There are places you go because they transport you. Not physically--this isn't a ticket to Paris--but in spirit, in the unspoken language of a well-executed omelet and a quaint patio buzzing with life. Bonjour Café has always been that kind of place. A staple. A weekend refuge. And frankly, if you're sitting inside, you're doing it wrong. The patio is where it's at.This time, we were greeted by a woman who might as well be the mayor of the place. Older, charming, and with the kind of lively banter that makes you want to linger. We sat close enough to eavesdrop, soaking in her effortless way of making strangers feel like regulars. A true asset to any restaurant, the kind of person who reminds you that hospitality is an art form. They were out of smoked salmon. A tragedy? Maybe. But you pivot. You adjust. My wife went with an omelet--silky, folded over salty, whisper-thin prosciutto. I went for the Croque Monsieur, because how could you not? A good one is crisp at the edges, lush in the center, cheese melting into ham, into béchamel, into nostalgia. We started, of course, with Bloody Marys--decidedly un-French but, let's be honest, a necessary indulgence for any respectable weekend. The food? Above average. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly satisfying. The service? Unparalleled. Not one, not two, but five different people ensuring every need was met, every glass filled, every plate cleared with seamless precision. Service like that turns a four-star experience into five.Would I come back? Of course. Some places just get under your skin.

Was very pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant as we were passing through Dana Point. It has a nice family-owned, local feel, the food is good, prices are reasonable and the location is very convenient if you're either driving (plenty of street parking), or traveling on the tram. We decided to take the free tram so it was only a 5 minutes walk from the nearby tram stop. We were celebrating a special occasion over lunch and it was the perfect place to do this. The staff, from the hostess to the manager, are very nice, treat you like a regular, and both outdoor and indoor seating was comfortable. We decided to sit outside in the afternoon, it never got too hot or sunny with the outdoor shades. We ordered the eggplant and ham sandwiches, which were delicious and filling, included salad, and finished with an awesome Nutella crepe. Great overall place for breakfast, brunch or lunch.

The food is scrumptious and I love how it now reflects a true French bistro with the beautiful floral table cloths, glassware, etc. Great service and so happy the new owners have continued to keep the amazing menu. Highly recommended!

Wow! Im so thankful we stopped in. The food was delicious. It was such a cute French cafe with great tasting dishes and the most friendly staff. I loved the details in the table setup as well. I checked in and used my 5% off coupon that the restaurant offered me on the whole meal. We will be back!

I went to Bonjour Cafe for lunch yesterday for the first and last time since it changed ownership. My friend and I were both looking forward to a nice lunch at Bonjour and upon my first bite of my i had a long hair in my mouth. When I advised the Owner he said "it must be your hair, we don't have any blondes working here". My friend and I were shocked at his response and my friend told me she got a good look at the hair and it was brown and definitely not mine. She also could not believe his response. If I had known Bonjour Cafe was no longer French owned I may not have gone there as I've also since heard the food quality had diminished and with such terrible customer service I say Au Revoir to Bonjour!!!

Quaint place. My cafe au lait was delicious and served in a bowl, just as it should be. They have the perfect French dressing with their side salad as well. Service was great. We both got sandwiches so can't rave about the breakfast but the sandwiches were pretty good. Not too fond of the ambiance, it's a little dim inside.

Still a favorite and worth the trip from San Diego. This place makes Dana Point a special stop for us as we head to Laguna. Keep it up.

Came here for my birthday brunch and the entire experience was fantastic. We got an outside table and the many servers attention, the most scrumptious foods along with a song by Yolanda (hope i got that correctly) completed a special morning. Thanks to everyone! The outside is very doggy friendly.

The food & service is top notch. They even made us something off the lunch menu even though it was 8am. The new owner is super accommodating & even came over to talk with us. Very nice to have him come & let us know he will always cook the lunch menu item for us. The food is always consistently delicious. I highly recommend the crepes & the quiche.
