly was more on the salty side and looked like it was cooked with a blowtorch, not a fan. But everything else was perfect.

Loved the seasoned egg! Takoyaki was crispy and fresh! They do not skimp on the meat portions as well. Staff was attentive and nice. Good amount of seating for dinner.

Had no wait on a Saturday evening so we were able to order fast. We got the butaton ramen with less spice. The broth was flavorful but it was a little more peppery than I'd prefer. The noodles were cooked well, I appreciate the whole egg, and they were generous with the toppings.

Sometimes when you need a little break from all the pho around the area, there's ramen. Both the Butaton (spicy tonkotsu) and the tonkotsu broth are good, but I wish there was more depth to make it elite. However combing them with the savory pork and perfectly chewy noodles makes for a pretty good bowl of ramen overall. The price was good and service is courteous, so it's not a place to be overlooked.
