"A small neighborhood bar close to the Home Depot I frequent. One of those spots that'll never make it past 3 stars. If you come here you'll know..Rough on the edges somewhat but decent once you're inside. Kinda of a blue collar type place that attracts all types and colorful neighborhood folks. I even run into the guy I know from my gym, a hard working construction guy. Jukebox always going. A little bit country, reggae, rock n roll-but the last time there was Jazz on, other times 70's funk, 80's rock. No hip-hop yet. However, too loud on the jukebox. It's ok, though, I've been to many ear-splitting concerts back in my earlier days. When the music stops it gets quiet and awkward at times. Without even trying to eavesdrop you'll hear about women, drugs, or drinking or other vices in the conversations. Yes, the good things in life I must say. Sorrow drowning at its best.First time in was at least 15 years ago when I was searching for a barmaid that I went to high school with. Never did find her. She wrote in my yearbook and for some reason thought I was cute, a missed opportunity for me. She was sugar sweet too.. But you know the owner is smart because he hires only friendly attractive ladies. I remember this problem when I was bartending, it was hard to get a job as a dude at many bars. Well, over 90% of customers are men and they want some T and A to look at. Something I could not provide.. I found work at Fannie's, The Vortex, and the Palomar card room. Places nobody wanted to work at obviously.Oh yeah back to the bar- there are 2 pool tables here that seem to never have any players. Can't figure that one out. Although I rarely stop in, I'm somehow recognizable and treated as a regular. Some people come in and sound like they can't even talk. Maybe they're drunk already, not sure. The barmaids seem to have no problem at all, they speak their language. Like I said earlier, all walks of life and colorful fellows."
"Where has this place been all my life? I love any dive bar, but this one has big outdoor space, a sea view, friendly service, happy crowd and lots of adorable neighborhood dogs which for me is a huge plus. I didn't have time to sample the Copper Kings Burgers and fries grilling outside but they smell and look delicious -- like what In-n-out is supposed to be. Parking is a challenge but I got insanely lucky as someone was pulling out of a prime space just as I arrived. The house beer on tap (Shanty Blonde) is just ok, but they have others and it's really not the point. Best vibe ever. Can't wait to come back!"
"Though I have no pictures to post with this review, I have been here a few times while in town visiting family and friends. Always a fun spot with cool vibes, loved and appreciated for good drink prices and always fun customer service. Highly recommended for a good time."
"My husband and I have been here several times for a quick dinner and drinks. Depending on how busy they are, the service can vary. All of the staff we've encountered are very friendly and helpful, but I think that they can benefit from having more front house staff. The food menu is very well priced and I also encourage people to check the specials menu. Portion size is also fairly large considering the prices, which is a great bonus! The crowd here is very casual and sometimes the live music/karaoke can be fun to watch. There's a good selection of beers on tap and a full bar available. Inside and outside seating options are great for small or large groups."
"Looking for a good time? Well, unless you are a Bears or Blackhawks fan this season (sorry, couldn't resist!), you'll probably find it here at the new and improved Rosie O'Grady's.Oh, I guess I should have included vegans, too, because as far as I can tell, they serve no vegan food here. You'll have to go to BLAH, instead.Decent beer selection, though. I got a full-bodied stout. I also got a couple of Three Olives martinis that were featured courtesy of the Sinatra cover band that plays here monthly. I can't suggest checking out their website for the complete music schedule because websites don't seem to be high on Rosie's priority list.Because this is a Normal Heights bar, the patrons are pretty cool. For God's sake, don't wear Packers, Vikings, Blues, or Red Wings gear here. This is a Chicago sports bar. Have pity.Karaoke every Wednesday."
"directly off Morena Blvd is a dive bar that has elevated in class over the years.. pandemic did this place some good and allowed them to expand into another patio area which keeps it from feeling too crowded. There's a solid menu of American food like burgers, melts, and chicken teddies, plus a good brunch menu on weekends!I got the spicy Reed burger which has a "jalapeño popper patty" on top of the beef patty - guys, it's a deep fried jalapeño and cream cheese mixture... it was amazing! it added a bit of crunch, cream, and spice. It really elevated the flavor (and my cholesterol lol). Thankfully I could swap the fries for a salad and that made me feel less guilty for eating the burger.Stop by for a good beer selection, strong drinks, and really good food!"
"Theres nothing like a good dive bar and you can't possibly do much better than the Instant Replay. I've been a semi-regular at this Rancho Bernardo place for decades and it whenever it changes (even incrementally) the more it remains the same. New owners Pete and Dave took over a few years ago and added credit cards and some new TV's. Those are big changes in a place that hasn't changed much over the years. It's impossible to go to the IR not see people you know. It's also impossible to go to the IR and not have a good time. People are friendly, they have pool tables, obviously they have booze. How can all those things not be fun? Please note Instant Replay doesn't serve food, but what the hell, there's pizza and Thai nearby. Sadly, the former drive-thru Taco Bell diagonally across the shopping center is now a Starbucks, (so no more late night fake Mexican food to help you sober up and drive home safely) but if you play your cards right the pizza place might deliver your pie to the IR. (Just ask for Joey.) Most recent visit 9/25/21. Jannette took great care of us. Three Pacifico's for me, three Coors Lights for Scott. Watched Giancarlo Stanton bang a grand slam for my Yankees against the Red Sox. First place baby! It was another chill visit, the latest in a very long line of chill visits, to this classic gem -- A truly timeless watering hole in RB. If you come in, please say hi. Thanks, IR. I love you."
"Okay, the wings here are bomb!I have been here a few times before but just to drink. My coworkers were raving about their wings, saying that they were the best in SD & I had to go back to try.We went on a Friday night & it was popping! I have never seen it like this but apparently this is a great dive bar to go to watch sport games & the Aztecs were on. They have tables all throughout & 2 couple of pool tables in the back.Customer service was friendly & service was quick. Unfortunately, they did forget a couple of dishes but we opted to just cancel it. The food surprisingly is really good for a dive bar! They even serve steak.Tom Cat Signature Spicy Wings: So good! Crispy & juicy.Cha Cha Wings: My fav! They described this as a spicy, peanut buttery sauce & I was intrigued. It def tastes way better than it sounds. Loads of flavor!Pastrami Sandwich: Thinly sliced on a buttery, crispy bun, yum."
"Live wire is my neighborhood dive bar that I have been to a few times since living in San Diego. Its dark interior makes it look mysterious from the outside, but once you are in, I have experienced nothing but friendly vibes from the bartenders and people patronizing this spot. This is a no frills spot with a decent amount of seating and a pool table in the back. They also have a virtual jukebox too. You can't go wrong with their $5 pints of draft local beer, which is probably the reason why I like coming here. No food is served here, but it's conveniently located next to Luigi's next door which has great pizza and other bites. Glad that this spot survived the pandemic as it is an establishment in the neighborhood!"
"CASH ONLY.It's a restaurant and it's a bar but you want to come for the bar. Yes, it's divey but in the best possible way. There's Christmas lights up in the middle of July and the music is loud and rowdy and there are some absolute characters in the bar. The bartenders are super laid back and friendly. The drink prices are as low as the food prices. Two full dinners cost less than 20 bucks. The clam chowder was terrific and the baby back ribs were really good. The burger? Edible but nothing special. I can't recommend it, sorry. If you want food, you order in the restaurant section, take a number, and they'll bring you your food, even tothe bar. And, you'd never guess it, but the restaurant area is family friendly. Kids are absolutely allowed. This place has been a local landmark forever and it's going to be sad to see it go. No, the food is not amazing but that's not the point. This place has real character. You're almost guaranteed to have fun here (in the bar; the restaurant section was very quiet)."
"Meth.. not even once unless your a regular at Sideways Bar that is. The clientele at this Jewel of El Cajon consists mainly of strung-out meth users, failed rehab junkies, and wife beaters."
"Oh me, oh my... what a local bar this is.I have been to many a bar, but this is especially dark... no windows...The bar tender, Tara, is immediately attentive. If I glance at her, she comes to ask me, "How are you doing?"Good beer, full bar, pool tables and sports! What else could we hope for!?"

If you were to look up "local dive bar" in a dictionary, not that anybody uses those anymore, I wouldn't be surprised if you found a picture of this place. it is just sheer happenstance that I found this place. I had just left a nearby retailer and was cutting through the parking lot headed back out to the street when I rolled up on "Grover's Tavern." The door was open and I could see the bartender and one patron as I rolled by. It looked inviting, so why not, right? I felt I owed it to Yelp Nation to give it a try. There were actually four people sitting at the bar when I strolled in. You know you are in a local dive bar when you walk in to find "Malcolm In The Middle" playing on three TV's.Nothing fancy and not a lot of fanfare. Just cold, relatively inexpensive beer and a friendly bartender. A large frosty domestic will run you less than four bucks. The bartender even offered up some Taki's chips from her personal stash. Now that's local.

Sat outside. Dog friendly. Nice turf for my pooch to lay on. Wine list is limited but the red blend was decent for the price. Bouncers did good job on carding, some people in another group had to leave bc they didn't bring their ID. Cool hip vibe near the campground. Easy walk and nice place to hang outside with heaters. Service outside was prompt as soon as I sat down.

The drinks were awesome and the vibe and music were killer. The art on the walls was beautiful, but I wish they had some food, even nachos

When drinks are this cheap... it's always at least a 3.5 star spot. The beers I got were about 7 dollars a pint. Not too shabby. I'll round up and give this spot four stars because it was a chill vibe. Really no thrills or frills with this place. You get what you see. Earlier in the day around 5pm it was mostly middle aged country lovin folxs. But when we returned around 10pm on a Saturday night it became much more diverse. There was karaoke playing at night as well. There are two pool tables too. Inside can feel packed with 40 people in there. There are a few seats inside at the bar and then tucked away in the corner and so if you want to sit with a large group your best bet is outside on the patio. You can still hear the music. There's a lot more air. And there's windows to peak inside.

My friend had a friend performing, so I decided to check this spot out. Known for all fine Irish things, interestingly enough I didn't order anything Irish but here was my experience.AMBIANCE:Parking: Street parking, the North Park area can get rough so good luck!Seating: Inside seating is generally great for small groups (bar seating and tables of two and four)Vibes: North Park is a very popping place from the bars, events, and music. The place itself is your usual bar that's relatively well-lit. It's in a good location to see cars and people pass by. Great to chill out to watch a game, enjoy a live performance, or catch up with friends.DRINKS:Jazz Man (Recommend)A nice mix of cutwater Gin, Campari, triple sec & lemon juice. Something strong with pleasant citrus kicks.CUSTOMER SERVICE:Solid. Quick and friendlyTL; DR OVERALL:4 Stars. Great! I had a good experience here. Great menu, good drinks, and pleasant vibes. Nothing too rowdy. The band, Joey and The Mentals were fun to watch and listen to. North Park is known for their brewery spots so if you plan to barhop, add this to your list!TIPS:* Check their website and social media for updated eventsawesome!

Good food and service and regulars and guests are treated well. Fun place to hang out and watch a game and enjoy good food (except for the coffee). The Loco Moco was surprisingly tasty for a bar & grill and all the breakfast plates I saw looked delicious. My friends are regulars and enjoy their meals every time. Indoor and outdoor seating and it can get a little loud once the place fills up.

Visited 5/13/2023A Lady Friend of mine started Bartending here a few years ago and I've been following posts about the great food here.Joelle told me it had some Famous Special Chicken wings. Thought it was about time to check them out.Nice little place with lots of seating, Nice Bar, plenty of TVs for sports nights. The Staff is Amazing. All the food I've tried has been very tasty.Tonight I had The Signature Tomcat Original Chicken Wings. Wow. Just a little spicy but for me perfect. The Fried Mushrooms were cooked nicely. Loved Them. The Patty Melt was done to a perfect mid rare. Great flavor only wish it came on Marble Rye instead of plain rye bread. The Beer was chilled perfectly for a warm day.Nice Bar and can't wait to return to try more of the menu.Special Thanks to Joelle for the great experience.
Visit Restaurant Page"I was drawn here because this place was the only spot in town that had Melvin 2x4 IIPA, 9.9%.This beer is quite elusive to find on tap. They always have some rarer ones on draft. It was well worth the visit, and I noticed this is a really lively place as the night progresses. While the crowd was primarily younger Gen Y and Z, this Gen Xer had no problems feeling out of place! Then again, I'm at the age where I don't care anymore about petty stuff like this..Not really a biker bar, but this is also a hangout for newer age dudes with motorcycles. All types of bikes. You don't need a Harley or Indian to park it outside and feel like you fit in. They seem to have some interesting and creative cocktails, which I would come back to try without a doubt. This was specifically a beer mission that was accomplished. The other cool thing is they have games! Not on the arcade level, but still quite a few to enjoy with your friends while drinking. I dig this place, and just wish it was a little closer to home so I could hit it more often."
"If you like a great dive bar with classy, knowledgeable and friendly staff, this is the place to come to. Great location right off Coast Highway, walking distance from the Ocean. Great drinks and dog friendly are just a few additional pluses. The owner Bob is a great guy; personable, funny and friendly. It's now wonder this place has been around for so long. Tell your friends if you're in the neighborhood; guaranteed good times at this diamond in the rough."
"It was my birthday and we were walking around Point Loma for me to grab a few drinks. Club Marina is a vibe and had a great time here! I stayed for 2 drinks and then we headed down the road to another spot. The spot was popping with music, great drinks and bartenders were friendly and quick!"
"Checked this place out for the first time for pre dinner drinks. I love dive bars, and this place did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, cheap drinks. The margaritas I got were very tasty as well. Will definitely be back!"
"Great local dive!I love the structure: one side is a narrow bar area with seating and a pool table in the back; the other side is an open room for shows. This is great so you can still enjoy a drink/conversation if you have no interest in hearing a live band. Saw my friend's band here (check them out: Nights Like Thieves) and loved the venue.Cheap drinks too! PBR tall boys!"
"I planned my morning just right.Intentionally knew I was getting my nails done next door & by the time I'd be done- it's be lunchtime.I wanted to have a local vibe, a beer, & cheap eats.Now- when I say cheap- don't confuse it w/ no good quality. For $13 & change- I had a pint of Stella, bacon cheeseburger, & fresh sliced potato wedges- that were as long as pickle spears! Jim, the bartender & grill master was chill. My burger came on a soft sesame bun- grilled to my liking- medium rare. Offered w/ fresh sliced tomatoes & lettuce on the side. My grilled onions were delicious.Condiments are available- Cholula, mustard, ketchup....Although I was almost done w/ my burger- the fresh fry wedges arrived. Jim did mention they were gonna take a few. And it didn't dawn on my why. But, seeing their freshness- it made sense.I walked into the pub making great conversation w/ a guy I just met (damn I love being a social butterfly) & then a friend from my past walked in too!So, all 3 of us just kept yapping! Jukebox provided!$1 Jell-O shots can't do any harm either!"
"the best local bar in the area! heavy pours great beer selection with juke boxes and pool tables with plenty of tvs to watch the games . it can be a lil rough in the late hours ppl will fight but that normal, the service is great and always friendly apart from that and plenty of parking in the front"
"Super!! ....Fun, loud, and everything I expect a neighborhood dive bar to be. I walked over around midnight with friends and a dog, and let me tell you, everyone was so nice! There's a wee bit too much going on inside, with multiple pool tables and dart boards. It's cramped, hard to get to the bar, and difficult to navigate to the restroom. That said, the patio is where it's at. It's dog friendly, with biscuits and water bowls set out. Oh and besides lots of tables and chairs, there was a snack table. There's a very homey and backyard-like vibe going on. One huge thing to note is, if cigarette smoking offends you, this would not be a place for you.I didn't really know anyone yet randoms stopped to talk to me (I must disclose that I was in charge of the leash and it was mostly about the cute pups, who is a total chick magnet, but still...)Overall, a great place to nightcap! Pros:- ambience- patio- open late- workers kept the place tidy of empty bottles and glasses- dog friendlyCons:- restroom situation - difficult to navigate inside area"
"Lucky for me, I live walking distance to this gem. In fact, this is the closest drinking establishment to my house other than sneaking beers on to the golf course. I am a huge fan of dive bars, so the dark interior and older regulars are commonplace at bars I frequent. At this location, you will find both. The crowd is aways friendly, and often generous. It's not strange here to have strangers buy you a round of drinks. It's easy to do here as well since their prices are right up my alley -- cheap. The Touch Tunes makes it fun to play whatever your heart desires. And don't be shy about having a dance party. There's no set dance floor, but dancing is not discouraged. The bartenders are always friendly and helpful, but there's usually only one working, so when you roll up with a crowd of 10 of your best friends, someone is gonna have to wait a minute for a drink so be patient. Or play around of pinball while you wait. The place is spacious and the bathrooms (although not fancy) are always clean. That's the sign of a place where people respect the bar. Not only the staff, but obviously the patrons as well. If they could somehow add an outdoor or roof top patio I would be in HEAVEN and their sales would easily triple. That or maybe a big TV with "sports" since I don't have cable. This is not your typical PB bar, so don't get too excited about mojitos and girls in skimpy dresses. You'll see a lot of regulars, dressed down and just havin' a beer with the crew. Come on in sometime and say hello."
"Being that I work around the corner, I have had the pleasure to meet the owner Dirk. He was very nice and polite! The bartenders here are also very welcoming, at first glance the inside of this bar seems a bit dark but you start to enjoy the laid back atmosphere. Also, who's going to complain about the every day Happy Hour special? EVERY DAY, AS IN WEEKENDS INCLUDED. They also have game nights and some days even food trucks. I've been here a few times and have no complaints. The drinks are strong and affordable, they even have an outside area with games!"
"Is the $10 Burger + Fries + Craft Beer San Diego's best lunch special? I'm making a strong argument for that! Basically an $8 beer, $1.50 for the burger and 50 cents for the fries...come ON! Offer good until 6:00 pm daily, I believe. My burger was good- two beautiful tomato slices and grilled red onions, by God! Fries were sort of the natural cut style with skin, seasoned with Old Bay, which is like a hug from my home state of Maryland. Owner Johnny is very personable and made my (well behaved) 13 year-old son feel welcome."
"I used to go to Whistle Stop bar every few months many years ago. I had friends who lived nearby and would go to various music events there. I hadn't been there in years, until last week. My friend and I decided to go last minute last Friday night for a Morrisey/Smiths DJ dance night. We arrived about 10 PM and place was pretty packed. People were dancing and singing along to the songs and having a great time. Despite the crowd, it never took long to get a drink. I liked that they had a pretty decent bar. I drank Revolt rose' wine on tap all night. They had a variety of beer, wine, cider and cocktails. Everyone was in a good mood. I loved how the DJ mixed in similar types of music from different eras. The crowd was friendly and some of them were regulars. Even though it was crowded on the dance floor, we always found space to dance. The ladies room was small and a bit awkward, but I also never had to wait very long in line. All in all, I had a blast. It was a great atmosphere, with great music and decent drinks at decent prices. I will certainly be checking out the music calendar"
"Is this the same 4 star rating as many of my reviews for higher end restaurants? No! But, is Champ's deserving of a great rating in the genre of dive bars? Yes! My boyfriend and I recently purchased a home in Bay Park and as such, we have been exploring the surrounding businesses. During a night out with a couple of friends, we decided it would be fun to stop for a drink at this local watering hole. It's clearly a dive bar and we expected to walk into an old, grungy, stinky place, but Champs really surprised us. While is is absolutely divey, it was clean (restrooms included) and not grungy at all. We originally went in wanting to play a game of pool, but as there was only one pool table and it was occupied, we opted for a game of shuffleboard instead. It was a really good time, though the table was running pretty low on sand to sprinkle over the board. We would have loved to play darts as well, but there was actually a darts club meeting that evening, so all 4 or 5 boards were taken. Along with those three games, there were also a few old school video games littered around.Between the four of us, there were three cocktails, two made with Tito's, and a beer ordered, yet the total was only $18. That's pretty much unheard of in any bigger city bar, so we were pleasantly surprised when we were told what we owed. If it were a party-time kind of evening, we'd have definitely taken advantage of the fair prices more. Keep in mind that it is cash only, but they do have an ATM if needed. For a Saturday night, it was pretty quiet. I would assume that when games are playing it gets a bit more lively since they have a few televisions, but overall I think it's a great place for a casual and chill evening."
"We were hosting a friend out of town and wanted an evening place to vibe out. This seemed like a good place to hop to other spots so we checked it out.AMBIANCE:Parking: Street parking that's metered but free after certain times. However Hillcrest can get crowded so come and plan accordingly Seating: A good amount of seating but it gets crowded during popular nights.Vibes: In the neighborhood of Hillcrest, it's an eventful spot with a lot of activities. Eateries, shopping, and events here and there. The place itself is pretty neat. Friendly spot for the most part. We were here for Saturday karaoke which was a pretty cool. A singer friendly place from first timers, hidden stars, to people that generally just want to have a good time.FOOD:Moscow Mule (Recommend)A simple yet pretty strong drink. A nice mix that has a good sparkling kick and a bite from the ginger.CUSTOMER SERVICE:Great! The DJ knew how to create a fun vibe and the servers were hard working.TL; DR OVERALL:4.5 Stars. Awesome! Good drinks and good/fun energy. My friend visiting enjoyed his time and we all enjoyed our time. For a fun night in San Diego outside of the popular Gaslight District, look into Hillcrest! Be respectful, be yourself, and have fun!TIPS:* $5 CASH cover to get in. * They do karaoke and play a song in between."
"For a divey location, this bar really delivers. They did a good job with the space for being relatively inexpensive yet being situated in a not-cheap suburban neighborhood. They call it " The Hole in the Wall" and I guess there's literally a hole in the wall aka a door, but the venue itself is more like an underground courtyard which makes me curious about what it was before. Right as you enter, you walk down a colorfully lit staircase onto the open air patio. There's usually a karaoke dj to your right and a good amount of people watching zones to choose. I haven't eaten anything here but there's usually an outdoor cook/snack compiler standing near the entrance to the bar.If you're from San Diego, you wouldn't list Point Loma on your itinerary for a queer night out yet The Hole in the Wall exists to surprise you and I love it.I've gone on empty nights and I've gone on packed nights. Both experiences are lovely. If you love a good string-lit outdoor patio and watching people have a fun night, this could be your place."
"Once upon a time, somewhere in between the City Of San Diego and La Mesa and nestled in the heart of El Cajon Blvd, there was a dive bar. This bar was a strange mixture of college kids and neighborhood locals, all looking to blow off some steam and forget their troubles with cheap drinks, loud music, pool, ping pong and darts. On this particular night, the bar was packed to the brim with patrons, all getting rowdier by the minute. The air was thick with the smell of beer and the sound of glasses clinking together as people laughed and shouted over the volume of the music. As the night wore on, the crowd began to spill out of the front door of the bar, still shouting and laughing, but now with a sense of urgency as closing time approached. As the last call was announced, the patrons began to stumble out into the street, sipping the last of their drinks and shouting at one another. But as the night turned into morning, the laughter and shouting began to turn into something more sinister. The patrons, now fueled by cheap alcohol and a sense of invincibility, began to fight in the streets. Threats were made, tempers flared, punches were thrown, and the already uneasy neighborhood was plunged into chaos. At the sound of a police car's chirping siren, the patrons stumbled home, nursing their bruises and wondering if the cheap prices and stiff drinks were worth the fear of someone punching them in the face when they left. This was a common occurrence at the dive bar, but no one ever learned from it. They would come back, again and again, looking for the same cheap prices and stiff drinks, never considering the danger that lurked outside the front door.In the end, the patrons would wake up the next day, nursing their wounds and vowing to never go back to that dive bar again. But as the days passed, the memory of the cheap drinks and wild nights would call to them, drawing them back to that dark, dangerous place once more. The moral of the story is, sometimes we have to question the things we think we want, and weigh the risk against the reward. The next time you're tempted to hit up a dive bar, remember this story and the fear of someone punching you in the face when you leave.Welcome to The BLVD Bar."
"Another day, another dive, and this is a good one.Falling on the same drunken walking path as their across the street neighbor, Norm's, Chico Club is equally as cool and as hospitable. These places when the crowd is thin are the most charmed of hours as you get to chit-chat with the bartender, let them air out the dirty laundry, and learn all the deep dark secrets baked into the old walls. Is Chico Club a destination? I don't know about that, but it's certainly a neighborhood gem if you're looking for a cold drink with a side of pool, a good juke, and some TVs with sports. I enjoy all of those things so you know, I will be back... probably more often than I should."
"I've been coming here since the previous owners. It was one of my favorite old man smelly dives. Interesting characters, cheapest drinks, mostly decent bartenders- some rad some absolute shit. Still, I was sad to see it go and figured it would just become another soulless expensive Consortium bullshit. So I didn't go, for months. Well I was out and about and decided to stop by. Not much has changed! Out went the smelly carpet and the dirty old men. Good drinks, still cheap, great happy hour. Still have steak night! Been a few times now. The staff is an upgrade. I like the dude who looks like Steve from Stranger Things- he makes a mean cocktail- and the big guy who has a different pair of glasses every time I go in tells a great story and gives the best travel advice. The dude in a bowler at the door is also a gem- not your typical muscle head dick standing at the door. I'm glad that it hasn't lost its charm!"
"On a random night, a couple friends, my boyfriend and I, were looking for somewhere casual to end up for a drink or two. It was very last minute and we were already out and finishing up our previous activity, so when my friend looked up somewhere that was near both of our homes in Clairemont, she saw Peter D's pop up and Google and off we went. My boyfriend and I were very excited upon arrival because we had no idea this bar was in the particular little shopping center that it is and it's literally walking distance to our house, so now we have a neighborhood bar! It's the epitome of a hole in the wall locals place and we were definitely the outsiders when we walked in as everyone seemed to know each other. People were friendly though and said hi as they walked by and it was comfortable enough to chill out with a drink. I'm not sure if there is a jukebox somewhere or if the establishment picks the music, but I enjoyed the mix of popular country and pop hits that came on. There is also a pool table, but we didn't get to play because it never became available. That's the problem with only having one! It's nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done and we will definitely be visiting again for pure convenience!"
"Trekked through the front door of the iconic Casino Inn in Alpine yesterday for a bite of lunch. The joint is sparkling, warm and welcoming. Plenty of room for comfortable dining and drinking. The local patrons are always giddy with happiness which creates a pleasurable vibe. The wait staff goes the extra mile aiming to please both regulars & city adventurers. Brews on tap are diverse, mixed crafted cocktails are strong and for professionals. There is a regular rotation of special activities (bingo, live bands, comedy, 8 ball tournaments, brunch, karaoke, taco/wing nights, etc) that launches this pub to a higher level. The food prepared here is not from your typical grandpa's bar but creative, abundant and delicious. "Their mimosa brunch deal is actually really great! It was worth coming here just for that. I got their chilaquiles and I was pretty happy with it! Not the best I've ever had, but I would definitely order it again. It came with a lot of toppings and the chips were fresh and crunchy. It was a bit salty overall for me, but still very nice. Staff was super friendly and you are allowed to have dogs on the outside patio area. Overall a very cute place and I had a lot of fun while I was there."
"This bar is a real gem! Lots of beers and pool tables and TVs! The food is fabulous! Inexpensive and really really good! Great clean restrooms too!"
"Standard dive bar nothing memorable about the actual place itself however what makes any karaoke bar fun is really the crowd that night. I went with my coworkers cause we had a conference and they were fun so therefore the night was fun.I do appreciate that they have security that ensures people don't get too caught up in whatever crazy thing they're doing like being mean to the DJ or standing on the booth or getting carried away and being aggressive on the mic lol I can't speak too much to the drinks but the pour itself I remember being strong. Overall good time you'll get humid and hot in there from dancing lol"
