Interior is elegant with nice artworks, but still casual enough for everyone. Service was great all around.$8.50 Cup Seafood Bisque...creamy, tasty, and filled with seafood!$8.50 Cup Seafood gumbo...fragrant, tasty, and filled wit seafood!$26 Taste of New Orleans...a huge generous portion of Crawfish Etouffee! There were a solid 12-15 crawfish tails, all tender and juicy, over rice, and covered in the flavorful sauce, that was a perfect amount of spiciness. $22 Blackened Catfish...perfectly cooked with the sweet, juicy, gamey catfish meat, with a lovely butter Cajun seasoning on top, so good! Jack M. "I enjoyed the Brussels Sprout Salad for lunch from Postino for $15 and an iced tea for a slightly steep $4.50.The salad was wonderful, but a little undersized for $15. The mix of brussels spouts and kale was great. They were both very fresh. The spicy marcona almond and bacon both gave the salad not only great flavor but great texture as well. I enjoyed the manchego cheese and dried cranberries very much in the salad, but what really stood out as whole was the lemon manchego dressing that offered outstanding flavors. The salad is gluten-free.The service was good, but I did not get a refill on my iced tea. I figured at almost $5 for a glass, they would be one."

Leslie B. "This is such a lovely little spot in an unlikely neighborhood. There are not many businesses open in the evenings on these few blocks, but if you tuck your head in from the dark street outside, you will find a lively atmosphere with activity and friendly, happy people.I started going to Next Door a few months back because my dance friends put on a belly dance show the second Friday of each month. From the beginning, the owner and staff were so friendly. I really like how they give you several tastes of wine to help you find one that you enjoy. They have a nice menu of red, whites, and roses from around the world. It is small and tastefully decorated. Apparently it is a beer bar as well, but I don't know a lot about beer so I cannot comment. What I really like, is that they make you feel welcome when you arrive. Also, they support the arts. They have dance shows, music shows, and trivia... and probably more that I don't know about.I do wish there were more food options. I understand that it is more of a wine bar that a restaurant, but the last couple times, once the dance show was over, it was already too late to order food. I wanted to eat after watching the show, but I guess it's best to order early.Do be careful walking to your car at night, as it is a dark neighborhood without a lot of other business open. I'm hoping to return soon for more arts events. If I lived closer, I would definitely go more frequently!"

So my friend and I came a little before & ordered something first, and then got the special at 8. SERVICE: The staff here were SO nice - you don't have the same person all night but they do team service. Shoutouts: First, Jordan, thank you! We wanted a table that was not too loud & on top of other people so we could talk - but also not too cold. Thank you! Dana also took our order at one point and was really nice. There was also a great server who's a student at UMass & another woman with long brown hair who was really nice when I came in & when I kept running into her.FOOD AND DRINK: First of all, the bottle & board special for $25 is CRAZY. We got the Zinfandel that's normally $48 a bottle, plus the board that's normally $18. TOGETHER, they were just $25. And they were delicious. Thumbs up on the zin (though I might order something different next time). The board: we got 4 kinds of bruschetta: the chef's special French onion (yummy), the mushroom mascarpone (our FAVORITE, so good), ricotta, date and pistachio (good, but forgettable, I'd try something different), and finally the smoked salmon (you can't go wrong with smoked salmon - but it tastes exactly how you think it will, so no surprises like with the mushroom mascarpone!).We also started with the cauliflower appetizer which was INSANELY good. I loved the sauce. I think I will need to get this each time I come. And it was definitely better than the kale salad I got last time (which maybe is not on the menu anymore?). Finally, I was going to get soup for dessert (LOL, but I was trying to be healthy) - but they ran out of it!! So I got the little donut dessert instead. CRAZY good. Chocolate sauce, vanilla sauce, salted caramel sauce. We loved it.So now I've figured out the secret sauce here and when to come and what to get. Will definitely be back with friends in the future!!"

Was spot on. we started off with the fresh focaccia bread with a cucumber cold soup. And Hamachi. Crudo. Large pieces of delicious fish. We enjoyed the buttery filet mignon and the ocean trout from Tasmania . Plenty of food lots of leftovers . The desserts are divine. I had a dark chocolate ganache cake, and we enjoyed the strawberry crêpe dessert. And at the end of the meal, we were given these adorable dark chocolate seahorses filled with caramel. ( make sure to ask for a window table if you can) I think I had called three times. There is plenty of parking on the street if you come early, but they do offer valet parking . ( unfortunately only when they're having their high tide dinners, you cannot sit at the bar, they will charge you the same amount which is 165 per person for dinner. The view is still gorgeous.) And let me tell you, I would have been disappointed not tasting this pizza after having tasted it. LOL, brain twister. After returning from my trip to Italy in high school, I became a pizza snob. So every trip I pick only one special pizza place to visit, and Isola was it for this vacation. I love Neapolitan thin pizza, but I love it when I get a decent amount of chewy crust. This pizza hit the mark! Maybe it could have been cooked for three seconds less, but otherwise, the bottom looked perfectly cooked, and the amount of crust hit the spot. Also, you can tell when a tomato sauce is high quality, and this one was. The pizza was pretty close to a 9.5/10.Always secondary is the restaurant vibe, lol. I'm just there to eat my pizza. But this restaurant has a cool aesthetic (see the bathrooms), and wine bottles and big cans of tomatoes lining the back walls. The booth/table was comfy.Overall, get the pizza!! Finally went on a Wednesday night and parking was a breeze. The place is cute but very loud inside which made me feel more comfortable bringing my kid to, but then she also complained about the noise. We got the goat cheese stuffed squash blossoms, bucatini, a spicy sausage pizza, and kids pizza. The timing was a little off in the courses but I'm sure it was hard to time too. Her pizza came out early and we all snacked on it before the rest of the meal came. I actually liked the kids cheese pizza more than the spicy sausage which was delicious and had a lot more going on. The crust was very tasty and it shone through more for hers. She loved making it and would do it again for sure. The squash blossoms were delicious and the honey and pesto on them were fantastic. The bucatini was delicious-we got the poached egg on top which was a nice addition. The sausage pizza was spicy and had a delicious oil that might have just been from the sausage, or added on top, we couldn't tell. It was very flavorful and good, but I think I would have probably enjoyed some of the other pizzas more. They have a lot of great looking options! We also got a chocolate budino and the lemoncello tart and they were both excellent. The budino had lots of textures to it and was super rich and creamy. The tart was a perfect contrast and we all went back and forth between the two, unable to pick a favorite. We couldn't finish them all and we ended up taking some pizza home. The service was friendly and good, the meal was delicious, and we look forward to returning sometime."

However it seemed like they prefer a reservation. The inside is darling, it feels very European. Service is lovely. They did forget our bread but no biggie. I had a caesar salad and it was divine. The bread was just so-so. A think a varied homemade bread basket would have been a vast improvement. Many tempting dishes on the menu. Most entrees come with a pasta side. I opted for the chicken saltimboca. My mom made a variant of this dish: thin, tender sauteed chicken scallops wrapped in prociutto, and finished in a delicate white wine sauce. Sadly, Mia's version was one tough-as-a-workboot breast wrapped in prociutto and served atop a tablespoon flavorless sauce. It tasted like zero seasonings were used, no salt. No wine detected. The chicken breast was bone dry and overcooked. What I really needed was a steak knife to cut through it. The pasta aside it also had no seasonings, no taste whatsoever. Maybe Mia's is better with red sauce dishes? I don't know. But I was not impressed.Well at least I can vouch for the Caesar- very good!"

Monty D. "This is an interesting restaurant shoehorned between the parking lot and the other businesses. You will certainly be seated close to yet-to-be-made friends. Kudos to them for seating us - even though our online reservations became lost. As you can see from my pic of their table service for pepper flakes and salt, there is a bit of "airs" about them. You'll also see this in the dishes from my food pics. The service was okay on this busy holiday. We started with the Strawberry Salad. This was a great mix of flavors and textures, without the salad being overly bearing of strawberries. As you can see in my pic, we had the strawberry dressing on the side. By mixing, this semi-sweet dressing with astringent arugula lettuce, we blended a great compliment of flavors. The goat cheese was a super creamy compliment with the toasted almonds. And when this was eaten with the dressing and lettuce, this became a very good and unique salad. Our salad was followed by the Bosciaola Rigatoni, see my pic. Again, this was another very good dish. The rigatoni was cooked just right, and served with ample red cream sauce. The spices were bright and the sausage was savory and rich. There was the right amount of sausage to pasta, and sauce, such that each bite had ample flavor. The food was quite good, but the seating is very tight. The wine by-the-glass pricing was reasonable. They don't accept any payment methods that require a PIN, and they didn't voluntarily provide us a bill or receipt for our meal."

It was pretty quiet on a Sat. night and they started to fold up chairs at 8:30 - maybe more people come for breakfast and lunch?Servers were exceptionally nice. Our main server was a 30-something Latinx guy, very friendly. There was also a wonderful young woman with blue hair who brought some food and a young busser (high school?).My St Germantini was a fun change of pace (Cosmo-ish with St Germain). Not a big fan of the basil crystal rim, but a nice drink.I would not recommend the Hot & Crispy Tomato Bread. Their bread is great, but the tomatoes were not seasoned the best and eventually the bread got soggy. They have so many app choices I would recommend trying something else.I loved the Local Strawberry and Arugula Salad with beets and goat cheese. Delicious. Huge. Saved half to take home and it was a great lunch today. My sweetie had the Farmer's Market Salad and it looked fresh. He said it was good.I got the Salmon Burger as my entree. Also HUGE. Not a piece of seared salmon but a mashed seasoned salmon patty (like a crab cake), with french fries. This was way too much food! (it didn't mention French fries on the menu). But this was a good dish. Not what you'd think of as "farm to table" - definitely comfort food. But I liked it.The most annoying (but so annoying as to be almost funny) thing of the evening was not the restaurant's fault at all - there were an older couple on a double date that were unbelievably loud and stayed long after they were done to talk. The tables on the covered patio have more comfortable chairs than on the garden patio (though the garden patio is spacious and also has heaters). We stuck around thinking that they would have to leave soon since they were done eating - but it was almost an hour that they lingered, yelling across the table. I will share, since the woman was being loud enough for all to hear, that one was related to a certain Mexican Jewish real estate reality star in LA, and once she started to share family stories, at least that was good gossip. But yes, if you ever come here the same night as they do... sit far away LOL. The servers realized how loud they were and were offering to move us - but we just kept hoping they'd finish up! When they did, the one other table near us (some very chill guys) and us laughed and celebrated. AND we could finally hear the soundtrack, which was super chill (Isley Brothers and other cool stuff). So I'm glad we tried it out - just keep in mind that you're better spaced on the garden patio and hopefully you won't come here the same night as La U******y."

Scott T. "I love Italian-American food. it's a flavor profile I grew up with. my dad's parents lived in Flatbush and going out to eat at mom-and-pop places in Brooklyn was a real treat. I've been back to NYC as recently as a couple of years ago when #3 son (Keegan) graduated from Columbia and am still a fan.can't say I love Italian food nearly as much. please keep that prejudice in mind as you read this review:the #5 son (Wyatt) started us off with the PROSCIUTTO de PARMA and BURRATA with EVOO and sun-dried tomatoes. the very generous prosciutto portion was thickly sliced. the flavor was there but the meat was chewy. we didn't enjoy even one of the three entrees. the LASAGNA alla BOLOGNESE (wide pasta sheets layered with meat sauce parmigiano and beschamel au gratin) was no bueno. the meat flavor that came through was charred ground beef. the ORATA al PORCINI e ASPARAGI (pan-seared grouper with porcini mushroom and asparagus sauce on in-house tagliatelle) was one of the evening's specials and a complete and unmitigated disaster. this dish had NO redeeming social value. the fish had lots of bones and the tagliatelle was so al dente, the center was a noticeably different color than the outside, and the asparagus overwhelmed the delicately flavored fish.the EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA (eggplant layers with mozzarella, basil, and tomato sauce) was bitter. the taste was like eggplant gets when it's not salted, rested, and rinsed before cooking.I didn't have any of the desert, a BLUEBERRY PANNA COTTA, but it got good reviews from the boy. either it was tasty or after the grouper, he was too starved to be particular. the restaurant is lovely. service was attentive. sitting outside in the semi enclosed front patio was delightful. the dishes were stunning -- dinner was very photogenic. it's often said you eat first with your eyes, but eventually you gotta stick a bite in your mouth and chew. Emmett T. "It took longer than anticipated, but the owners of Pali Wine have now opened Cellar Hand in the Pride Plaza of Hillcrest. About half of the seating was on the adjacent outdoor patio along the east side of the structure that had several fire pits included. The open air interior could seat another 60 customers. Currently, only dinner is served from Wednesday to Sunday, but the plan is to add a weekend brunch.Hyper-local was the focus of the menu as the kitchen tried to execute the farm-to-table concept by using numerous local suppliers. The categories were Raw, Conserva (preserved food in tins/jars), For Dipping, and Dinner. A note on the bottom stated that "We politely decline modifications." I wonder how diners with allergies or certain health conditions can comply with this request?I started my meal with the Bluefin Nduja Toast from the Raw section. Meyer lemon and dill were the seasonings to the diced bluefin tuna that was spread on top of a piece of toast. I appreciated the freshness of the tuna. To stick with the seafood theme, I then ordered the Grilled Whole Rockfish from the twelve Dinner choices. The locally caught fish was so large that a bigger plate was needed to hold the serving. Meyer labne, cucumber, dill, ruby reds, and radish were the garnishments.Since some bones were still present, a separate small dish to hold the picked bones was needed. Either that or if the chef could have completely deboned the Rockfish, then that would have made eating this entree more simple. The tartness from the dill and the acid from the ruby reds provided a sharp contrast to the strong fishy odor. The cost of this item was very reasonable as many restaurants would charge over $40.For a soft opening, I thought the operations flowed pretty well while the place was about 3/4 full during my visit. The waitress checked on me frequently and was pleasant. I gave a four star rating for my dinner at Cellar Hand."

Most places with outdoor seating are pup friendly but I prefer the outdoor area to be spotless and clean as this place was.The service staff and my waiter Matt were nice attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, which was mostly French cuisine, which is always my favorite. Although, there are at least three other french restaurants in the area, I wanted to support this new restaurant and try the owner chef's take on french dishes.I'm guilty, I usually prefer pescatarian and chose the seared salmon. Presented nicely with fresh local organic ingredients, I was impressed with how exquisite the flavors enhanced the salmon's subtlety. The menu evolves seasonally and I look forward to returning to try other dishes. The french baguette slices ordered with the ordered homemade french butter is a must. Pomme frittes ie french fries with the ordered homemade Mayo for dipping was irresistible. From the wine menu, the Maceratoin, an orange wine from Alsace region in France was surprisingly perfect for a restaurant called L'Orangerie, meaning the orange grove. There are no orange groves in the area, but the restaurant is located on Orange Avenue which is restaurant row in the Coronado area. Nothing was bad to be fair, but nothing shined and melted our socks off. The best item was the chicken patte. nice and creamy, balanced. The a5 wagyu tartar, blah, sizzler, the pasta? Blah, olive garden. Restaurant is pretty. Older crowd, no young bros. Its fine but there's better."

Kaloni S. "My friend and I were craving Italian food and actually tried to go to Esca blu, which is temporarily closed. We found this place on the same street and it was truly a blessing in disguise. This was some of the most delicious Italian food I've tried here in San Diego (no exaggeration)!! Making a reservation is super quick via yelp. We were seated right away. The restaurant itself is small making the overall ambiance intimate and cozy. There is also a small outdoor seating area. The servers were all so sweet and warm. We came on a Wednesday and it's 30% off a bottle of wine so we definitely had to indulge! I definitely recommend this place and I will be back in the future. Food review:The complimentary bread was so soft and delicious. We ordered 2 baskets. HahaPrimitiva wine: (5/5) This was recommended by our server and we were not disappointed. This was so delicious. We finished the entire bottle so fast. Burrata fiore di Parma: (5/5) The perfect blend of flavors. The cheese melted in your mouth and the prosciutto was delicious. I topped the cheese, prosciutto, and arugula on a slice of the complimentary bread. Yum!Lasagna: (5/5) They make their own lasagna in house. The sauce is amazing. This is some damn good food. It's interesting there were little carrots inside (I believe) which I've never had before but I didn't mind it. My plate was clean at the end of dinner. Tiramisu (5/5): (no pic because we devoured it) This is a well balanced dessert. It didn't have a strong coffee flavor like some others I've tried. It was light and super flavorful. We asked for some chocolate drizzle on top and it was delightful!"

Heathe M. "I had walked by here a number of times over the years but, Never stopped in until which was Cinco de Mayo ..what a perfect time to have a refreshing libation. In all honesty, the happy, joyful smiling face lured me in. I asked him what beers he had on draft and went with a Mexican larger. It was light and very refreshing. My friend decided to wait until lunch. I did offer her a few sips. This cute little Wine bar is tucked away in the back. They offer beer flights, wine flights and also mimosas. There are a few little tables with stools and a large table inside if you want to share with other people Roses is apleasant place and I'm looking forward to seeing Austin again...Oh, more beer please. Haha"

Charles C. "On my recent re-visit, the reception at the Third Corner had improved. Specifically, the aggressive and unpleasant "hostess" from my last visit was no where to be found. I was seated at a corner table by the window overlooking West Point Loma Boulevard and perused the menu. There are two dining rooms at The Third Corner: The "White Room", where the white wines and sparkling wines/Champagnes are stored; and the "Red Room", where the red wines are stored and where the bar is located. I like the bar itself, but the handfull of tables in the Red Room strewn along a banquette lack charm and the feeling is that of "Siberia". Accordingly, I would be sure to request to be seated in the "White Room".Although several waitresses passed my table numerous times (often calling out "corner" to warn other servers of their presence), no one approached my table for 15 minutes, despite the quiet room and the early hour [5:30 pm]. There were no apologizes or explanations when the waitress finally attended to the table. The specials of the evening were a good Roasted Red Bell Pepper Soup and a Grouper with Red Wine/Butter Soup. I enjoyed them both. I noted the male kitchen waiter would deliver food to the tables by holding out the various dishes in the air saying to no one in particular "Short Ribs?", "Scallops?". He expected the guests to raise their hand as to each "call out", as if the Third Corner was "auctioning off" the food. It would be much more professional if the Waitress who takes the order would identify customers on the order by 1, 2, 3, 4. etc, so that current unprofessional "auction presentation" could be avoided. The after-dinner Irish Coffee was good and properly made. There is a small parking lot along the West Point Loma Boulevard side of the building. If those few spaces are taken, parking can be a nightmare."

Mike M. "My wife and I took advantage of an online deal for two for one Sunday brunch to celebrate our anniversary. Service was very slow in bringing us champagne refills and our check but the rest was self serve at the different buffet stations. They have a weird setup where the bulk of the food was in a corner area of their dining room, while the cold seafood was in the bar area and a third section in a different room altogether for the waffle and omelette station and desserts. We liked the fact that they had some expensive seafood being served by an attendant. It kept the wackos from ruining a good thing by dumping all of the crab on their plate. A bit of portion control let's everyone enjoy the lox and ceviche. Speaking of lox, very odd that they serve it, but not a bagel or cream cheese is served at a Sunday brunch? We still had a great meal for a fair price."

Little Frenchie

Henri V. "When in Coronado, one of my favorite restaurants is Little Frenchie. Serving mostly french selections on their menu. They've perfected the usual french dishes: escargot, french onion gratinée soup, steak frittes, moules frittes and more. Everything is Trés Bon. I like the fact that they open earlier than most in the area. At 9am you can have breakfast ie le petit déjeuner and it's not crowded. Like most restaurants, when there's too many diners, attention to service declines. Otherwise, this bistro is very popular for it's outdoor dining where you can enjoy french food while people watching, a very frenchie fun thing to do at Little Frenchie. Recommend."
