"I read the reviews and heard good things so I was excited to try it. Didn't realize it wasn't a restaurant well not a sit down restaurant. They sell meats and sides and fresh sourdough. They do a lot of catering and special events. They do have sandwiches and meat box specials. I tried the tri tip and the pulled pork and both were delicious but I found the tri tip a bit salty but duh put it on some sourdough and BAM add some fresh roasted garlic (oh heck yeah) I kept eating. The people were friendly and it's cute inside with some hats for sale and some horns hanging. I'm going to have them cater an event in a few weeks and they were willing to work with me on the menu and make adjustments if I wanted. I'd check em out. It's nice you can order a meat box with a couple sides and essentially try before you go crazy in here."
"Da Real Deal Black Seed OilI shop here for five reasons: 1) black seed oil, 2) Jerusalem olive oil, 3) whole coffee beans, 4) teas and 5) hard to find spices.Although this market offers a lot more to a variety of culture and diaspora cultures. The black seed oil is pressed every single day. It can't get more organic than that. Jerusalem olive oil is only sold here. Can't get more original than that. It's an all purpose oil in my home. I dip my bread in it with French sea salt. My hair is luxurious. My skin is radiant. My make-up is removed easily. And my DIY body scrub is buttery soft.No need to comment on customer service because every single customer is "the family."Prices are incredibly fairHey you..reading this...you will be given immeasurably more than you can imagine."
"Main St. in El Cajon has become a hub for Mediterranean/Middle Eastern grocery stores and another one has opened, Big Bear Produce. What an adorable name, right? They even have a bear on their big, bright signage. For me what sets them apart is that they're a full-service market compressed in a smaller, easily navigable space. They have a hot food section offering beef and chicken shawarma and a handful of other dishes like lentil soup, rice and potatoes. They make their own bread and baklava (they're pretty good!) and also have a meat section with halal/non-halal meats. The staff here has always been friendly and greet me with a smile when I walk in. On one occasion when I picked up some beef shawarma, the lovely lady threw in two complimentary sammoon bread with my order! How sweet of her :)btw they cut their shawarma really thick here...and it's always been very moist and nicely seasoned. Delish!Produce is fresh and reasonably priced. It may be limited at times, but they always have a decent selection. It's my new favorite Mediterranean grocery store."
"I love the little upgrades they've been adding throughout the years. It's starting to look real nice! The primary reason I go here is for their tortillas. They have a ice box by the meat dept. Full of hot corn tortillas. And if you're looking for flour tortillas, they too are hot and fresh in the bakery. The prices are always cheaper here but it's because you should anticipate to eat the stuff TODAY. Especially the meat and fruit. Which is okay with me. I've been saving money buying like that. Buying the meals of the day and I've never gotten sick. I recommend their tacos at their food stand. And the chicharrones are yummy too. Never stale. I'll also note: some friends of mine who are restaurant owners buy their meat and tortillas here. ;-) keep that in mind."
"Man I love this placeWe've been going here for years and they never disappoint! They've got the best guacamole! They also have great salsas. And don't forget their carne asada. We pick up a few pounds every other week or so and throw so great BBQs with their meat. If you're feeling lazier, they BBQ a mean Tri-Tip outside the store. I recommend getting their Tortas with the tri-tip... SOO goodThey just remodeled and expanded so the store is more spacious. Teresa still runs the register. Her service is great. She's the nicest lady ever... so thoughtful and caring"
"Was hungry and in the area and saw 1.00 tacos so that got me. I walked in and noticed a plethora of things to order so I decided to try a little bit of everything. I got the the smoked bbq ribs, a chicken tamale, and a few tacos. The food here was bomb and just what I would expect from a hole in the wall. The tamales are wrapped in banana leaves and if u don't know gives the masa a unique taste that is delicious. The bbq ribs were spot on and super juicy and smoky. The tacos were ok not the best but definitely worth a dollar. If imever back in the neighborhood I'll el back forrrrr surrreeee"
"If you've been to any of the more sizable grocery stores in Tijuana you'll know the name, SuKarne. Their packaged carne arrachera is absolutely insane, but not available in the United States. Unless you carry it across the border, which apparently is okay since it's a packaged meat product, you'll have to make the trip south for this specific treat. The good news is that this location does carry some great cuts that can easily be marinated to replicate their south-of-the-border greatness, but you will not find the ready to go packages. In my eyes, it just makes the meat that much more delicious when you get it!"
"Great selection of high-quality meet at our local butcher shop. Just got 25% off your purchase as part of the Black Friday special. Can't wait to try when we get home later to cook."
"Was looking forward to a luscious prime rib for my birthday dinner. I've shopped at places like Iowa meats and Costco for lovely ribs but they are outrageously expensive . I've shopped Vons with the special coupon price.... Excellent deal but really fatty and not prepared. Mark was very generous with his time and it was nice to talk to a knowledgeable butcher who is also a foodie! We decided on a 7 bone prime rib , trimmed, Frenched bones and trussed! I was looking for quality at a great price and I got that and then some! Thank you Mark!"
"Covid 22nd reviewMy French friend was in heaven here. All the hard to find French goodies were here for her. I had fun looking at and learning about french foods. Escargot, duck, rillette, St. Michel...Also, the free cookie with check in was by St. Michel. Very cool!"

Must visit! Excellent meats, priced close to supermarket but far exceeding their quality. Prepared food is available but I've only had the chili, which was delicious and meaty.Nice people deliver excellent service, come support out local businesses.

The Mid East Market has all things Mediterranean/Middle East and somehow packs all that into a pretty small space given their selection. I love that they have not only one of everything you could possibly be looking for, but they have multiple brands of most items as well, so you can be sure to get your favorite. Dry goods out the wazoo, but also a huge selection of frozen and fresh prepared foods. The garlic spread that they make is to die for. Staff is so nice and will help you find anything you need. They are attentive enough to notice if you biked or walked in and then package up your goods to make it easier to get them home with your mode of transport.

Best place for Halal meat. I only buy the chicken but its better than any chicken anywhere in town. The produce is decent for a small shop, really only good for squash, melons, lemons, and tomatoes. Their avocados are always bad, but they have a decent deli with cheese and breads and Its honestly the only way I can afford food. Bless this establishment, they have fed me well for very cheap and kept me alive, I really appreciate this store and their prices.

Tried their tri tip torta and it was delicious! The meat was very smokey, tender and flavorful, and everything else about the torta tasted fresh. Call ahead to order and you can either take it to-go or there are some tables right outside to eat at. It is a small market/liquor type store so there are snacks/beverages to go with it. Huge parking lot!

My son and I moved 1 block away and this place takes good care of us. One time they accidentally switched boxes and gave me a box of chicken bones instead of my burrito and when I went back the owner was so apologetic he gave me my order free even though I live only a block away and he also gave me a large order od fries (The large fries has a ton of fries). The cashier is super hot and friendly and the ladies that cook are great also. One of the guys that handles the BBQ is a short older guy who is super cool and friendly and always cooks my ribs and cuts them the way they ask. My only complaint is there is another guy that looks about 40 years old with really white hair and he can be rude. I mean super rude so if you go to get some BBQ chicken or Ribs make sure to talk with the shorter older guy and you cant miss. Dont forget to give em a couple bucks. They dont ask for it but they always appreciate it.The ribs by the way are BBQ's right there with a regular BBQ or marinate but they are cheat. Its $15.00 for a full slab of ribs right off the BBQ and it comes with Tortillas and Beans and RiceMatt

This is a wholesale butcher, so only large portions are available. They also close fairly early and aren't open Sundays.I got about 9lbs of Carne Asada from them for a large BBQ and it was excellent quality, taste, and price!

I stopped in here after I picked up a groupon for their shop. The man behind the counter was really nice and hooked it up. They have plenty of mouth watering meats in their cases. I took my 2 pack of wagyu burger patties home with me to cook em up for dinner later with my roomie.
Visit Restaurant Page"OMG OMG so happy to get introduced to this store by my boyfriend who has been a customer for a long time. He wanted to impress me with a fish taco night at his place and was irn need of tortillas and salsas. Since I am always up to check places that are new to me, I tagged along in his shopping pursuit. As soon as I entered I got immersed into a world of flavors and smells. Loved everything there, the fact that you can buy prepared food, the old school way to display the vegetables and fruits, the Mexicanity of it all. We got a very delicious and hot salsa verde that has lasted million tacos (not that many but quite many!), we got tortillas de nopal and corn tortillas, Modelo beer and those fantastic paletas with interesting flavors. Everyone was so friendly and chatty."
"Great butcher shop, only a few good butcher shops left in San Diego, they got what you need from pork chops to beef ribs to oxtails to ground beef. All at a reasonable price. You can't go wrong here. Meat is always good. Prompt service. Only street parking available."
"First time here and definitely not the last!! The Wise Ox has been on our list of places that we have been wanting to go to for awhile now because we love cooking and trying out new butcher shops. The shop itself is small but they have a large variety of options to pick from! After being out of town for awhile I was craving a good home cooked meal so we decided to go into this spot and decide what our star of the meal would be. The staff is super helpful and was able to help us make a decision after describing all of the different meats they had along with the pre marinated ones. We went with the Santa Maria tri tip which had been marinating for a day so it was perfect to cook that night. It was so good and we had plenty leftover for the second day as well and it was just as good! We will be heading here for our BBQing needs more often!"
"Wow the guy talking mad shit about past reviewers has a great personality and is very clever, not !! Check the dates of the past reviews smart ass . I came in here last week because I needed two onions and didn't want to stand in a long line at food 4 less just for that . So I said I'd give them a try and see if they treated their customers better . To my surprise I was greeted with friendly And helpful faces . The complete opposite of how I was treated 2 years ago here . I gotta say their chips and Guacamole are absolutely delicious . Best I've had from a Mexican market . When I came back today for more I was helped out by a lovely young lady . She answered all my questions and helped me pick out a good meat . We got to talking and she told me she and her family are the new owners and they've owned the place for a year now . Because I haven't been here in years I had no idea how awesome this place is . I plan on Shopping here weekly now that they ROCK !!"
"The BEST torta we have ever had! (And we have tried many places.) A very unassuming market that makes incredible homestyle Mexican food. A must-go every time we are in the area."
"Only store I found with high quality goat meat! Nice people - decent prices - amazing selection of North African spices and condiments. I'd go back."
"A meat lover's paradise. A great resource for meat lovers and home chefs. I love to smoke Iberico pork ribs from Spain and usually have to order by mail from a hi end meat provisioner in New York. So glad to find them locally at a very fair price. Their assortment of high end beef is the best I've seen in San Diego, and I've been everywhere. Mostly wagyu from Japan and Australia and a limited amount of prime meats. But a wide range of cuts from sirloin to brisket to tomahawks. It will be good when they bring in more prime cuts as they plan."
"Today, two employees at JE Exports provided a tour of their facility to 50 local high school students learning about the food truck industry. In addition to selling food to the public and serving as an import / export business, JE Exports provides services to a number of food trucks in San Diego County. While I can't comment on their food (though it looked like a great place to find products), I can say that the two employees that worked with our students today were professional, helpful, and really generous with their time and expertise. A lot of business is just about how you treat your customers. Today, these two employees earned five stars for going above and beyond their job and spending time to educate and inspire students who themselves are learning about how to be professionals in the food service industry."
"Always a crowd pleaser, short ribs and Tajaso marinated. Great on the BBQ. Congratulations on the new location"
"Love, love, love, the meats here!Move over Arby's, Sepulveda HAS THE MEATS!Recently popped in here to pick out a steak to be prepared next door at Juan Jasper. I'd been here a number of times so I knew I was in for a treat. The best steak I've ever cooked was from here. It was a beautifully marbled Brandt beef ribeye! Yes, you're absolutely going to pay more than you would at Vons, but the quality of the meat will be astoundingly superior. Like many, you might not be able to afford to eat this good on a daily basis, however, it's definitely worth treating yourself now and again. And to be completely transparent, when you buy meat of this quality, a little goes a long way. You'll be surprised how satiated you'll feel after eating such rich and succulent proteins.I was a huuuuuge fan of their Korean Pork belly so I hope they bring that back! They've got lots and lots to choose from so come on in and check them out!"
"Located in the parking lot of Valley Farm Market is The Shack which serves breakfast, lunch, and a variety of drinks. I was here for the bbq. I ordered a rack of ribs with fries. Fries were crispy and seasoned. Flavor was good. Ribs were tender and juicy. They were cooked just enough where the ribs were not bloody. I liked the light smoky flavor and I loved the dry rub which had a bit of sweetness from the brown sugar.Last time I visited Valley Farm Market they had their bbq in shrink wrapped trays in a warmer. Now the bbq is fresher and juicier. I like the shady seating area they added. Staff was very nice and answered my questions about the bbq. https://www.hungryones.com/2022/04/valley-farm-market/Inside the market is an excellent soda selection. I picked a root beer."
"My husband loves this store, we came today to purchase and assortment of sausages. We can never decide on which to choose: bourbon sausage, hot Italian, sweet Italian, are our favorites so we got all three. They have a great selection of steaks, chops, ground beef, and so much more.2024(18)"
"Came in here to browse while I was waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant, and this is a pretty cool little neighborhood meat market! The grocery side is pricey but well-curated, but this place is all about the fresh meat! The meat counters are amazing and stretch the entire length of the left side of the store. You'll find premium meat (beef, chicken, lamb, pork) including some marinated and some plain. This is the place if you're having a fancy pants cookout or plan to grill. The gourmet food is the type of stuff people who'd buy a $48 steak to grill at home would also purchase, and I was surprised at how nice the wine section is. The person who stocks this market really understands their clientele! The employees were friendly and offered help multiple times, and they were fine when we told them we were just browsing."
"This is my little spot when I want some pretty cheap food and don't want to deal with the crowds. This is your typical Mexican market with a little bit of this and that. I usually come here for carne asada, tortillas, produce and Mexican ice creams. A very small location but it's packed with a bunch of gems!"
"Whenever you are having a carne asada, this is the spot to get your meat. Marinated in the spot and they have such warming attitude."
