Michael L. "Stopped here for a bowl and loved it! We had dinner reservations at an Italian place for dinner so we were looking for something light and fruit-forward for lunch. The staff (Magdalena) was super helpful and friendly. I got a combo of the three different kinds of sorbet as well as the house works in terms of toppings (fruits, granola, coconut and more). For about $17 (large size), the portion size was incredible! So much sorbet and fresh fruit that they had to put plastic wrap on top to hold everything in place -- pretty legendary in my book! I had to ask for an extra plate to catch the inevitable fruit landslide as soon as I unwrapped it! I liked how it wasn't overly sweet and the ingredients were ultra fresh too. Also got an antioxidant smoothie which was great -- lots of fresh berries, banana and açai, not too sweet either. 100% will be back next time I am in San Diego!!!"

Hurjane V. "Another specialty dining place on campus! I'm not sure why our school makes a huge deal about being the best Vegan restaurant when the competition probably isn't very big on other campuses. Nonetheless, it's still nice to know our school is recognizing different eating habits! I've ordered: -Sunflower Fields: probably my go to dish here! $6 for a huge plate of salad that has artichoke in it! I'm always super full after this dish. -sweet potato fries: YUM! Sometimes it's a hit or miss because it might be burnt or too salty, but their dipping sauce for it (the white one especially!) is so yummy! -Kendra lama: a noodle dish! It was semi filling, but just looks presentable. It has a big piece of coconut in it that is somewhat edible? Flavor was okay- it was the five spices that most Asian dishes have. -chop chop river: this was a disappointment and not filling at all. Literally half a stock of romaine lettuce sprinkled with some fried tofu pieces and onions. Tasty, but not filling. -spicy Sierra: this was yummy! Imitation chicken drenched in BBQ sauce. It's like taco Tuesday but available everyday! -roots vegan chili: you can either get a coup or a bowl. It's pretty good! You can add green onions and tofu cream to it. -fruit tart: VEGAN DESSERT? yay! It's not bad at all! Tastes almost like a regular tart! Pros: -good service! They are nice and helpful. Smiles! -good variety! I'm surprised there is such a big bulletin of different options. -decent prices! For a specialty place, the price is great for the quality and quantity. -nice environment! Good place to study if you have no where to go! Cons: -inconsistent portions: sometimes I've gotten a Sunflower Fields salad without the artichoke, when that is the main ingredient. Also, some people are skimpy on the ingredients. Tips/observations:-sometimes they have number plates and serve you, sometimes they call your name and you pick it up at the front. Overall, highly recommend this place!"

In the past we've ordered pollo asado nachos and carne asada nachos, horchata, agua de tamarindo, agua de jamaica, and today we order two plates: enchilada (beef) + chile relleno with rice and beans, and, burrito (chicken) + enchilada (cheese) with rice and beans and it was delectable! The beans are delicious and feel whipped (this reminds me of mi mama's cooking). The chile relleno has a delicious batter. Everything was very well seasoned, including the carrots we ordered on the side. Highly recommend Vaqueros!"

Khamphone K. "Came by for a late brunch with my friend. There were a few people dining. Street parking is available. They have outside and inside dining. We opted for inside dining, we looked at the menu prior to this visit. Our waitress Pink took our food and drink orders. The food came out fairly quickly and it was super fresh! We had family style dining. We ordered the tangerine "chicken", satay "chicken", spicy noodles level 10 with fried tofu & "beef" and a second order of spicy noodles spice level Zero with fried tofu. The drinks we had were Sapporo and watermelon smash martini (sake base). I wish they had liquor as an option; they only serve wine, beers and sake. The satay chicken and tangerine chicken were super crispy, great flavor and came out piping hot! The satay chicken was marinated vegan chicken; it came with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Tangerine chicken was topped off with their sweet and tangy sauce; served with steamed broccoli and white/brown rice. Our main entree were the spicy noodles with fried tofu and beef. I ordered a level 10 spicy but it was not spicy enough for me. Spicy noodle was made with wide noodles sautéed with onions, bell peppers, basil and carrots in a chili garlic sauce. My friend can't handle spice; so he ordered the spicy noodle level zero with fried tofu. The noodles, vegan beef and tofu were cooked perfectly with great amount of flavor. For dessert we split the mango over sticky rice, it was pretty darn good! The mango, the sticky rice with sweet coconut milk on topped was delicious. We both enjoyed each appetizers and entree. The staff were friendly. The restaurant was open and airy. They also have bathrooms for customers."

Monica E. "Whenever I need to get away and treat myself to lunch in a quiet, calming, meditative place, I come to Sattvik Foods. It's a drive -- goodness. Especially if you are in South Bay. But worth it for a late morning or early afternoon to enjoy a lunch and read a book. I've never met the founder and chef, Kanta. I hope to one day. She draws her inspiration from African and Asian heritage in preparing the dishes, creating a lovely fusion of fresh, flavorful and filling foods. I always, always have leftovers to take for afternoon snacks. You can order online, and catering is available. It definitely seems that Sattvik is getting more and more online orders, but I always like to stay. The restaurant feels like it is in a converted warehouse. It is shotgun side, and the seating is ample and spaced. There is generally no music playing, and very few people speaking. Most come and go quickly. Be sure to check the menu of the day. It rotates. My favorite is the thali, which is a set menu with three curries, an appetizer, dessert, the soup of the day, rice and a bread. Other favorites are the rotis, samosas and the puri dishes -- the entire menu, really. Lots of street food options on the menu. I highly recommend a visit."

Karen N. "This is our go-to place for office lunch with my friend/coworker who is a vegetarian/occasional pescatarian. We usually get our order to go, since that helps with cutting down on time when you have a short lunchbreak. It also helps with your leftovers, since they do a great job of packaging things separately. My usual seems to be Nuts About Veggies, since I love peanut sauce (and peanut butter in general, lol). I usually choose fried tofu as a protein, since it's a little more interesting than the steamed stuff. The large mass of steamed veggies made 3 small meals, since I added a little extra as side dishes. I also added more chopped peanuts when I reheated it, to give it more crunch.I have also had the eggrolls before, and they're really good. My coworker reads to order drunken noodles, and seems to like those. It's a little pricey (3 entrees cost us almost $50), but it's high quality. And if you're paying cash, you can get a peach iced tea for free.It located right next to the 805, so you have to make a u-turn to access the shopping center if you're heading West on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. The center has several other restaurants like STP, and Ma's House."

The decor is sort of a modern, trendy take with an obvious Indian influence. Oh and they have an indoor waterfall for good measure.Service was prompt and friendly and our server did an excellent job explaining the menu and offering suggestions when we asked for them.I think I'm going to be full for a week. We had: spicy tandoori wings, paneer naan, coconut pineapple shrimp curry, mango pineapple pineapple salmon curry and because we were already being gluttons, opted for dessert and had gulab jaman (sort of like a rice donut in syrup) and rusmalai (a cheese-based dessert with cream and cardamom, similar to cheesecake). Although all was tasty, we agreed that our favs were the wings, the paneer naan - which I could've honestly just ate for a meal by itself- and the coconut curry shrimp.Royal India also offers up a full menu of wines, beers and cocktails. When in Rome; I ordered a Taj Mahal lager and it paired perfectly with everything. High marks to the staff and chefs for a great evening out. I would 100% go back."

Kat N. "First, the name of the restaurant is misleading. Hanoi means north and expected some northern style menu items. Nope - all basics - only pho and bun (vermicelli noodles). Not even any rice dishes. Walking in, it looks like a typical small sit down restaurant. But it's not. You have to go up to the cashier and order/pay first, including tip?? FYI- if you come here even after reading my review, don't tip them (or tip very little) because almost everything is self serve. You have to also get your own water, utensils, and condiments. And if you buy a drink (soda cans), you have to retrieve the soda by yourself from the fridge. I probably wouldn't care so much if the food was extraordinary and/or pricing was good. Nope. The special bowl of pho is $16 and it had very little meat and tendons in it. Looked pathetic, especially since we are from LA/OC area. My vermicelli noodles with pork and egg rolls was average. The egg rolls were basically all veggies. No meat or shrimp as expected. Taste was at least average (hence the extra star). For 5 ppl, bill was $100 (added on soda and one coffee). I didn't know and gave tip. Ugh."

So I had looked at this place for the photos and reviews on Yelp after she mentioned she wanted to go on her upcoming birthday weekend. Everything looked just fine and I was actually somewhat intrigued to find out for myself.Luckily my favorites were the wonton soup and the avocado rolls, which were the items I ordered. Excellent taste on both! I also nibbled off my kid's plate of orange chicken and the lady's kung pao and honestly the flavor and texture were very good, all the while knowing that this wasn't real chicken. That's the part that gets me. I would rather not know! The fiery shrimp appetizer was flavored well, but I was slightly let down with the rubbery texture. This did not bother anyone else..The Thai tea- a fantastic example no different than any Thai restaurant would serve! I can say now I've been to 2 vegan places and they were both worthy! You somehow do feel a little lighter or less full at a place like this. Just what my body needs, but I know I'd have a hard time keeping on a diet like this. Extra pounds would fall off quickly. But... long story short, we were originally going to head to another Thai restaurant, but the one that was recommended had closed, or moved locations. Instead of getting another Uber/Lyft, we all decided to walk down University Ave to see what other restaurants were open, and could seat a party of 7 on a Wednesday night. Since it had been raining most of the day, all restaurants with patio seating were a no-go. Ultimately, we ended up at a Thai restaurant after all. We were seated rather quickly for a party of 7, and were also able to order quickly. With the "divider" in the middle of the room, it provided a sense of "privacy" from the other half of the room as well.
