Love Blackies. Always a must when in Newport Beach. Service is always quick and friendly. They have expanded their area. Their bathrooms used to be tiny but is now in a different location and is bigger. Definitely a dive, but is clean. I haven't tried the food except for their picked eggs - which I was told was an east coast recipe. Best pickled eggs I've ever had!I always miss Patrick when I visit. He was such a sweet guy

This place wouldn't be what it is without Dee. The coldest beer in town with the best ambiance.

Classic dive bar across the parking lot from the beach in Newport. I normally order a special sandwich, pickled egg and a draft beer. The draft beer is always good, they pour a lot of drafts so it is always fresh and ice cold.Bar service so order at the bar and either sit / stand there (it's often very crowded so barstools can be hard to come by. Or sit at a booth if there's one available.

Do you want to experience a legendary, dive bar, right on the beach? This is one of the most iconic places in the OC. Right across the parking lot from the Newport Pier is Blackies. Everyone knows about Blackies! It was filled with drunk people on a Sunday afternoon! We got a seat at the bar when three very inebriated old men got up to stagger out!The service was excellent the beer was cold. It was so loud inside we couldn't hear each other speak!I was very happy to get up and leave after our beer! I don't expect that I will ever go back, but that is Blackies unique lack of charm!

We were walking around the beach and stopped in for drinks. A really cool bar, the guy at the door told us it's a great place so we came in and found an empty booth. Ordered some margaritas, they were good. The music was good, it was loud because there were so many people. They had 2 pool tables, pictures all over the walls, and they sell shirts. My husband bought us some shirts. I'd come back here for sure!

Blackies is a Newport boardwalk staple dive bar for I think 40 years now have to stop in or it's not like a trip to Newport lol. No food in this dive bar. Just lots of good people and good times they were having an issue when we arrived, no bartenders available, so we waited quite some time, but soon we were settled with our cocktails and enjoying our seats at the bar to people watch and chat about. I even ended up with my own Blackies T-shirt. I will always be back.

I came into this fine establishment tonight...I had had such a great time, you're bartenders were amazing... Deitra and Steve were absolutely amazing, thank you for such a memorable night...

I don't live near Blackies any longer but try to visit for a cold beer and beach vibe whenever I can. Great group of beach folk in shorts, flip flops and, of course, Blackies Tee Shirts!

Aggressive doorman beware. Does not make people feel safe. Not easy to talk to and extremely rude.

Place is good for beers and stuff. We went with a massive group spending money on beers and drinks. They thought we were ignorant to the better liquors. Paid $70 for two shots of some fake refilled bottles of Clase Azul. Failed to know I have always bought them bottles by the case. No need to fake liquor, I,d pay you what you want for the two shots but dont try to insult me to think the 2nd grade tequila you refilled it with was clase azul. Shame on you.
