"It's not often that you go to a place for your second time and it's better than the first time. But tonight we felt so welcomed and the food was sensational. The service if it's possible was even better. My wife had the mahi-mahi plate and I had my fish and chips , which are spectacular. Thank you all."
"Vien Dong has been around for many moons. Vien Dong means "far east," and it is an appropriate name because the store offers Asian goods. I actually remember when there used to be a Vien Dong location in Linda Vista, which is now Thuan Phat. But enough on the history, and on to what brought us here.We were in the neighborhood to visit the restaurant Phuong Nga to grab lunch, but the wifey wanted to check this store out first.I expected a fishy smell, which is common in many Asian markets, but upon entering I was pleasantly surprised that the smell was more subtle than expected. So this market has a lot of Asian goods that you won't find at an American grocery store. They sell a wide variety of noodles like rice noodles, egg noodles, flat noodles, ramen, etc. You want fish sauce, plum sauce, Hoisin, oyster, chili paste, Sriracha, or black bean in chili oil? Meats or seafood? Chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, fish? Vien Dong has you covered! They sell fruits and vegetables that are unique to Asian markets, and some that I don't even know the English translation for. The produce appeared to be fresh, and it seemed to be well stocked. They also sell other Asian goods here like cookware, snacks, pick up and go foods, Vietnamese coffee, teas, and other drinks. The store could be cleaner in certain areas, and it could definitely use to TLC, remodeling, upgrades or whatever you want to call it, in other areas (such as the flooring).I can't comment on the service because we didn't purchase anything here. If we needed to cook up an Asian dish at home, and we were in the neighborhood, then this is a store we would visit.3.5 / 5 - Food Items and Goods3 / 5 - Service (probably average)2.8 / 5 - Cleanliness3 / 5 - Prices3 / 5 - Overall"

Yes, I recommend them . I enjoy coming here it's one of the best sea food restaurants I have ever been to.I recommend them to everyone I know. Thank you, staff at Point Loma Sea food. You did an amazing job A"
"Finally got the chance to come here! I've been craving a good ahi tuna sandwhich and this place did not disappoint! I order the wasabi crusted sesame seed crusted ahi tuna sandwich, onions rings, clam chowder , a dozen oysters & sautéed mussels and clams. Everything was delicious! I would order everything again except for the oysters, they weren't the best. I came on a Friday afternoon , plenty of street parking available and tables indoor and outdoor,"
"I've ordered twice now from Pole2Plate and have been super satisfied with the quality of fish and service. I used to go to Catalina Offshore and wait in line sometimes 20-30min. After having a baby it was harder to get away that long for some fresh catch. I'm excited to have a local fish shop to order from that delivers to your door."
"After several visits years apart, this place has been great for service especially and the meals are slightly above average. But so are the prices. You might realize that over the years they have not evolved with newer menu choices, but this is a classic seafood restaurant that won't budge. They have their loyal clientele. For years after winning $ at the races at Del Mar, we would come here or just down the road to Fidel's. Never a bad visit. Of course , we were typically a little happier after winning money, which was nice. Nobody ever complained about anything when we went, and this hasn't changed. Some classic items that I find consistently good - Fried fish, shrimp and chips -New England clam chowder-Fresh baked sourdough rolls -Calamari appetizer -Seafood Cioppino -Grilled swordfish -Grilled Mahi-mahi This is actually still a fish market, as the name says. The glass case is near the front entrance and always has the freshest fish and seafood for purchase. I've been told before that they do their best to locally source all the seafood. One of my childhood friends was a commercial fisherman for over 20 years, so I've learned a little about this industry from him. He knew some local fishermen that would sell their daily catch to local seafood restaurants throughout the county. This location has a Happy Hour, but the other near Seaport Village does not. It remains a solid choice for a wide variety of non-eclectic classic fresh seafood platters, and we've never been disappointed or let down on our visits."
"Food:Clam chowder was delicious. Had the dungeness crab and shrimp sandwich with some shrimp tacos, all very fresh, light and delicious.Service: Great service. Friendly servers.Ambiance:Cool fish shop by the beach. Check it out if you're in the La Jolla area"
"I had driven by Adalynes Chicken Shack & Fish Market recently before their grand opening. The building looked nice, but I noticed the number of on-site parking spaces was limited. When you walk in, there was a dining room to the left with flat screens on a wall with sports programming being shown. The area was large and clean as I saw a worker wiping down dirty tables and clearing the trash. The service counter was to the right where the raw food items were on refrigerated display. This section was rather tight with not much space to look up at the menu screens because some chairs were lined up next to the windows. The left menu screen displayed the combo meals. Chicken/fish/shrimp + 1 side were priced between $12.99 and $14.99. The middle screen had the chicken, fish & chips, and shrimp & chips listed as a la carte items. The right menu screen showed the appetizers, beverages, and sides. The appetizers were calamari, oysters, gizzards, and frog legs which you could get as fried products.I ordered the two piece fish, four shrimps + 1 side combo. Red snapper was my fish choice while I selected the sweet potatoes for my side. The latter was in the form of small tater tots which I thought was unique for sweet potatoes. The breading on the food was not too thick, however all the items were soggy by the time I opened up the bag and removed them to eat.All the fried fare is made to order. That was one positive attribute. The not so good was the amount of food for the price (i.e. mediocre value). Another area of needed improvement is how the items were packed for to-go orders. The way the food was wrapped and bagged caused moisture to be retained which quickly destroyed whatever crispiness that the deep fry had created. The owners should go to other mom and pop shops in the area that serve fried chicken, fish, and shrimp to observe how they place the finished products in a styrofoam container with holes punched on the lid to allow the steam to escape. Such a technique allows for the crispiness to last longer, especially if a customer has a long drive home."
"Man I love this placeWe've been going here for years and they never disappoint! They've got the best guacamole! They also have great salsas. And don't forget their carne asada. We pick up a few pounds every other week or so and throw so great BBQs with their meat. If you're feeling lazier, they BBQ a mean Tri-Tip outside the store. I recommend getting their Tortas with the tri-tip... SOO goodThey just remodeled and expanded so the store is more spacious. Teresa still runs the register. Her service is great. She's the nicest lady ever... so thoughtful and caring"
"What a funny place. Had I not gotten a recommendation from a friend, I would have missed out on this gem. Lobsters were $30 each for a 1.5lb lobster when I came in ON NYE, but it was a special treat. Highly recommend. Don't be deterred by the wallpaper for sale. Funny combo business, in what I assume is a husband & wife group."

Looks like a nice restaurant from the fresh looking display of fish to the outdoorsy patio shared with other restaurants. It was my first time because a former coworker forever friend who was visiting from the Bay Areas suggested it. Price wise was ok and the quantity was big. However I did not like the flavor and consistency of my Cham chowder. All potatoes with no clams and lukewarm. We also shared the calamari appetizer that was fine for 2 and had a nice flavor on the salty side. For the amount of fish the companion salsas should be also more abundant in my opinion.

I've been a fan of Vien Dong since I shopped with them in their long-defunct Linda Vista store. Vien Dong Supermarket 4 is smaller than that one was, and it's also smaller than its sister, World Foods Supermarket on El Cajon Blvd.; than Clairemont/Kearney Mesa's 99 Ranch Markets; and than many other local Asian stores. But smaller doesn't mean less. I've purchased live shellfish at Vien Dong 4 - blue and Dungeness crab, crawfish and shrimp - along with spices and other supplies for multiple backyard seafood boils. The store's owner, San, has been helpful, to the point of giving me first look at boxes of crabs when they come in.Over the 10 years that I've patronized VD4, I've had a couple of problems. But when the store was at fault, they've always made things right, usually while I wait, which begs the question: were they really problems, or just delays? [NOTE: I don't really count getting pushed around by sharp-elbowed aunties as a problem; I have a couple hundred pounds on them, and I give as good as I get.]Anyway, the grocer's prices are competitive and I'm happy with their service, so unless I need something they don't carry, convenience wins, and Vien Dong 4 Supermarket is my Asian store of choice.

Haven't been here in many years.I was impressed by the size and volume of the mussels! I tried the un-traditional version -- jalapeno -- and I was surprised that it came in a giant bowl. I was enjoying that I forgot to count the number of mussels (or the number of shells). The tomato based broth had lots of jalpenos and was a little spicy but not too much. The mussels were fresh and I ate every single one, along with the the three slices of toasted sour dough bread. I took the left over broth in a to go soup container. Next time, I will try the traditional white wine version. My friend had yellowfish tuna (?) -- some kind of fish that he really liked. I liked the "help yourself" water with the dispenser and cups. We sat outside on the patio area on the side of the restaurant. It has outdoor seating in the front too. We will be back!

Heard about Pole2Plate through some friends & figured I would try it out since my husband loves anything fresh fish. Super easy to order (you order by the 1/2 pound) and really quick delivery. It even came in a cute cooler :) We got the Bluefin Tuna and made some bowls with our fish. It was really fresh and delicious! Can't wait to use them again and try the other fish they offer!

If you're a big fan of seafood, you will definitely enjoy this restaurant! So many options to choose from. I was a bit disappointed that they don't have lobster rolls on their menu anymore. Our waitress was really nice but she was also really busy so it took a while for her to take our order.

If you're looking for delicious, fresh, no frills seafood, this is your spot. Simple. Delicious. Super friendly and helpful staff. The place is a little echoey, so can be kind of loud. Seating is all first come, first served. But they had a good amount of seats available. A solid selection of beer but also a couple non-alcoholic drinks on hand too. Don't question it. Just go.

Adalynes Chicken Shack is a bit like Imperial Fish Market. https://www.hungryones.com/2022/05/imperial-fish-market/ You can buy fish by the pound and they will fry it for you. I arrived at 11am but there wasn't any fish out nor was there any when I left at noon. I guess the lunch crowd isn't a big buyer of fresh fish. I tried the fish and 1 side with 4 shrimp. For my side I picked onion rings. I liked the crunchy beer batter and onions. Shrimp had a crunchy batter and mild shrimp flavor. I picked whiting for the 2 pieces of fish. Corn meal batter gave a nice crunchy texture. Whiting had a strong fishy flavor I didn't like. Da Chicken Coop is the only place in town I've had great tasting whiting at. https://www.hungryones.com/2020/03/da-chicken-coop-4/I hate to say it but the option I picked was too much fried food. Next time I'd just get the fish and side dish. Hopefully the catfish and red snapper are better quality than the whiting.2nd visit I tried the 2 piece fish with side. Crinkle cut fries are one of my favorites. Sadly these were overcooked. Some of them were hard and dried out. Many had browning on the edges and had a burnt flavor. I rarely come across fries with a burnt flavor but I guess crinkle cut fries need to be carefully watched while frying. Shack Shake is where I normally get these fries.Catfish was ordered mild and was extremely mild. I didn't taste any of that distinctive catfish flavor you get when you eat catfish. Cornmeal batter added a crunchy component but didn't really add much flavor. Catfish was cooked properly as the fish was moist while the cornmeal batter was crunchy. Felix's BBQ is my favorite spot for fried catfish.I was here at noon and there wasn't any fish out for display. 2 customers came in for takeout as I was leaving. Hope they have better business for dinner as the lone employee was nice and got my order out promptly.

The folks that work the booth are super nice, and have great suggestions on what to get if you're having trouble deciding. Super fresh, and top quality, be sure to stop by."
"This place can be so fire depending on what you get! My daughter always gets carne asada fries. Always a great choice. Fish tacos are always fresh, I would just say the sauce inside is a little bland. Rolled tacos are good but the fish one has an off taste to it. Oysters are always fresh and cleaned well! Cannot go wrong with to ceviche. The servers are all really on it! Making sure we are good, helping with suggestions, and give off really good energy! We've been here a handful of times. Hoping to try more of their seafood! The vibe sometimes has a live band! Super loud. I would call ahead if you're not a fan because they come most weeks. For me, it was giving Mexicooooo so we loved it! There are sports TV and lots of hot sauce options on the table which is heaven to me! Not to mention complimentary chips & salsa for dine in!"
"I was in this area alot when Huffman's Bbq was open. Looks like redevelopment is closing in. Big modern buildings are replacing the single family houses and little family owned businesses. In Imperial Fish Market you can either buy a pound or more of fish and pay $3 for them to fry it or you can order a basket with fries at the register. I wanted to try the fries so I ordered a 3 piece basket with fries. You can get regular fries or seasoned fries for 50 cents more. I picked the seasoned fries. Fries were crispy with a strong peppery flavor. Next time I think I'll go with no fries as the fish is what I'm really interested in.There is a very good selection of fish that are filleted and ready to fry. I picked the perch as I have not seen it available as fish and chips anywhere else in town. You can get this fish mild or spicy. I picked mild. Fish comes coated in a mild corn meal batter which tasted unseasoned. Mild flavor was a bit too mild as the perch was very mild flavored. My mom made a delicious perch dish where the perch was marinated in a soy ginger sauce and steamed. I don't like spicy food but I would like a third option like small amount of spice above mild.I like how there are tons of choices for what fish you want fried but Sally's Fish House is my favorite spot for fish and chips as they batter sea bass with the exact level of spice I love."
"Dinner here with my friends was awesome! The service was great and we enjoyed our selections! The grilled oysters and clams were delicious. We added tagliatelle to the clams to make it more of an entree. But my fav was the crispy albacore belly picatta! It's to die for. The cocktails were pretty crafty and a bit pricey with most $17+. I had The Fishery Milk Punch made with tequila, vermouth, yogurt and clarified oat milk. Very cute, but next time I'll opt for a glass of wine. The dining room has a classic fish house feel, much like The Fish Market. But there's also a patio for those warm summer nights."
"No photos of the smoked scallops or shrimp done today because we WOLFED it down as soon as it came out of the wrappers and onto a plate! So delicious with just the right amount of heat! There are many more delicacies available and all are displayed creatively and simply too! It's so nice inside to see all staples and fish easily. Service is so impeccable and polite. My favorite fishmonger in San Diego!"
"The views combined with excellent service and tasty food made made this place OUTSTANDING"
"Small fresh seafood spot, but so happy they had blue crabs. So hard to find. Come early for the crabs or call first cz they sell out quick. Affordable fresh seafood."
"Lovely Vietnamese grocery store in City Heights. Ample parking. Pretty clean and well kept. Surprisingly high ceilings. Lots of folks working hard inside. Has great stock of whatever you need with logical organization. Fair pricing."
"You want fresh fish in SD? It doesn't get much fresher than Tuna Harbor Dockside Market! Tuna Harbor is an open-air seafood market along San Diego Bay that operates on Saturdays from 8am-2pm. They sell what they are able to catch locally, so selection is dependent on the season and also the success of the fishing trips. There are two lines. The left line is for shellfish. Right line is for fish. If you want your fish cleaned, check out the farthest tent in the back after making your purchases. They only charge a few bucks per fish. Moreover, they sell leftover heads and spines from that tent if you're trying to make stocks/curries/etc. Moreover, there may be a boat docked right along the market. They usually sell fish as well (it was tuna last time I visited). ___T I P S & I N F O___-Get there early. I mean EARLY. The market is popular and parking is limited. You'll want to secure a parking spot and get first dibs on the best fish at the market. -Some vendors accept card/cash. Some vendors only accept cash. Come prepared. -Ask questions! It's always helpful to know about flavor profiles and best cooking methods. -They do not deliver. You need to attend the market. -You can purchase a limited selection of seafood for curbside pick up. Online ordering opens at 5pm on Thursdays and closes at 7pm on Fridays. Missed your pick up? No problem! Your food will be donated to local first responders. -Check their social media on Friday afternoon as they usually post their Saturday offerings. Still, that's not a guarantee. I was sent to the market to pick up a specific species of crab, and the fisherman had to "call his guy" to check if any were coming later. Apparently, the water was too warm that morning and none were caught.Overall, this is one of the best places in SD to buy local seafood. Stop by if that floats your boat."
"Blue Water Seafood in San Diego has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives by my patron saint, Guy Fiery, and for good reason. This place serves some of the freshest seafood tacos I've had. We tried their award winning "Track Taco" with shrimp, Maui onion, and mango slaw along with their snapper taco. Both were immaculately crafted with fresh seafood and were among the best tacos we had in San Diego. This joint brought me to flavortown for sure."
"Located in the same complex as Wonderland Ocean Pub, this branch of Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill was set up just yards across from the waterfront. Parking in this busy area of Ocean Beach was all curbside and can be tricky to find an open space depending on what time of the day you arrive. The suite was filled with many decorations and photos of maritime memorabilia. There were a couple of glass displays in which you could buy fillets of fresh fish by the pound like at a supermarket. The service counter ordering was similar to many of the local fish shops around town. Different grilled fishes could be prepared as sandwiches, salads, plates, or tacos. Other items like poke, sashimi, soups/chowder, cioppino and raw oysters were also available. I picked a cup of clam chowder and a medium shrimp and crab chilled seafood sandwich for my meal and then sat a table with bench seating. The chowder was smooth and creamy with numerous chunks of clam. The sandwich was toasted and contained lettuce and tomato as toppings to the shrimp and lump crab meat. I thought the freshness of the ingredients stood out. This place was a nice option if you wanted to eat healthy seafood that was not deep fried although you can get that too with the beer battered fish and chips. I had no problem with giving a four star rating for my dining experience at Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill."
"This is my new go-to for local seafood in point Loma. I love their prepared seafood, tuna salad, ceviche, smoked fish. Plenty of options here! Easy to park behind the building. I tried a crab stuffed jalapeño pepper. That was amazing. One cool thing is they let you sample the salads before you buy them."
"This is my little spot when I want some pretty cheap food and don't want to deal with the crowds. This is your typical Mexican market with a little bit of this and that. I usually come here for carne asada, tortillas, produce and Mexican ice creams. A very small location but it's packed with a bunch of gems!"
"The very best uni and ikura! Great communication and service. Fast and careful delivery.Marlene"
