Friendly and quick service. You order through an Ipad which is always a plus. The food itself was great especially the sides.

Food was great and and service was amazing. Loved the ambiance and music playing. We got the 40% discount through yelp. Cons: The thin meats can get stuck to the middle of the grill. But luckily the staff changes them quite often and its not a hassle to do so. Pros: We received what we ordered pretty quick. We used the table tablet to place orders when we are ready for more and can pay with that too. Food was yummy and flavorful.

An AYCE Japanese BBQ spot with AYCE sushi too? Color me intrigued, I dragged my husband here last week on a weeknight and we walked in without a reservation. This used to be where the old Islands was in Woodbridge. We were seated right away but they still needed our name and number to input into their system. The system allows you to order via iPad. You can put in your order, send it to the kitchen, and it pops out with the servers. Pretty efficient if you think about it. Our server immediately ordered us water and salad for the table. We were told that they had a grand opening special so for the two of us it was $39.99 each for dinner. Not too shabby so we committed to ordering nigiri and a spicy tuna crunch roll to start. We also ordered the chicken karaage, beef belly, DNA cut top blade, spicy marinated pork loin, assorted vegetables, banchan side dish, ginger & wasabi, and s'mores. The sushi was decent but not top quality. The meats were where we wanted to be. The Top Blade was really tender. The server stopped by to change the grill at one point. We ordered too much but powered through. Actually a few servers stopped by our table through the meal to either check on us or bring us more food. I'm sure they will be busy with patrons in the next few months. This place will be good for groups but don't think for a second that you'll be getting an authentic experience. We thought it was good with the discount. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Reserved a table through Yelp Reservation, showed up on time and received 40% off (lunch time only).Food order was placed through the tablet on the table - love this! Super convenient! Our meat order arrived very promptly, while the sushi & cooked food items arrived around 15 mins later. Our dessert didnt arrive at all. We understand they're super busy, so we didnt want to ask.Food was ok. Sushi quality was below par. The worst item was the yakisoba. I've never seen yakisoba swimming in sauce.Service was ok.Will I be back...? Sorry, probably not.

Tried this place as it was very new. Need to get a reservation cause it gets busy! There's not a lot of places for jbbq in SoCal compared to kbbq. So I was excited to try one with sushi as well. Unfortunately I think there's plenty to improve such as the amount of options. The meat was tender but you don't have a lot of options to choose from to vary flavor from seasonings and sauces. The sushi was very good and that did really well in our group. The curry rice needed more of that curry kick and the sauce was very thin. I'd say my biggest concern was speed at which you receive your orders as well as the ordering system. The staff were extremely nice but I'd say the service wasn't very quick which is very important in AYCE. The tablet also didn't have a proper holder for you to leave on so we were struggling to hold it while we ate. Experience was fine but I think could be better with some tweaks!

Went to 7 Japanese BBQ & Yakitori Bar in Irvine which just opened 2 months ago. There's currently no Yakitori. That's not coming until Mid March is what we were told. So will have to go back and check it out. We made a reservation for lunch so that we could get 40% off. So lunch was $29.99/person. We ordered everything via a tablet. Various cuts of beef, lamb, pork and chicken. There was also shrimp available for the grill. There were also a few appetizers like gyoza and egg rolls available. Both were decent, but not great. They came with a sweet Thai chili sauce for dipping rather than some sort of soy sauce based dipping sauce. Or sweet and sour sauce. That was weird. The dipping sauce over powered both the gyoza and the egg roll. The menu selection not only had Japanese BBQ, but also had a selection of sushi / nigiri as well. Got a couple of orders of the eel nigiri. Which was delicious. The fish to rice ratio was spot on. The side dishes like the marinated cucumbers were good. Had a slight kick to it that I quite enjoyed with my meats. For dessert, you could order S'mores to grill. They were also trying out a few flavors of gelato that wasn't on the tablet, but we were able to ask for from the server. My dining companion and I both got a half of coffee and half chocolate. I thought the coffee was better. But my friend thought the chocolate was better. So we'll call it a draw on that front. We were so stuffed, we didn't even try to order the S'mores. Maybe next time before the 40% with a reservation ends. Over all service was good. Our server checked on us fairly frequently. The ease of ordering via the tablet makes it super convenient. Price was good, but a bit expensive for lunch if we hadn't have gotten the 40% discount. There were not a lot of people at the restaurant when we were there. Don't know if it's because it's so new and not a lot of people know about it yet, or because it's located inside an old Islands restaurant location and is kind of hidden in the back of the lot behind another restaurant. Plus it's on a not so busy street near a not so busy business park. The place was fairly quiet; not a lot of noise. Maybe it's more rowdy for dinner? Or perhaps on the weekends? Good start, room for improvement. Will come back again when they have Yakitori and get the FULL menu experience.

Finally a Japanese AYCE BBQ plus sushi and more!! I can't get over how many different varieties of meats (steak, chicken, seafood, and beef tongue) you can choose from! The appetizers, soup, curry, sushi (nigiri and cut rolls) were endless! Dessert only included marshmallows and s'mores but I'm not mad about it. Drinks are not included in the AYCE price (current $49.99/person). Service was quick!! You order from an iPad at your table and the orders are sent directly to the kitchen. Food comes out fast!! The staff were all so nice and polite. They drop off the food and make rounds to clear empty dishes off the table to make room for more food! The grills do get replaced after good use!Love the (disco) vibe tonight with ABBA playing in the background along with other upbeat tracks! I'm so happy to have tried this new place!! Will definitely be back! Beware of the weekends: you can't just walk in! Reserve your table ahead of time. There's a line out the door at 445pm with people who made reservations! Madness but worth it!

We made a 7:30 reservation through the Yelp app for dinner on a Friday night. When we arrived, there was one party in front of us but we were able to get seated after a couple of minutes. There is a tablet on the table that you order all of your food from. All of the staff is very friendly and they checked on us often. They were also very quick with providing grill changes whenever we needed and they made sure we had a clean grill for the s'mores at the end. The quality of the meat was decent there were a fair amount of options. The food came out quickly after we ordered it. All of the meat was tender and had decent flavor. The sauces that they provided paired well with all of the meats. It was fatty enough to where we had a huge flame on our grill several times. The fish for the sushi was not the most fresh and the tuna had a very grainy texture to it, but the flavor was good. The baked salmon roll had avocado that also got cooked into it which was not my favorite flavor and it also stuck to the foil and completely fell apart when we tried to pick it up. The shrimp crunch roll did not live up to its name. The tempura was spongy and chewy and only a few of the pieces of the cut rolls had shrimp, the rest just had the batter in it. They're offering a winter special until March 9, 2025 where you receive a discount if you make a reservation through the Yelp app.
