Food:The bagels were amazing. Every bite tasted savory, flavorful, and fresh. The Lox was not fishy at all, but I recommend eating it within the first 30 minutes or so otherwise it can start to taste a bit off. The MF was amazing as well. The sausage, egg, and bagel were fluffy and juicy with each bite. Drinks:The matcha latte with lavender was great. There was a good blend of matcha and lavender and neither tasted overbearing. The OJ had a strong and fresh orange taste. It tasted like oranges were freshly squeezed! Experience:The inside and outside is relatively small with a decent amount of tables. On crowded days, it'll be hard to find a spot. The service was also very quick and everyone was so kind. Verdict:Overall, I would say I definitely enjoy Boil & Bake and excited to try new items next time! Highly recommend for breakfast/brunch!

*1/5 stars - Disappointing Experience at Boil and Bake*I'm extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Boil & Bake. I had high expectations, but unfortunately, their bagel fell short. The Lox bagel I ordered was incredibly hard and rough to eat. It was like chewing on a rock! My jaw actually hurt after trying to bite into it. I was expecting a soft, chewy bagel, but what I got was a dense, unpleasantly textured disaster! For a place that specializes in bagels, I expected more. The quality of their products is subpar, and it ruined my entire experience.Unless they revamp their recipe and improve their bagel quality, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.*Pros:* None*Cons:* Hard, rough bagel texture, poor quality, disappointing experience

I've been wanting to try Boil & Bake for a while, but the line out the door always made me wonder if it's really worth the hype? I finally went during an off-peak time, and wow...it absolutely is! The Bob & Larry sandwich was incredible - literally an explosion of flavors that you wouldn't think to pair, yet they work perfectly together. The bagels are soft and just right. The overall vibe including the music was great. Service was quick and smooth during off-hours, so while I'd avoid peak times, I'll definitely be back!

Boil & Bake has the bagel game on lock! They are known for their premium quality bagel sandwiches that leave you wanting more. This spot is located in a plaza with a good amount of parking spots. Inside, they have a nice casual setup with all of their seating being in their patio area. For their menu, they have coffee/drinks and their delectable bagel sandwiches. I opted to try The OG which consisted of an everything bagel bun, scrambled eggs, longanisa sausage, American cheese, and a side of cilantro aji cream. Overall, I was very satisfied with my sandwich and it was a filling lunch. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. I will be back forsure to try some of their other bagel sandwich creations!

TL;DR - if i'm craving a bagel sandwich, i'm definitely coming back here. believe the hype!FOOD/DRINK:*the mf - classic bagel sandwich and definitely hits the spot 5/5*the early bird - more of a sandwich with turkey breast, tomato, and argula. super refreshing and yummy! 5/5*the lox - im personally not a big lox person but for what it is, i would say its pretty good. my partner really liked it! 5/5*horchata cold brew - this one surprised me! i wasn't expecting it to be so good. coffee and sweetness was perfectly balanced. 5/5*choco chip cookie - this one is for the people that like that thin chewy type cookie. im more of a paderia-type cookie person so it wasn't my favorite. 3/5SERVICE: cashier was friendly and efficient. no complaints! COST: this is the only downfall in my opinion since some of these bagels were around $15-16 which is pretty pricey for a bagel sandwich. in total for everything, it was around $70z i'll say that the portion-size was big- one sandwich will definitely fill you up. 3.5/5NOTES:*the lines tend to be pretty long but move fairly quickly! expect a 20-30 minute. the food comes out pretty quickly after ordering.*there's a mix of outside and indoor seating but since it's busy, you might have to wait a bit for a seat.

Seriously cannot believe how delicious this place is. Located in a random plaza in Costa Mesa and lots of parking available. The inside is pretty small but I noticed they have an outdoor seating area. There were so many options in the menu and slightly pricey. I will say it is so worth it and I'd come back to show my friends how yummy the bagels are. Service was nice and friendly. We ordered the East Village and New Yorker. My husband didn't enjoy his New Yorker as much but it was nice that it came with a side sauce. We both agreed that my salmon one was unbelievably good. 12/10 would recommend

This bagel spot is worth the hype and honestly a game changer when it comes to bagel sandwiches! I tried the East Village and the M.F., and both were packed with unique and bold flavors that truly set them apart from any regular bagel sandwich I've had within OC! I got the East Village on a everything bagel, which was a perfect balance of unique ingredients (if you don't like dill, I would recommend the other lox style bagels here, but I enjoyed it)! I got the M.F. on a jalapeño cheese bagel which had egg, cheese, and sausage and the chipotle sauce definitely had a peppery kick. These definitely aren't your average bagel sandwiches, because each are crafted and tasted very gourmet!

If you're in Costa Mesa, you gotta check out Boil and Bake. I used to drive by this spot next to McDonald's and Chipotle without a second glance, but now it's my go-to for artisan craft bagels--seriously, the closest thing to New York bagels outside of Manhattan.I had the MF: their homemade fennel sausage with crispy edges, layered with new American cheese, and paired with an aïoli that's spicy, sweet, and smoky all at once. Every bite was a flavor bomb, and it's clear the servers and kitchen crew are killing it.The vibe inside is super chill and inviting, even if the exterior is a bit dated (blame the landlord, not the team). Don't let that throw you off--once you step in, you're hit with a cool, cozy energy.Bottom line: if you're looking for bomb bagels with a fresh twist, Boil and Bake is definitely worth a stop. I'll be back for more, for sure!

1/3/2025EAST VILLAGE on a toasted Everything Bagel(Scallion Chive Cream Cheese, House-Cured Lox, Pickled Green Tomato, Red Onion, Capers, Dill, Lemon)- LOVED that the Everything Bagel was loaded with the seasoning front and back, corner to corner!- Flavors were good! The creamy scallion chive cream cheese, the vinegary and tangy pickled green tomatoes, salty capers, fresh red onion and dill! - DIDN'T LOVE that the smoked salmon was cut thick, which made it tougher to chew and quite slimy in texture. As I continued to eat, it had a fishy smell, which was off-putting. I could have done without.- Bagel was a bit tough to chew. - Overall, I enjoyed the bagel sandwich and all its components, but I will skip the fishy salmon next time.- No lines as I came in early in the afternoon around 1:30pm. - Good, friendly customer service.- No long wait time for order.- Indoor & Outdoor Seats Available** Lowered the Yelp rating due to slightly fishy smell on the smoked salmon and the thicker cut. Not a pleasant experience. Took out the fishy smelling salmon and ate the rest of the bagel. Thankfully no food poisoning!

I'm sorry, but this place is TOO good. I had to file an insurance claim because the East Village triggered a realized loss of interest in any other bagel shop. Plus now I have to find a new job so I can work closer to Boil & Bake. I always take pictures of my food but this bagel looked/smelled so tantalizing that I reasoned, "one first bite won't hurt before snapping a pic." Well I blacked out and when I came to, the bagel was nowhere to be found; just a pile of everything seasoning littering my lap and an irrefutable sense of euphoria.
