Emmett T. "The suite at Liberty Public Market that used to house Stuffed! is now the brick and mortar location of the American Flavors food truck. They have a similar but slightly smaller menu than what the truck offers. Burgers, hot dogs, and hot sandwiches (chicken, pulled pork) were the featured items. All of the hamburgers are served with two all-natural Angus beef patties and two slices of cheese so you are getting a lot of meat and paying a commensurate price. I picked the Pulled Pork sandwich with a side of seasoned waffle fries ($12). The smoked pulled pork came with a couple of pieces of bacon topped with a BBQ sauce, pickles, and a house-made slaw. The sauce was more sweet than tangy, but it complemented the moist pork very well. The waffle fries were addictive as I could have eaten a large basket of them. For quality and value, I gave this experience a 3.5 star rating."

They are longer than the bun. They have the usual toppings available. Fried onions or a bacon wrap are extra. Two unusual toppings are crunched chips and a spicy crunchy chip to give it a little extra bite.Staff is very friendly. Since it is located outside the Home Depot, their is plenty of parking. It is a nice addition to the local food scene."

One of the reviews won me over by saying it was the best burgers like how it was in the 90s. We gave it a try.Absolutely loved it. I got #6 double bacon combo ($11.95)It came with two thin pattie's, tomato, lettuce, onion, bacon, cheese, in house sauce and a sesame bun. So good! The fries remind me of McDonald and I love the shoe string fries lightly salted.I'm a sucker for corn dogs especially Wienerschnitzel and I saw 3 for $4.95. Had to try it and I'm liking it more than other places. Taste just the same with the batter and the hot dog was a size bigger! Oh and you must try the banana shake. Delicious. You taste actual chunks of banana. It was fresh, creamy and satisfied the sweet teeth. They sell croissants, Kebob sandwiches, cheese dog, pitas, and unique items like peanut butter bacon cheeseburger! There's an area for outdoor seating under the patio."

Leslie B. "I used to frequent Lefty's about 20 years ago. At that time, I had recently moved to San Diego from the Chicago area and I was really missing my Italian Beef sandwiches and Chicago style pizza. Back then, there was only one Lefty's location, and you had to stalk parties leaving their tables in order to get a seat. Anyway, flash forward to last weekend, a group of friends and I met for dinner at Lefty's to wish farewell to a friend who was moving away. The days of the crowded, popular Lefty's are apparently over, but unfortunately, the days of the amazing Chicago-style food were also over. Anyway, when I arrived, my friend was saving a picnic table in the back garden area. I actually really liked the garden area. It is full of murals, great music on the speakers, and some family friendly lawn games. This is something that the Lefty's 20 years ago did not have that is a great improvement. Our other friends arrived a bit later and came with a cake to share. Lefty's is very open to parties, larger groups, and special events, as I noted that there were two other parties on the patio. They even brought us extra plates and forks to share the cake.It is not really a wine place, but they actually had several wines to choose from. I heard that the wines change regularly, so the staff member took them all out for me so I could choose. I chose a lovely glass of Pinot Noir. I also ordered the Italian Beef sandwich with hot peppers, and an order of mozzarella sticks to share with my friends. Unfortunately, the mozzarella sticks were just not cooked enough... no golden brown exterior, and they were not gooey and cheesy.. and not flavorful. The Italian Beef sandwich was a huge disappointment. When I think of Italian Beef, it is oozing with flavor and spices. This was a super boring sandwich that had no flavor until I added the juice. Even with that, the flavor was minimal. I did not try the Chicago pizza this time. A few of my friends ordered slices of deep dish, but it just was not very deep and did not look like Chicago deep dish at all to me.All in all, Lefty's had a lovely atmosphere in the heart of Mission Hills, but the food was a disappointment. With the growing number of Chicago food establishments in San Diego, I probably won't return."

Excuse my pictures of the food as they are plain because I don't do veggies but they have caramelized onions, jalapenos, tomatoes & all the other typical toppings for hot dogs & burgers available. The couple who own it are super friendly and awesome. It's still new-ish but the food is pretty good. They are usually there on Fridays from 6pm-10pm. They take cash or Venmo. Not really knowing what to get I'm thinking you can't go wrong with the Supreme. Supreme has pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onion, bell pepper, and olives. I did however asked that half of the pizza doesn't have pepperoni as that's a bit spicy for the little one. I also ordered their 12 pieces of boneless wings and garlic bread. Pizza, well it really took a long time to actually get the pizza. I guess I came on a busy night. During waiting we needed to use the restroom. Come to find out that they're also owners of the comic store. Cool. Yay for bathrooms. Alright so once we got home the pizza was piping hot while the wings and bread was room temperature. I wish they cooked those last since it took awhile to get our pizza. I did see our bread and wings sitting there for a bit while just waiting in the store. Sooooo?? Well the pizza was good but it was lacking sauce, it was a bit dry for my taste and felt it needed more tomato sauce. I did however really really like the boneless wings. It was cool they gave us a variety of sauces to try. The garlic bread was just alright nothing exciting. I had to toast it as mentioned it was sitting out for a bit. Overall although not to my taste but I can see why people like the pizza here. Wings and wings is what I'm going to keep getting next time. :) Yum!"

They are known for their malt shakes (prepared the traditional way with their retro mixer) and classic burgers. Otherwise, they also serve Cheesesteaks, Doggers, and Sandwiches. I had the Buffalo Burger special with fries. This came on a brioche bun with a 1/4lb patty, lettuce, tomato, and onions. The burger was massive! It probably could have used better seasoning but their homemade ranch offered in a sauce container on the side was a save. The fries were a little overdone to my liking, but big and plentiful. On a bigger note, that toasted up brioche bun was intense; my jaw was working over time trying to get through that burger! The guys running the operation are true East Coasters. They are incredibly down to earth and, what seems foreign now, are all about fostering community bonds. A true anomaly in that they are one of the few honest businesses left. That in and of itself deserves recognition and praise! Nothing but positive vibes from this upstanding business!"

The Pastrami Stand now rotates across different farmers markets and breweries in the local area. On Sundays, they have a canopy set up at the La Jolla Open Aire Farmer's Market. The menu featured two pastrami sandwiches, five types of hot dogs, two styles of pastrami sold by the pound, and matzo ball soup when in season between December and April. There was also a special of the day that was a Chicago style hot dog.The Pastrami Dip was made up of smoked pastrami, yellow mustard, and pickles on a roll that was single dipped in au jus. The Number 18 consisted of classic NY style pastrami piled high on rye bread and topped with deli mustard. Of these two sandwiches, I picked the former. The bread and meat quality were both very good, however the portion size of six inches(?) did not justify a $15 price tag hence a four star rating."

The smells draw you in, and you're immediately greeted by the chefs. I go all out and order the jumbo "ultimate gourmet". They work at a great pace to feed hungry customers but take their time enough to ensure their level of quality is met. Great group of guys.Spreading the cream cheese on both sides of the bun evenly, slicing the dog down the middle in order to cook and create a nice crisp sear to the dog. Professionals!... I didn't pay attention to the rest of the assembly, but next thing I know, I'm staring at a delicious hotdog. Pictures don't do justice. When I found out about Brenda's tamales special, it was a must try location during my trip to SoCal. Stumbling upon her restaurant is equivalent to finding a needle in a haystack behind a hole in the wall. Long shot, but worth every bit of satisfactory feeling. This is exactly what her food will do for you.Her menu was about 15 items total. For a homecooked list of item served to the public, this was good enough to keep her specialty strong and fast moving enough to satisfy one's hunger. Of course I chose the Pork and Beef tamales to gauge the taste. The beef tamales was great. The style of prepping the beef was close to being barbacoa. The meat sliced away with the masa perfectly with a spoonful of balanced flavor proportion. The pork tamales caught me by surprised. The presentation is closer to Chicken Verde, and similar to the beef, it pulls away perfectly with the spoon. Neither too salty or bland, and melts away on your palates full of flavors. The preparation of the masa was the icing to this non-dessert dish. The corn mixed dough was perfectly mashed, leaving a smooth and soft texture to every bite. The masa alone was enough to satisfy my crave.I experienced the look on my friend's face as they take their bite of the Elote. The presentation alone gives a vibe of great taste, and the facial expression confirms the quality. Can't deny that I did not regret trying one.The level of service that Brenda offers with every plate is beyond exceptional. Her gestures are as warm as her meals. It is obvious to see that each dish is made with love which offers the comfort feeling of a homecooked meal. Definitely a spot to must try regardless of your timeframe availability!!"

With views of the downtown skyline and mountains in the distance, as well as huge naval ships and other boats entering and leaving port, there is no better place with a view to grab a beer and a bite in all of San Diego. Fathom has a stellar selection of craft beers on tap and the highest quality specialty casual foods (try their explodo dog or lumpia and thank me later). Other than being busy, and maybe the fact that you have to use the public bathrooms on shore (which while safe and clean, don't always have doors for privacy in the ladies, lol)...Fathom kicks ass. The owner is passionate about what he does and it shows. Dennis gives back to the community and his staff never disappoints. Fathom provides a consistently cool vibe without attitude or pretension, and it's easy to meet people if sharing an outdoor table. Thankfully Zzang offers some delicious Korean style corn dogs(or should I say rice dogs?), that are hot, crispy, filling, and flavorful, for as low as $2.75! It's been a while since I've hung out for a late night bender in Ocean Beach and noticed the cart when it was around the corner from Winstons Beach Club. This time it was in the parking lot across from The Joint and a few paces from The Harp and Pacific Shores. As the only hot dog cart in the area, it's a no-brainer. There aren't any alternatives along the sidewalk, other than maybe driving to the Jack in the Box down the boulevard or track down a taco shop nearby, but that's still too far for the usual hungry zombie shuffling down the sidewalk or for bar patrons that just closed their tab out.My Costco sensibilities say I shouldn't pay more than a buck-fifty for a plain hot dog, which includes a soda pop. There are a variety of specialty dogs, sausages, and vegan tofu dogs on the menu, with pricing between $2.25 for a plain turkey dog and $4.75 for a loaded dog. Unfortunately, the bacon-wrapped TJ danger dog is not on the menu. There is also an assortment of condiments to fully dress it up. Thumbs up for the Sriracha. The barbecue and hot sauces in unlabeled squeeze bottles are also good to try. Soft drinks to wash it all down are sold separately for $1.I had the OB Special. It was meh; not great. My gripe is that it was served up cold. I don't think any part of it was even warmed up. I've had dirty water dogs and grilled dogs, where they've been cooked and served hot. Maybe the propane tank was empty or they forgot to light it, but I thank my iron stomach for not suffering any illnesses. The relative easy to find location, late night snacking hours, and good customer service are all winners, but getting a Cold Diggity Dog is such a bummer."

Wifey got a Sand Dune and our Mini-Meez got their cheeseburger kids meals. This time I tried their Korean bbq steak sandwich. This craveable snack is hefty and could be a messy knife-and-fork meal for some to share. The bread held up well against the cheesy melty peppers and onions in the to-go box.
