"I read the reviews and heard good things so I was excited to try it. Didn't realize it wasn't a restaurant well not a sit down restaurant. They sell meats and sides and fresh sourdough. They do a lot of catering and special events. They do have sandwiches and meat box specials. I tried the tri tip and the pulled pork and both were delicious but I found the tri tip a bit salty but duh put it on some sourdough and BAM add some fresh roasted garlic (oh heck yeah) I kept eating. The people were friendly and it's cute inside with some hats for sale and some horns hanging. I'm going to have them cater an event in a few weeks and they were willing to work with me on the menu and make adjustments if I wanted. I'd check em out. It's nice you can order a meat box with a couple sides and essentially try before you go crazy in here."

"Da Real Deal Black Seed OilI shop here for five reasons: 1) black seed oil, 2) Jerusalem olive oil, 3) whole coffee beans, 4) teas and 5) hard to find spices.Although this market offers a lot more to a variety of culture and diaspora cultures. The black seed oil is pressed every single day. It can't get more organic than that. Jerusalem olive oil is only sold here. Can't get more original than that. It's an all purpose oil in my home. I dip my bread in it with French sea salt. My hair is luxurious. My skin is radiant. My make-up is removed easily. And my DIY body scrub is buttery soft.No need to comment on customer service because every single customer is "the family."Prices are incredibly fairHey you..reading this...you will be given immeasurably more than you can imagine."

"Main St. in El Cajon has become a hub for Mediterranean/Middle Eastern grocery stores and another one has opened, Big Bear Produce. What an adorable name, right? They even have a bear on their big, bright signage. For me what sets them apart is that they're a full-service market compressed in a smaller, easily navigable space. They have a hot food section offering beef and chicken shawarma and a handful of other dishes like lentil soup, rice and potatoes. They make their own bread and baklava (they're pretty good!) and also have a meat section with halal/non-halal meats. The staff here has always been friendly and greet me with a smile when I walk in. On one occasion when I picked up some beef shawarma, the lovely lady threw in two complimentary sammoon bread with my order! How sweet of her :)btw they cut their shawarma really thick here...and it's always been very moist and nicely seasoned. Delish!Produce is fresh and reasonably priced. It may be limited at times, but they always have a decent selection.It's my new favorite Mediterranean grocery store."

"I love the little upgrades they've been adding throughout the years. It's starting to look real nice! The primary reason I go here is for their tortillas. They have a ice box by the meat dept. Full of hot corn tortillas. And if you're looking for flour tortillas, they too are hot and fresh in the bakery. The prices are always cheaper here but it's because you should anticipate to eat the stuff TODAY. Especially the meat and fruit. Which is okay with me. I've been saving money buying like that. Buying the meals of the day and I've never gotten sick. I recommend their tacos at their food stand. And the chicharrones are yummy too. Never stale. I'll also note: some friends of mine who are restaurant owners buy their meat and tortillas here. ;-) keep that in mind."

"Man I love this placeWe've been going here for years and they never disappoint!They've got the best guacamole! They also have great salsas. And don't forget their carne asada. We pick up a few pounds every other week or so and throw so great BBQs with their meat. If you're feeling lazier, they BBQ a mean Tri-Tip outside the store. "Was hungry and in the area and saw 1.00 tacos so that got me. I walked in and noticed a plethora of things to order so I decided to try a little bit of everything. I got the the smoked bbq ribs, a chicken tamale, and a few tacos. The food here was bomb and just what I would expect from a hole in the wall. The tamales are wrapped in banana leaves and if u don't know gives the masa a unique taste that is delicious. The bbq ribs were spot on and super juicy and smoky. The tacos were ok not the best but definitely worth a dollar. If imever back in the neighborhood I'll el back forrrrr surrreeee"

"If you've been to any of the more sizable grocery stores in Tijuana you'll know the name, SuKarne. Their packaged carne arrachera is absolutely insane, but not available in the United States. Unless you carry it across the border, which apparently is okay since it's a packaged meat product, you'll have to make the trip south for this specific treat. The good news is that this location does carry some great cuts that can easily be marinated to replicate their south-of-the-border greatness, but you will not find the ready to go packages. In my eyes, it just makes the meat that much more delicious when you get it!"

"OMG OMG so happy to get introduced to this store by my boyfriend who has been a customer for a long time. He wanted to impress me with a fish taco night at his place and was irn need of tortillas and salsas. Since I am always up to check places that are new to me, I tagged along in his shopping pursuit. As soon as I entered I got immersed into a world of flavors and smells. Loved everything there, the fact that you can buy prepared food, the old school way to display the vegetables and fruits, the Mexicanity of it all. We got a very delicious and hot salsa verde that has lasted million tacos (not that many but quite many!), we got tortillas de nopal and corn tortillas, Modelo beer and those fantastic paletas with interesting flavors. Everyone was so friendly and chatty."

"First time here and definitely not the last!! The Wise Ox has been on our list of places that we have been wanting to go to for awhile now because we love cooking and trying out new butcher shops. The shop itself is small but they have a large variety of options to pick from! After being out of town for awhile I was craving a good home cooked meal so we decided to go into this spot and decide what our star of the meal would be. The staff is super helpful and was able to help us make a decision after describing all of the different meats they had along with the pre marinated ones. We went with the Santa Maria tri tip which had been marinating for a day so it was perfect to cook that night. It was so good and we had plenty leftover for the second day as well and it was just as good! We will be heading here for our BBQing needs more often!"

I came in here last week because I needed two onions and didn't want to stand in a long line at food 4 less just for that . So I said I'd give them a try and see if they treated their customers better . To my surprise I was greeted with friendly And helpful faces . So glad to find them locally at a very fair price. Their assortment of high end beef is the best I've seen in San Diego, and I've been everywhere. Mostly wagyu from Japan and Australia and a limited amount of prime meats. But a wide range of cuts from sirloin to brisket to tomahawks. It will be good when they bring in more prime cuts as they plan."

The grocery side is pricey but well-curated, but this place is all about the fresh meat! The meat counters are amazing and stretch the entire length of the left side of the store. You'll find premium meat (beef, chicken, lamb, pork) including some marinated and some plain. This is the place if you're having a fancy pants cookout or plan to grill. The gourmet food is the type of stuff people who'd buy a $48 steak to grill at home would also purchase, and I was surprised at how nice the wine section is. The person who stocks this market really understands their clientele! The employees were friendly and offered help multiple times, and they were fine when we told them we were just browsing."
