Absolutely worth the hour drive!! We stayed at one of the hotels less than a mile away from this location. We came on a Sunday around 11:40 AM. They had recently opened and already had about 5 tables sat (both inside and outside). The music they plan is perfect background music that is comfortable on the ears without drowning out the sound of the pizza being made or too loud for conversation. Our server was Drew and she was amazing! She explained to us the process of the pizza and the influence of East Coast in their food. I got the Lunch Box which comes with a side salad and 11" pizza of ANY KIND or make your own with 3 toppings. My boyfriend got the meatball sandwich with half potatoes and half Caesar salad. When the salad came out, I had thought they made a mistake giving us a full salad but NOPE! THE PORTIONS ARE GENEROUS! I got the vampire pizza with my lunch box and it is just as good as everyone is raving about. The flavors combine so well, it's not overly garlicky and no one flavor is too potent. I was genuinely pleased and satisfied with this pizza. The meatballs in the sandwich were full of flavor and were not over cooked. The cheese was just enough to cover the meatballs without oozing over the sides. The sauce was partially absorbed by the bread but the bread still had integrity with holding up the whole sandwich. It is a softer sandwich, with a light crisp on top. The potatoes were PERFECTLY crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Our recommendation: ask for a side of their ranch and spicy aïoli. First dip into the aioli then into the ranch. Thank me later Unfortunately we were too full for dessert. However, we will be back to try the Banana Crumble. It sounds like an absolute dream!Thank you again to Drew who took great care of us and showed off her extensive knowledge on the menu.

By far the best pizza in Orange County. The pizza is amazing, but what makes this place so great is the hospitality. Marco is an incredible owner and operator. He really knows his stuff. He's all about bringing people together, and you can really tell when you sit down in his restaurant. He makes you feel like family. Highly recommend.

Really yummy NY style pizza spot in South OC. There's an open parking lot and was easily seated during an early Friday night. The arancini is to die for. Lots of different options or pizza sauces. We had the sting ray and ended up adding ricotta to it. Pizza had the perfect amount of crisp and no thick crusts. Service was great. You can order wine by the glass or bottle. Definitely coming back to try more pizzas.

This is amazing pizza. The sourdough crust makes this a perfect pie. This visit we went with the Burrata and the South West Swell. Both came out quickly and both were delicious. The Burrata had giant dollops of yummy cheese and the South West Swell was spicy and sweet. Wow. We also started with the Cesar Salad, which was big enough for two and had great crunch and flavor. Our server Cheyenne was so nice and helpful. Overall great experience. We will be back.

This local pizza joint does everything well: prompt service, lively atmosphere, and of course, amazing pizza. We tried the Hwy 1 (their take on a classic combo pizza) and the Mia mushroom (we added prosciutto for $4, which I highly recommend doing). Both pizzas were absolutely delicious. Before stuffing your face, try the well-balanced harvest salad, complete with crumbled Gorgonzola and chopped dates. After stuffing your face, sample the tiramisu or the banana walnut crumble (or both!).Not much else to say. Pizza is always good, but this pizza is undeniably great.

Yummy pizza spot in the heart of Dana Point! We were starving and the delicious pizzas smelled so inviting when we walked in. Our server was so friendly and easygoing. He was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. We ordered the Stingray pizza and simple salad. The salad tasted fresh and was perfectly dressed with a spicy ranch dressing. The stingray pizza was good -- the highlight was definitely the dough itself. It was the perfect combination of chewiness and crispiness. The toppings were good, but the plentiful onions made the pizza sweeter than we would've liked. Overall, a delicious meal and outstanding service!

After a recent trip to New York, I was intrigued by the idea of littleneck clams on pizza and decided to give this spot a try. This was my first experience with New Haven-style pizza, and while it had its highlights, it didn't quite wow me.The clam pizza came with the option of red or white sauce. We were advised to go for the white sauce if we were fans of white clam chowder--and we did. The pizza was definitely cheesy and garlicky, which made for a bold flavor, but I found the clam taste surprisingly muted. The dough was tough, and while that might be typical for New Haven style, it felt a bit too hard on my palate and even managed to scrape the roof of my mouth. I also missed the sauciness I usually enjoy in a pizza. That said, the service was super friendly, and the convenience of a parking lot in the back was a nice bonus. Overall, it was a fun experiment, and I'm glad I tried it, but it's not a place I'd revisit.

First we tried Truly Pizza without reservations at 4:30 on a Saturday. No tables at all- sorry. We drove 1 mile down the road to Apizza Doho which has almost the same menu and plenty of space. Seated right away and had a great server. There was plenty of parking behind the restaurant but I imagine it gets full later in the night. We started with a glass of red wine, and lemonades for the kids. The waiter was very nice to let us know that they do not have a kids menu but do prepare a smaller pizza that doesn't have the seasonings and keeps the cheeses simple and they can add any toppings. Perfect! We started with the zucchini chips- my husband thought he wouldn't like it but he LOVES it. It reminded me of the zucchini chips from North Italia which are also great. So light and crunchy, they practically melt in your mouth. We shared a Caesar salad, my husband and I shared the Vampire pizza and my kids each got their own pizza. Everything came out in good time, we were checked on frequently, glasses refilled when needed. The Caesar salad had interesting greens and crunchy breadcrumbs. I could tell the dressing was made in house and also very good. Our vampire pizza was not what I was picturing in my head so I was a little disappointed, but the crust was great and we were fine. The kids loved their pizzas but even the kids sized were really big. We ended up taking a bunch home. All in all a great meal for a reasonable price. We will be back if we are in Dana Point again and looking for pizza.

Truly hidden gem. I'm a charcuterie snob. Have to get it if it's on the menu. This one looked great. It didn't disappoint! Chef's board:First, the "pita" bread is actually just triangles pizza dough, which is amazing. Cheeses: it came with a couple small triangles of medium soft cheese, actually couldn't tell exactly what kind (maybe manchego) but very good. The star was a bowl of burrata and olive oil with some basil. Fresh and amazing. Meats: my two favs.... Prosciutto and pepperoni. The difference is the meats are not only super fresh, but sliced so paper thin that they practically melt in your mouth. A dollop of burrata on the dough with some prosciutto is a heavenly bite! It came with honeycomb, figs, olives, and almonds! I even got to try their marinara which was outstanding. I can't wait to try the pizza next visit... I know it will be phenomenal!!!The service was also top notch. Zero complaints!

Came here around opening on a Sunday late morning/early afternoon and was seated right away. Restaurant was pretty dead and wasn't full when we left yet either. Which is great! Cuz we love a restaurant with no wait Our server asked if it was our first time and told us that their pizza is New Haven (Connecticut) Style Pizza. I was so excited as I've heard about this style of pizza but never had it. The server told us New Haven pizza is popular for thin, crispy crust that is charred. Yum! The server also told us they only serve large pizzas, but could split the pizza into two flavors as long as the base sauce was the same. My husband and I ended up getting a Caesar salad and a split pizza of Hwy 1 (tomato sauce, fennel sausage, pepperoni, garlic, mushrooms, mozzarella, caramelized onions, peppers, pecorino romano) and Stingray (pepperoni, sweet onions, roasted jalapeños, mozzarella, grana padano, citrus honey). The pizza was delicious! Loved the crispy, charred crust. It's best to eat fast so that the crust is extra crispy. The longer the pizza sits it does lose its crunch a bit. I loved both pizzas and they were both different! Hwy 1 was heavier, meatier, and saltier. Stingray was lighter, sweet, and spicy. Both yummy! And I loved the crushed red pepper powder available on the table. The Caesar salad was also tasty! The breadcrumbs gave it wonderful texture. This salad surprised me as it wasn't a creamy dressing like most Caesar salads. It was thinner and more acidic! I enjoyed it.Overall, terrific pizza! If floppy pizza isn't your favorite and a crispy crust is the most important thing for you, Apizza Doho is the way to go!
