Craig W. "In general, I'm not a big food truck fan because they are almost all too expensive and take too long to cook the food. But if alcohol is being served somewhere and food trucks are my only option, well then, that's where I will get my grub.So the pretzel here is outrageously good. It is served hot and, I mean, super hot. It comes with some grainy mustard on the side and also a creamy tomato-basil type dip. I don't usually go for tomato dips but this one was terrific. We also tried the chicken "schnitzel" sandwich. Sounds pretty German, right? Well, it's a breaded chicken sandwich. It was very fresh and tasted good but it didn't rock my world or make me feel like I was in the Old Country. But it was good.Definitely get that pretzel."

Jack M. "I ran into this Kebabery at the Helix Brewery and ordered a lamb and beef Döner kebab with a terrific blend of authentic Turkish spices. I say authentic because the spice mix actually comes all the way from Turkey. The Döner kebab was all about those Turkish flavors. They aggressive in a very good way and packed a touch of heat as well. The heat was subtle but definitely was felt on the palate. As a result, the lamb and beef were very flavorful. The Döner kebab also came with a familiar yogurt sauce or a Tzatziki which not only tasted great but also complimented the Turkish spices and added as a gentle cooling affect. Although the beef and lamb tasted good, I did feel they both could of been a little more tender. The Döner kebab also came with fresh lettuce and red onions. They served it on a toasted flat bread that had great flavor and texture. The gent who runs the Local Kebab is very friendly and passionate about his trade and for good reason too. You can find the Local Kebab at a variety of local breweries so I suggest you check out the L. Kebab's website."

Jack M. "Good food trucks are a dime a dozen these days, and luckily for me, this was one of the good ones. I ordered fish taco and a shrimp taco as well, both were battered and fried. They also offer grilled fish tacos, I learned later, which I would of had instead, but they are not on the menu. Both tacos came served with a light white mayo based dressing and with fresh slaw and a scattering of diced tomatoes and onions (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mariscos-oceanos-san-diego?select=MU7ZUhucQjbQKSYsrq_E_g#xOJqwrG36IiQ_a52y4_FPA). The fish taco was great. The batter with crispy and the fish inside was succulent and tender. The Shrimp taco was good too, but the batter could of used just a wee bit of more time in the fryer to crisp it up. The shrimp inside were well cooked and tender (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mariscos-oceanos-san-diego?select=MU7ZUhucQjbQKSYsrq_E_g#8mzgb5f8fiYoreKoMque5w). The corn tortillas were good, but I would recommend, if they can afford it, to double up on the tortillas because the tacos had a tendency to break under the weight of ingredients, especially the sauce. The offer a cup of fish broth with every meal, which I did not partake, and they have seating available next the truck. They are located as of 1/3/15 in the Miller's Market Parking lot. Nice people too....on the upper end of 3.5 stars.."

Alex J. "I was SHOOK at how delicious this place actually is.As someone with Lebanese/Syrian/Armenian roots, I have high standards when it comes to any middle eastern food and restaurant. Most places skimp on the flavor and spices to appease the "western" palette, while others are lazy in the process of crafting the foods with the traditions that are needed to uphold quality.Shawarma Guys not only keeps that flavor profile and preparation standards, but they also elevate it to a whole new level for Californians and foodies in general.Staff was super friendly and offered great recommendations. First up - the Wagyu Shawarma Egg Rolls.WOW. WOW. WOW.The egg rolls are SO crunchy and crispy, and great sized. They are FILLED with juicy, crispy, soft flavorful shawarma meat, plenty of cheese, and the toum is perfection. Seriously, I could eat these every day.Now for the California shawarma. I had no idea this thing was the size of a baby burrito, honestly I couldn't even finish it after eating the egg rolls, but man it was so damn good I would've finished it if I wasn't on my way to an event. This was filled with chicken shawarma, fries, lettuce, pickles, rice, garlic paste, tortila. Although it was excellent, I think it would be even more excellent with the beef shawarma. The chicken was soft and flavorful, the rice was amazing, crispy fries, fresh veggies, crunchy pickles, and again that amazing garlic paste. Seriously, this place is a must on anyone's SD food visits."

My visit was back in July, so when I got my food, I had to keep shooing the flies away.I ordered the beef wrap and chicken plate. I also got their lemonade energy drink, which was refreshing and had cute balls of fruit floating on top.I like their fusion take of shawarma! They add a lot of veggies and give you sides of jalapenos, ketchup, etc. I honestly don't eat a lot of veggies, but this version had a nice balance of meat to veggie ratio. The owner was very nice and checked up on me and told me a little bit of his background of how he got started- worth a stop if you're in the area!"

He even emailed me the morning of the event to tell me rain was sadly in the forecast and he would be coming prepared just in case. I ordered appetizers and 4 different kinds of pizza from JT - he set up tables in the backyard and had everything ready for the party. After work, I stopped by to check them out and ordered a couple of fish tacos a la plancha or griddles over a hot flat service. The were pricey at $5 a piece out of the norm that I usually pay at the rest of the food trucks at $3.50. There price is no reflected on the menu. The fried fish tacos are well priced at $1.70 each. The tacos came with a good amount of well seasoned and griddle fish. The fish was piping hot and succulent and each taco came with two individual portions. I like the golden brown sear they applied to the fish. Both tacos came handsomely filled with shredded cabbage, tomatoes, chopped onions, and a touch of cilantro. I asked for no mayo but definitely put some of their tasty creamy chipotle sauce that's available in one of those large plastic squeeze bottles. They double wrap each taco with warm corn tortillas which I truly appreciated. Speaking of warm, the hospitality at this food truck is quite warm as well and the ladies have a good sense of humor as well."

They put a good amount of it on each taco. The guacamole sauce was good and so were the rest of the ingredients that came on the tacos, including the salsa. If they can find a way to keep the meat juicy that would be just grand. Emmett T. "The suite at Liberty Public Market that used to house Stuffed! is now the brick and mortar location of the American Flavors food truck. They have a similar but slightly smaller menu than what the truck offers. Burgers, hot dogs, and hot sandwiches (chicken, pulled pork) were the featured items. All of the hamburgers are served with two all-natural Angus beef patties and two slices of cheese so you are getting a lot of meat and paying a commensurate price. I picked the Pulled Pork sandwich with a side of seasoned waffle fries ($12). The smoked pulled pork came with a couple of pieces of bacon topped with a BBQ sauce, pickles, and a house-made slaw. The sauce was more sweet than tangy, but it complemented the moist pork very well. The waffle fries were addictive as I could have eaten a large basket of them. For quality and value, I gave this experience a 3.5 star rating."

I ran into Herb'n Donuts at the Quartyard in East Village San Diego and I had already eaten but was looking forward to something sweet so I ordered the gluten free doughnut holes with a side of sage and passion fruit sauce. The order came with six holes with a nice amount of granulated sugar and a touch of cinnamon. As gluten free products go, these doughnut were quite successful. They were slightly doughy, which I don't mind at all, but for the moist part they were soft, moist, and fluffy pillows of goodness. They came with a great light brown color on the outside and with a golden light color on the inside. Passion fruit and sage sauce was the perfect partner for these little pillows of heaven. The sauce was full flavored passion fruit with overtones of sage. I liked that it was not overly sweet and offered a good creamy viscosity that coated the doughnut holes well after dipping. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that even gluten free products can be this good."

I was intrigued when I saw they put beans in the tacos, which I've only seen before deep in Tijuana and other places in Mexico. I ordered 2 tacos ($3.50ish each) and a consomé. I was definitely impressed with the portion of the tacos. They come with a very generous amount of meat, yes meat not any fatty pieces trying to be passed off as meat. They come with two tortillas each, that are smothered in the birria consomé but are still crunchy. For the pairings you get radish, cebolla curtida with habanero, limes. As for the hot sauce don't be deceived by the fact it's a small container. It is VERY spicy and just takes the taco flavor to the next level. As for the consomé it is also bigger than most places, extremely flavorful. Now for my mistake, I assumed all tacos came with the beans. Make sure you add them to yours and you'll never go back to eating birria tacos without them. My entire family and I will continue coming back, this is our new birria place."

The Shrimp Aguachile, though slightly on the pricier side, guarantees a clean and fresh taste without being overly salty. The OG Fish Taco consistently delivers a flavorful, crispy experience, complemented by generous vegetables, toppings, and sauces that add texture and enhance the overall deliciousness of the crispy fish. For those looking to dine in, they offer a couple of tables. The freshness of their condiments and daily-prepared ingredients stands out. They are quite generous with toppings and add-ons, allowing diners to customize their orders.During busy hours, especially around noon, it's reasonable to expect a wait time, given the modest team running the food truck. For all the raving she did, I was nothing short of disappointed. The fried fish taco, Ensenada Pescado, was $2.50ish and standard street taco size. The fish itself was nowhere to be found, heavily coated in batter. While the portion size of the Taco Coronado (Grilled Tilapia) was generous, it was costly at ~$6. The tilapia was also bland and fishy. My friend paid $19 for the Surf and Turf fries (Carne asada & Shrimp). $19 and the shrimp was burnt! There are SO many better, fresh, and CHEAPER fish taco spots in San Diego. Spencer wanted Filipino food to be recognized for more than just pancit and lumpia. Taking a traditional Filipino staple he added different fillings other than the regular ground pork you'd find at every Filipino party. He and his mom have perfected the frying and wrapping of their lumpia wrappers so no matter what you get, it is crisp and not greasy. What gets stuffed into those wrappers borders on ingenious to WTH how did you come up with that? Take for instance his signature Mac N Cheese lumpia. Yeah I said "huh" also. He explained it was his marriage of Filipino and Soul Food. It must be good because it sells out and I was unfortunate not to try any on this visit. He has literally several dozen different takes that he rotates. I did get to try the following:-traditional-nice savory filling-pork belly- my favorite -SPAM musubi-the rice comes out a little crispy so it loses a bit of the sense of a musubi but the flavors are goodToo note, I had to take out which meant about 30 minutes to finally sit down to eat after pick up. The wrappers were still crisp which was pretty nice. This place is totally chill to hang out as well. It's got a sense of home with a lot of family pictures, comfy couches, a dining table, and even an arcade game. The music playing was old school like ZAPP which was my groove lol. I think the best way to enjoy Lia's Lumpia would be with family and friends who are looking for an easy night. Put in an order, I suggest not all at once because these things are hefty, along with some beers, chat the night away and order more as you go along.
