Sang Dao Restaurant

My girlfriend is from Thailand and always craves authentic Lao food but is always disappointed. Not this time! Sang Dao came through in a big way.Super authentic spicy papaya salad which we never find anywhere, awesome drunken noodles, great Chinese sausage fried rice, it was all on point.We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Tonight was a really warm summer evening and the husband and I sought out a new Thai restaurant and stumbled upon Sang Dao, thanks to Yelp!!! We have probably driven past this hidden treasure hundreds of times. The outside does not do the restaurant justice at all. The inside was delightfully cool and beautifully decorated. They had a variety of items on display for purchase, I wish I knew more about what all the items were.The service was 5 stars! Several tables were occupied but our water cups were constantly refilled, the two gentlemen who were serving were so friendly and checked on us frequently.My husband ordered the Angel Wings appetizer. These are vegetable, noodle, and meat, stuffed chicken wings wrapped in an egg roll wrapper. They were FANTASTIC! If you visit you must give them a try.I ordered my favorite dish, spicy eggplant with Tofu, and the husband had his staple of Pad Thai (at the highest heat level). The portions are extremely generous and the quality was exquisite. I probably have enough left overs for another entire meal. The flavor was perfect and the heat levels were delicious. They do have a tray of additional pepper sauces, fish sauce, hoisin, and pickled jalapeños on each table which I appreciate! We will 100% be visiting again. Whether you dine in or take out from Sang Dao I think you will be impressed and extremely happy with your experience.

I liked the food. It was pretty standard for me. But the portions were great for the price!

My best Wednesday afternoon decision was ordering Sang Dao Thai for delivery! I ordered the Drunken Noodles (with chicken & hot spice level). Perfect amount of spice for me - enough to open my sinuses, but not difficult to endure. This dish is so savory, has a comforting texture, & a good amount of vegetables without going overboard. It was also nice to try my bf's entrée: stir fry pad pet. We both found the coconut curry to be delectable & he usually dislikes coconut. Enough food to save half for later, but if you're a big eater, you will be quite full. Satiated. Our take-out containers were heavy & FULL. We knew we were getting a good value meal... something hard to come by in San Diego these days. An affordable, hearty meal with flavor is the new "hidden gem" here.

Take a trip to flavor town! This is a local family-owned gem with different cuisines, specifically South East asian dishes.Wish I found this place sooner honestly. Here are the pros:-Friendly staff-Quick service-Lots of great options (check out the pics!)-Always have parkingMy go to is the Pad See Ew or Drunken Noodles, you can adjust your spicy level to desire (1-5) it can get spicy! The soups/curry tend to be on the sweeter side but good nonetheless. Lots of veggies added in every dish.Cheap pricing aside, the portions were huge and each dish is shareable.Would definitely come back!

Drove down from Los Angeles to celebrate my father in laws birthday. Is always a great time here. The food is amazing and the customer service there is A+. The restaurant was not busy because we were the first one. The restaurant was clean and relaxing as well, family atmosphere!

I personally found the pad Thai to be too sweet. But given that it has many good reviews, we will try other dishes another time.

My go to spot for the Laos style papaya salad. if you like a papaya salad with a lot of crap paste, this place will hit the spot. I don't know what to say.

We ordered the yellow curry (personal favorite), drunken noodles, and kapao with ground pork and a fried egg on top. Best Thai and Lao food in San Diego with great prices and portions! The food comes out pretty fast! Definitely recommend especially if looking to support family owned businesses!
