"I finally found myself in this neighborhood during lunch. I've had this sub shop bookmarked for years. On a Sunday, there were a few people waiting for sandwiches. The employees were friendly and promptly greeted me. I ordered a medium Italian sub for my husband and a small #3(ham and capacolla) on a wheat roll. I thought my sandwich was pretty darn good. They have all the sandwich toppings and dressings you can think of. I ordered mine with lettuce, tomato, pickles, pepperoncinis, sweet hot mustard, and red vinegar. There was just the right amount of everything. The wheat roll was soft and fresh. My husband had the medium Italian sub. There was ham, salami, pepperoni, and capacolla. He thought it was really good and huge. He could have ordered the small sub like mine. There is some inside seating but we ate outside with our dog. We will be back!"

"Natural Style Chicken has an interesting menu. In addition to chicken they also have some Japanese and Korean dishes.I tried the kalbi ribs with rice. Rice was moist and garlic infused. I don't like the bitter flavor of garlic and that's all I could taste of the rice so I didn't eat it. Ribs also had that bitter garlic flavor but not as much. Ribs were kinda chewy. I would not order the kalbi or the rice again. It took awhile to get the garlic flavor out of my mouth. If you are a garlic lover this is the place for you. Cashier was nice and my order didn't take too long."

"Super friendly "mom and pop" donut shop tucked away in a small plaza in the farthest corner of Mira Mesa Blvd, in the same plaza as Loving Hut.The parking lot is small and can get very busy around mealtimes.Pro tip: The plaza below is connected to this one via a staircase. So if it's packed here, you can drive down to the adjacent plaza to park there and walk up the concrete staircase to get your daily steps in and offset the donut calories. Haha!Anywho, this is a donut shop review so I should actually write about donuts right?!I would categorize this as a traditional donut shop. Service is friendly and not pushy. They serve tasty and fresh donuts.I have visited multiple times and ordered different donuts and can report I have not taken home a single stale or yucky donut yet. Yay!They offer a selection of about a dozen traditional donuts and donut holes, with a daily special donut usually available.I should note that this shop also sells coffee and bottled drinks. In the corner of the shop there is a small set of old school vending machines, with gum balls, stickers and toys.My girls were delighted to discover they sold "Happy Bunny" stickers featuring a set of words to create your own custom sarcastic message.There are several tables set up inside that are well-spaced, if that is a concern. Just outside, there is a bench and a table.It's a bit of a drive for me to visit, but the donuts from this shop are the same ones we would eat after attending mass in person so there's a nostalgic factor to it for us. And happy memories help make happy kids."

"Date of most recent visit: November 4, 2023Review #1450!The family had come here a couple of weeks prior to celebrate my brother's birthday; while we shared the Fit For a King pizza (lots of cheese on that one), I resolved to come back here after donating blood to try one of their sandwiches.I went with the Super Torpedo ($12.65) - this was a pretty good sized sandwich stuffed with ham, capicolla, cotto, hard salami, and provolone cheese on a toasted Italian roll. As there's no sides with the sandwich, I also went with a side of Sicilian olives ($5.15). My food turned out good - I even brought half the sandwich home to share with my father - but it felt like there was something missing that I couldn't quite put my finger on. This Filippi's is spacious with a large parking lot. Service is quick enough.I suppose for Italian food, this location is what it is; given how each Filippi's location their own menus, though, perhaps I should stick to the Scripps Ranch location (closer to me... and it has prime rib!)."

Parking is not easy in this area as everyone is looking for a spot before spending time at the beach. If you can make a quick run, then there is a 15-minute parking space across the street.The place had numerous shelves of dried goods. Next to the service counter was a refrigerated display of deli meats, cheeses, and salads. A small menu board was posted above and behind the register. A few small tables were available inside along with a large one right outside the front entrance.My goal was to pick up a sandwich on the go. I ended up choosing a chicken salad inside a French croissant. It came as two pieces with the tasty salad stuffed in the middle. The croissant was crispy and flaky. Perhaps the serving size could have been larger for the price. I gave my visit here a rating between three and four stars."

"Not sure why I didn't discover this Panera location even though it's been here for 2 years already. I can say that it still looks brand new, decent parking spaces with drive thru included; and the interior looks pretty clean as well.Following the lawsuit against their company, all their Panera locations now have to get rid of the charge drinks, if you want to buy them, you have to let one of the employee know to get it for you. I am on their unlimited drinks program for a long time, I could confirm that their caffeinated drinks didn't kill me or driving me crazy, I guess the person who suffered from it must have drank a tons uncontrollably, but oh well it ruined the experience for everyone else nationwide. Now that I found out about this spot, I can make a quick stop here in the future."

The beef was tender and juicy, and most importantly very tasty. The order comes in sets of three. I've also had in the past: the shrimp tacos which were great and they do not hold back on the shrimp, the French Toast, the breakfast wrap, the chicken Caesar wrap, and chilaquiles. "This is the third time we went to Haven. I have eaten all three vegan pizzas on their menu, I think there may be four but I can't remember. My husband had their vegan meatballs with pasta which is also quite good I stole some bites. This is probably the BEST vegan pizza I've had in San Diego so far and I've had a lot of them. They don't overdo the cheese and give you options for some tasty cheeseless pizza too, you won't miss the cheese I assure you. Nice happy hour with those delicious bread knots I've included here which we ended up taking home to go with the dinner I cooked last night. Nice atmosphere although it was a little chilly in there (this review wa.)s written in January 2024) so next time I will bring a sweater. Mission Brewing was closed but I believe they allow you to bring food from restaurants in there, KBC did. We don't usually come to Kennsington but since it's so close to our YMCA we will make it over once in a while to get some delicious pizza and pasta! Lot's of meat stuff too and more traditional carnivore options, I only am writing about the vegan and vegetarian menu because we don't eat meat. Try their house Chianti with a bowl of their pasta and their knots. Nice pairing and quite delicious!"

"The experience wasn't bad, and it usually isn't with Chick Fil A. However, this location is TERRIBLE. Chick Fil A always brings a lot of traffic to their locations. This parking lot is pitifully small and the drive thru backs up quickly. This leads to the drive thru line winding through the lot and to the street. The worst part is when the drive thru doesn't move, there isn't enough room for people to back out of parking spaces and leave. If you have to come here, I highly recommend waiting in the drive thru line. You'll have a really hard time exiting any of the parking spaces in the parking lot."

I enjoyed it but I should have requested pepper for a little more seasoning. Lastly, the only concern I had was that I couldn't justify the "seafood" Cobb salad because it only had two pieces of shrimp. The presentation was nice but I felt it needed more seafood to be called a "seafood" club salad. Overall , I enjoyed the experience and those fries!!!!"

"The local Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) competition is heating up with another new entry into the SD market. BHC Chicken has opened its second US store with this location at The Mercato Food Hall in Sorrento Valley. They are supposedly South Korea's most popular KFC chain. The suite had capacity for about 50 customers. The menu wasn't all fried chicken as several traditional Korean dishes were available (e.g. spicy rice cakes).You could place an order using the self service kiosk or with a cashier. I found the options to be confusing, namely the fact that some of the sauces were unavailable to be paired up with certain chicken cuts. I don't if this was a supply issue or a speed bump in the operation because they had been in business for less than a week during my visit. The fried chicken is made to order so plan for additional waiting time while the food is being prepared.Two of the signature flavors were the Gold King (Korean soy sauce, honey, and garlic) and Bburinkle (Korean cheese seasoning). I chose the Bburing Cheese Balls as an appetizer which had the latter sprinkled on top of the deep fried product filled with mozzarella cheese. The fritters were chewier than I had anticipated as the pastry dough was glutinous rice (i.e. mochi).The cashier convinced me to order the thighs which I requested with a Classic Fried flavor. Eight pieces were served with sweet chili sauce per my choice. More of this dip was needed to match the portion size of the order. The batter was light and very crunchy. It was probably one of the better executed versions I have tasted in the SD area. Better Happier Choice... not so sure about this pretentious, abbreviated motto, but I felt my dining experience was at a four star level."

They were kind enough to heat the falafel up for me. Everything was delicious, especially the garlic sauce! Prices were really reasonable. "I can't believe how lucky UCSD students are nowadays. Back then, we didn't even have an Ike's in San Diego and when they finally opened one, it was all the way in Hillcrest. I love the variety here and with such a huge menu, you can try something different almost every time. With each sandwich, you can choose the type of bread and there's a few "freebie" add-ons such as lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onions, etc. Each order also comes with a Tootsie Caramel Apple Pop...that's always been like that, no matter which location I've been to. Menage A Trois: Halal chicken, honey mustard, BBQ sauce, honey, and pepperjack, swiss, and cheddar cheese. Every sandwich is also served with the Dirty Sauce, which is their garlic aioli. This sandwich is on the sweeter side with the honey and BBQ sauce. Be careful of the sauce, it was constantly dripping and made a mess. I was a little worried that the chicken would be dry but it was super moist, almost as if it just absorbed all the sauces. I ordered the food to-go and it was ready in less than 5 minutes! Glad to see that they have their system down, but I do wonder how it'll be when it gets busy. Come for their Grand Opening Event at 10AM on May 25th, 2023! The first 50 people in line will receive a free T-shirt and sandwich! Also all sandwiches will be $7.97, which is almost a 50% discount. Also, be sure to join the rewards program which gives a free sandwich on your birthday."
