Avila's El Ranchito - Costa Mesa

Thank you Salvador for the beautiful greeting and always making us feel so welcome!Thank you to Ramiro who always makes sure our chips are full and our glasses are filled.Alfonso was a great server and gave us our meal in a timely manner. We always enjoy eating at our favorite neighborhood restaurant.Our meals were as delicious as always.

When the hubby is craving enchiladas we go to a tried and true Mexican restaurant. Dishes are flavorful and it's always a vibe in here.Nothing more comforting than a cup of albondigas and homemade tortilla. Also ordered the Pepe's Special (Asada Encebollada) with chile negro. So good The chamaquita ordered the kids' hamburger meal because she hasn't developed her Latina tongue yet .

This is my friend's favorite Mexican restaurant and we were celebrating the holidays and a birthday. My friend tells me that this chain of restaurants is family owned and all the recipes are proprietary to the family. Enchiladas are my benchmark for Mexican restaurants and what I order to decide on if a place is worth coming back. Hand made tortillas and very fresh tasting green tomatillo sauce were the stand out for this dish. The chicken was moist, but there was a bone in it that I can overlook as the bone was large and I spotted it quickly. Great ambiance and my friend and I sat and talked for hours during their off peak time (2:30-5:00 on a Sunday). They still got a very consistent stream of customers even at these off peak hours. I would absolutely come back and try more items. The waiter was so kind to bring out a birthday sundae for my friend. Small acts like these make a huge impact. Wonderful service. This brand, regardless of location delivers! That said, truly enjoyed trying out the Costa Mesa location. It's beautiful inside and thoroughly enjoyed their outside patio dining.The service was outstanding. Jaine was delightful, as was the bus boy and manager. Had the two item combo and left stuffed. For sure, I'll be back and of course brought their epic salsa home!

Super friendly staff and great service! The restaurant ambiance feels like a visiting family! The food is authentic and delicious and they drinks are on point. Always my "go to for excellent Mexican Food and consistent great service.

What a disappointment. We were at Avila's a few months ago while visiting Southern California. The guacamole was to die for and the shrimp meal was wonderful. So, we wanted to duplicate that experience. The size of guacamole was cut dramatically while the price increased and the shrimp served was not very fresh. I am NOT allergic to seafood, but I left the restaurant feeling itchy. We, unfortunately, have to scratch the place off our list.

Authentic Southern California Mexican food. Fun atmosphere, great service, delicious food! The guava marg is delish as is the blood orange marg! This is my New Mexican go to!

This location is the BEST amongst all the Avila's El Ranchito.We had really good service by Rocky tonight. He was attentive and quick to bring what we need despite being super busy.When I mentioned to him my fajitas had mostly veggies & not much chicken, he quickly went into the kitchen and brought out a side of chicken!!10-star for Rocky and his services.Food always delicious here.Hubby had the carnitas plate and he loved it. All lean meat.

Been coming here for over a decade, and it's always the best way to treat ourselves to an amazing dining experience. Since the moment you enter with a nice warm welcoming, getting seated and having some delicious chips and salsa along with quick service to order our main entree's. Rocky was our server this evening, always so kind and hospitable. Thank you to all of the Avila's staff for making our visits so special. Can't wait to come again.
