This lovely steakhouse is located inside the beautiful Waldorf Astoria. Was warmly greeted at valet and at the check in desk of the restaurant. We had an inside table but close by the door so that we could see outside and the sun setting. Our waitress was Nicole, she made our first experience here amazing, thank you! We ordered the cocktail shrimp and oysters, Delmonico rib eye steak and chili crunch broccolini (forgot a picture of the side and steak cause I was so excited to eat lol) while waiting for our food we got a trio of friends and the brioche bread. Both were sooo good! The bread was warm and soft and I loved how it was so buttery! The fries were also so good. It was fried in duck fat, so it was crispy, hot and all the dips it came with complemented the fries well. The seafood we ordered tasted so fresh and was good as well. The oysters were sweet and I like that the size wasn't too big as I enjoy the small ones better. The shrimp were big, sweet and I like how it was garnished for us. The steak came out hot and cooked to the right temperature of medium rare. It had a nice crust and was seasoned well and we enjoyed that with some truffle butter. The broccolini was good well but had a nice crunch and nice flavor and they give you a good amount of it which I liked. And last but not least we got the wild berry soufflé which I have never had but so glad I got to try it the other night. It was warm, soft, light and you could taste the berries. The ice cream was a nice touch and brought the dessert together. This place is a definite must go in OC! Thank you again to Nicole and the team here at Bourbon for making our first visit and anniversary dinner so amazing and wonderful! Also a thank you for the complimentary zero proof sparking wine we got, it was so kind of Nicole! We can't wait for our next visit!

A Tale of Two Visits...I had high hopes when I returned to this restaurant after an incredible first visit. The first time was nothing short of amazing, the service was impeccable, the food was flawless, and the attention to detail made it worth every penny. I left impressed and eager to return.Unfortunately, my second visit was a completely different experience. Right from the start, things felt off. One of the restaurant's signature touches which is a complimentary serving of fries for every table and was noticeably absent from mine. I watched as every other table around us received theirs, which made the oversight even more frustrating. Then came the biggest disappointment: my $100 steak. The presentation was beautiful, but the steak was cold, as if it had been sitting out too long before being served. To top it all off the salt shaker I was given happened to be broken and once I used it on my steak it came pouring out all over it. At this point I didn't want to keep asking for the steak to be sent out. For the price, I expected perfection or at least something close to it. The dessert however I will mention was amazing and was ended up given to me for free because of all the inconveniences which I appreciated. While the staff was very polite, the overall experience lacked the magic of my first visit. The inconsistency left me questioning whether this restaurant is worth the premium price tag. For the money, there are better options out there. Unfortunately, after this lackluster visit, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.Cheers,

We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach for a few days and booked a reservation at Bourbon Steak. The service at this restaurant is unmatched. They have many servers and staff members on the floor constantly caring for guests and giving them undivided attention. We were extremely fortunate to run into Jaci, their sommelier during our stay. She picked out a beautiful wine that complimented both of our meals and made the process so fun and easy. She has such a warm personally I would highly recommend consulting with her for all of your wine needs while dining here. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has hand selected many items on their wine list. For our meals we ordered the 8oz filet, ribeye cap, brussel sprouts, and potato puree. My fiancé had the ribeye cap and said it was the most delicious item he's ever had at a steakhouse. We received a complimentary taste of soup, fries with different seasonings and paired dipping sauces, truffle butter injected dinner rolls, and a few little treats after dinner. Everything was spectacular. We finished with their cheesecake that was caramelized and similar to a creme brûlée. Unbelievable meal! We are already planning our next trip to Bourbon Steak. This experience was well worth the cost to dine at this beautifully curated restaurant

Came here for my wife's birthday and boy was it an experience. I recommend making a reservation and requesting the patio. When arriving you have to valet your car as there's no other parking, but you can get it validated at the restaurant and with validation it'll be $10.It was pretty chilly even though we wanted to catch the sunset, luckily they have heaters per person outside and they also brought my wife a blanket. The service here was amazing tbh. The price of food is comparable to mastros, but the service here is a lot better. They're pretty attentive and have 2 people per table checking on you. For food, we got 3 complimentary apps.1. potato puree 3/52. French fry sampler 5/5 there was 3 types of seasonings on the fries and then 3 types of dips. My wifes favorite was the truffle dip and mine was simply just the ketchup as the fries themselves had their own seasonings LOL3. truffle butter infused bread 7/5 holyhell...bread was amazing. When you bite in truffle butter will come out. Sooo freaking rich but delicious.Ordered:Wagyu trio, i believe it was a striploin, rib cap, a5 roughly $300. The rib cap was the best not too fatty but fatty enough. the A5, was way too fatty. I believe it's just how it's cut, it's a lot thicker than going to a Japanese bbq serving A5.Ribeye Cap special with applewood smoke roughly $125? (receipt to be posted) pretty much same as from the trio but more pieces as the trio is 4oz of each vs this was i believe 8 oz.Appstruffle mac n cheese 5/5 - pasta cooked al dente, but not too hard and great flavor of the truffle mac n cheesebroccolini 3/5 sounded great but the chili peppers on it were honestly tough, didn't really contribute much as it wasn't too spicy eitherWagyu fried rice 4/5 - wife's other favorite.DessertSouffle de jour - 5/5 it was a lychee flavor, but not too overpowering. Just enough to taste it and it was paired beautifully with vanilla bean ice cream.Overall, 5/5 experience coming here. You definitely get what you pay for vs some other places you're paying a few hundred dollars and not getting full with bad service. This restaurant lives up to the price tag with the good food, great ambiance, and fantastic service. Definitely great for special occasions.

Bourbon Steak the premier chain steakhouse in my opinion. My wife and I have come to this location twice and have, on both occasions, been floored with the food, drinks, and service.Starting with ambience, the Dana Point location of Bourbon Steak is an adorned with elegant modern touches. Upon entering, guests are greeted with a variety of floor to ceiling glass enclosures containing expensive alcohol. Past that is a magnificent looking bar that leads into the main dining room. The exterior of the restaurant is comprised of an oversized patio that houses a bunch of two top tables, all of which overlook the hotels, elegant courtyard, and ocean. Needless to say, Bourbon Steak is a great place to entertain family, dates, or business partners alike. Moving to service, Bourbon Steak has stellar attention to detail. On both occasions that my wife and I have dined here, we have walked away commenting that we believe their service was amongst the best of steakhouses we have been to. In addition to great service Bourbon Steak treats its guests to a variety of freebies throughout the meal. On our most recent visit, this included delicious french fries and a serving of truffle bread.Drinks are fantastic at Bourbon Steak, as the namewould imply. On the second visit, my wife and I partook in the bourbon trolley, which included a fantastic presentation of old-fashioned making. To boot, the old fashions were delicious. In addition, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the wines that were recommended to us and both of which paired nicely with our steaks. The food at Bourbon Steak is what separates it from other expensive steakhouses. Unlike Matros, STK, Flemings, or any other chain steakhouse that goes for the ultra-traditional steakhouse experience, Bourbon Steak strays toward modern. Instead of offering traditional sides, Bourbon Steak prides itself on uniqueness, offering sides such as fried rice and accompaniments such as truffle butter (and other modern toppings) as opposed to solely the classics. Now this is not to say the classics are present, which I believe makes Bourbon Steak more approachable, however, I think it does a remarkable job of straddling new school and old school. I made it this far in my review without speaking to the actual quality of the food, but it is unequivocally supply. The steaks are perfectly seasoned and cooked, the sides are delicious and full of taste, and even the freebies are truly delectable. On this occasion, my wife and I enjoyed a soufflé at the end, which did not feel like an afterthought, but rather an element of the meal and delicious dish in its own accord.Moving to price, Bourbon Steak is undoubtedly expensive (even by nice steakhouse standards). It would be difficult to get a full experience for under $200 a person. All considered, Bourbon Steak is a treat through and through. Despite being a chain, Bourbon Steak has all of the uniqueness and gusto to feel like a destination unto itself. If you can look past the expensive pricing, you will have a thoroughly enjoyable experience that you will remember for years to come. Ambiance: 5/5Service: 5/5Drinks: 5/5Food: 5/5Value: 3.5/5Consistency: 4.5/5

INSANELY DELICIOUS!!!! The perfect meal to celebrate my anniversary with my husband (AND his birthday)! An unforgettable meal We ordered a 20oz prime bone-in dry-aged ribeye with the trio of sauces (red wine, steak sauce, bernaise), broccolini with chili oil and lemon, and truffle macaroni and cheese. We also got so much bonus food! We ended up enjoying tomato bisque, truffle bread, a trio of fries, small chocolates to take home, and a mini birthday cone with a candle (for my husbands birthday). We love getting surprise food! The food we ordered was amazing but the additional food was DIVINE! The tomato bisque was smooth and thick with a nice pop of acidity. The fries were great! I believe the three flavors we had were pastrami, garlic/herb?, and dill pickle flavored fries. The fries were fried in duck fat and served with accompanying sauces that I cannot quite remember the flavors but were oh so yummy. But wait... the bread. THE BREAD!!!! Truly the most unforgettable bite of food from our meal. THE TRUE STAR! The garlic brioche bread stuffed with truffle butter honestly changed my life haha yes, it's a bit heavy as it's doused in delicious butter. BUT the bread is so crusty, with a fluffy interior, and a delicious center (truffle butter). Probably the best bread I've ever had. I mean this in the best possible way, but it felt like eating a savory donut. And the flaky salt on top was the perfect addition! A truly perfect bread. I'd come back just to have the bread alone. The steak was delicious! Cooked and seasoned to perfection! Beautiful meaty flavor and so tender. Great fat marbling throughout. An amazing steak! Sauces were great too but my favorite sauce was the steak sauce.Truffle mac and cheese was good! Loved the breadcrumb on top and the dish had a lovely flavor. I personally would've loved a touch more salt and would've preferred if the noodles were a bit more al dente but still tasty! The broccolini was good too but nothing to write home about. Service was amazing! We were sat by the window so we had the most beautiful view.Truly an amazing meal! One that I will look back on fondly. I'd love to return in the future!

Truly the most epic dining experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Was trying to find a place worthy enough for our 25th anniversary and took a chance on here. I could not have picked a better place. The best food (and most expensive) I have ever had. The atmosphere, views, service, food, and drink were truly on another level compared to any restaurant I've dined at.The restaurant is in the Waldorf Astoria. Valet is validated and will cost you $10 + tip which is not bad given the location. You walk in the door and you have a truly breathtaking view. Go past the hotel check-in and the restaurant is to the left. I was expected to be seated at some crappy 2 seater table but instead we were given the best table in the house with a panoramic view of the resort and pacific ocean. Along with our menus we were given two glasses of champagne for our anniversary. After placing our orders we were brought out a complimentary red pepper gazpacho served in a tiny coffee or tea cup. This tiny soup packed so much flavor I knew instantly we were going to have a great experience. Next we were brought out a complimentary trio of duck fat fries. Three difference seasonings with three dips. One was furikake, another was truffle, and the 3rd I wasn't sure. All three were super crispy and a flavor explosion. Manners will be thrown out because you'll be double dipping for all you're worth. For the last complimentary item they brought out their brioche roll injected with truffle butter. It had the texture of a yeast donut. It was effing mind blowing. No truffle oil here, you got black specks of truffle oozing out of this masterpiece. Again, you'll abandon your manners as you suck the butter off your fingers.Next we had their "Instant Bacon" which was braised pork belly, brussels sprouts hash, tempura oyster, and bourbon-soy glaze. It was covered when it arrived and when they lifted the lid a wonderful wood smoke aroma wafted around us. Every bite was moan inducing and we both loved it.My wife ordered the filet mignon topped with blue cheese. It was a la carte so we ordered some sautéed mushrooms and their fingerling potatoes to share. The steak was cooked to perfection and she really enjoyed it. She said next time she would get the truffle butter as a topper instead. I was going to order the same thing until they read off the specials of the night. I got the smoked wagyu ribeye cap which came with smoked shitake mushrooms and purple mashed potatoes. Then he said the price...... I hesitated but then said inside my head "YOLO.... eff it". They brought out a glass dome filled with smoke. They removed the dome and my meal was unveiled in a taste bud watering smoky aroma. Every single bite was literally the best tasting steak I have ever had. And the smoke wasn't for gimmick, it was totally infused into the food. Every few seconds I kept saying "oh my god, this is soo good... how is this so good?" To keep with the YOLO theme we also added Hokkaido scallops to our entrees which were astronomically priced but also out of this world delicious. The only negative of the night was the fingerling potatoes covered in cheddar cheese and bacon. They did not live up to the standards of the other dishes. Tiny minuscule amount of bacon bit style bacon and some runny flavorless cheese. Neither of us cared for it. The mushrooms though were perfect. Both huge portions and honestly one side was enough for two people. We brought half of it home. They have a lot of entrees served tableside too such as a whole chicken and whole lobster pot pie. They also had some tableside cocktails. Several seafood options too.For drinks I had their "new world" Manhattan rye whiskey, cognac, carpano antica, cynar amaro, and chocolate bitters. Like a broken record I kept declaring "this is so good". By the end of the meal I had to try their old school New York sour using Metallica's Blackened Whiskey. The cocktails are expensive but I was so sh*t faced after my two drinks we sat around the hotel after and looked at the view for an hour. Donna had the "Bees Knees" and some odd yet delicious drink made with carrot juice.By now we felt like we were going to die but I saw pictures on yelp of their Basque cheesecake. This golden brown baked cheesecake with a brulee crust was in a league of its own. They also brought us out a free chocolate mouse like dessert that was the richest thing ever.Speaking of rich... man, that was some bill BUT it was worth every penny to give us the absolute perfect 25th anniversary. We will definitely be back. The portions are large and they have plenty of sharable items so you can eat here without going as crazy as we did.

We have dined at the Los Angeles location numerous times, and this was our first time at this location. This was obviously a different restaurant before Bourbon Steak came in, and this has no steakhouse feel. Still, it's comfortable and open. We stayed at the hotel on a Sunday to Tuesday stay, and planned to visit Bourbon Steak on Monday. Fortunately, we noticed they are closed Monday and Tuesday. So strange, and points off, but whatever. That did mean, however, they ran out of a number of dishes on the Sunday evening that we dined. That wasn't great, as they couldn't deliver on my wife's first two choices. What we did have was really delicious. The Corn Soup was so good, as was the Hamachi Crudo Special. Service was overall very good, yet it wasn't particularly refined considering expectations from previous visits to the LA store. Hostess missed our request on reservation, but corrected it. Service assitants and food runners were very nice, but spilled water while pouring and didn't bother to wipe it up, knocked my knife off of the table and onto the seat only to pick it up and place it on the table again, and set wrong plates in front of us at each course. These are things I would expect in a diner, but not for this caliber restaurant. We would definitely return, but my expectations will be much lower if that happens.
