Home Bakers, this is a shop you can really enjoy if you're too busy to create in your own kitchen. The whole family is a fan. Pardon the word, but these are moist (sorry) flavorful and fresh everytime. Their frosting is quality and they can decorate a cake like nobody's business! We'll be getting my daughter's cake from them this year because I recently saw a Frozen design on their instagram that was like none other I'd seen around (and would not attempt myself.)"

"After having lunch with a friend at an eatery within the Del Mar Highlands Town Center, I strolled over to the northeastern section of the shopping complex to visit PURE Cupcakes. The suite was rather small with only one inside table for seating but a few others located out front on the sidewalk. In the glass display cases adjacent to the service counter were cupcakes stacked on different shelf levels.This was one of the few dessert shops in which I encountered products that were segregated by which days of the week they were sold. Six varieties were only available from Monday to Thursday while nine different types were only available from Friday to Sunday. Ten flavors were made daily and labeled as 'Everyday.' Prices ranged from $4 to $5.25 per cupcake.On the bottom row of the main display cases was four kinds of cupcakes that were priced at 50% off. They were leftovers from the Friday to Sunday inventory so I am sure these cupcakes were past their "best by" date. I picked the following three for my order.* Caramel Cashew - Vanilla bean cake topped with caramel buttercream, chopped cashews and caramel drizzle* Lemon Blueberry - Vanilla cake with fresh blueberries folded into the batter, filled with homemade lemon curd and topped with lemon buttercream* Strawberries Galore - Strawberry cupcake topped with strawberry cream cheese frostingThe double shot of caramel in the buttercream and drizzle made the first cupcake my favorite of the trio. It was a bargain to purchase these weekend leftovers at less than $3 apiece. The size of these treats were standard and not the jumbo type that I have seen elsewhere. I felt that my experience at PURE Cupcakes was at a 4.5 star level."

She was very quick to respond, which is highly appreciated, especially for a 3 week notice. I sent her a bunch of inspo pics, color schemes, a request for my mom's name somewhere and to incorporate butterflies (my mom's fav), and # of people that will be at the party. There was even an option to have printed images on the cakes! Initially, I asked for it but apparently there were issues with the printer. But honestly, I LOVE the way it came out without it! The mascarpone was lightly sweet and fluffy, cookie/tart cake was the perfect texture, and we loved all the little details! My only Very minor critique is that the little pink geo heart cakes had a very thin coat so it was showing a bit of the chocolate underneath. "Disclaimer: I am not Paleo, am not on any special diets, and I have no dietary restrictions. I recently met the sweet owner of PPB at a Yelp event and firmly decided on supporting their small business for an upcoming birthday. I asked Rose what the most popular cakes are, and decided on one of the most popular, the Luscious Lemon.The cakes come in several sizes feeding 2-4, 6-8, etc. I really wanted something for 4-6 people but after speaking with Rose, it seemed the 6-8 person option was what I was looking for. Rose described the cake for 2-4 as being smaller than a Costco muffin and slight larger than a cupcake. Hence why I decided on the 6-8.Pickup was a breeze. I waited in the pickup lot for just a couple minutes before Rose happily delivered my cake. The presentation was nice. I really liked the packaging as it showed all the ingredients for the cake and the frosting. There was even a QR code that would link you to tips on serving/storing the cake. Nice touch. As instructed, I left the cake out of the fridge for about 2 hours and it was time to dig in.The cake reminded us of a very lightly sweetened cornbread. The frosting was "buttery", but in a unique way. As the frosting hit my lips it instantly coated them like butter. The cake smelled "lemony" when cutting into it, however I didn't get that same lemon flavor when eating it. And even though I'm not a fan of super sweet frosting, I desperately wanted more sugar in this frosting. I envisioned a PPB Paleo cake as one made with whole and possibly organic ingredients, having less sugar, or honey, and one that uses almond or coconut flour instead of unbleached white flour. While that may be mostly correct, I think I SEVERELY underestimated the whole "less sugar" part. That was my bad.Here's a rule of thumb that might help. Paleo and organic ingredients are simply more expensive than your typical cake ingredients. Expect your Paleo cake to be several times smaller to reflect that. The cake for 6-8, $50, was smaller than I anticipated.Working with Rose's PPB was super easy and extremely professional. I really loved the packaging and presentation of the cake."

I knew what I wanted because I`m a Yelp stalker and I know ahead of time what looks good to me. I chose a filled horn, a chocolate éclair, and two of their cake/cream/jam parfaits. The shop is clean, the cakes on display creative and interesting, and I found Chef Carl to be an absolute delight. He is nice to chat with, friendly, and takes pride in his business. I also heard him answer a phone call from his wife and it was adorable. *heart eyes*Pricing is fair for the quality. The horn and éclair were delicious, learning towards the éclair being my favorite of the two. I like that the cream wasn't too sweet. It was all balanced very nicely.NOW, let me tell you about these parfaits. I had never had a cake parfait and I am a convert now from regular parfaits and regular cake. Why have either of those when you can have it all, in a cup, with a lid, to go. I dug in right when I got home because the parfaits looked very enticing. SO good. Moist(I hate that word) cake, delicious not too sweet cream, and the jam(I`m sorry if it is called something else. I am but a humble dessert consumer). She made them and delivered them the very next day in a cute box, sending me a picture of the final product AND a picture of them delivered on the doorstep (contactless delivery). They will tell you also to NOT refrigerate them. I like to stick 'em in the microwave for about 10-15 sec to warm the bread and it is just perfect!They typically last about 3 days. I have tried their chocolate cupcake and brownies, those were ok to me but hey, coming from someone who bakes, and have dietary restrictions... the breads and cookies are truly exceptional. They definitely got the texture down... sometimes i forget that i'm eating a GF bread. I can say this is def at the top of my list of best!
